Tekken 7 PC performance thread

System requirements:
tekken7sysreqs82uci.jpg

Latest drivers: (as at 21/12/2017)
Nvidia: 388.71
AMD: 17.12.2
Intel: Depends on your processor; download the driver update utility

Benchmarks:
GameGPU (Russian; launch build)

Tips and tricks:
Cap the framerate/potentially improve frametimes: Download RivaTuner Statistics Server, input your desired framerate limit in the "Framerate limit" box, and hit enter (the program comes bundled with MSI Afterburner and earlier versions of EVGA PrecisionX). Alternatively, those with an Nvidia GPU have the option of Nvidia Inspector, which can also be used to impose a framerate cap, either in a similar manner to RTSS or by way of forcing a different vsync interval (click the small tool icon to open the game profile section).
Note: Useful if you your system can't maintain, say, 60fps and you're sensitive to the wild fluctuations, or you're experiencing uneven frametimes. The greater window the engine has to render a given frame, if you're imposing a lower framerate than the game can otherwise provide, may also help in alleviating stuttering related to data streaming.
Stop the game from crashing after 15 minutes on touch-capable systems running Windows 10: Open the task manager, switch to the Services tab and disable TabletInputService.
Disable chromatic aberration: Follow the instructions here. You may need to set the file to read-only. (Credit to JimSifu @ Steam Community via ShadowSoldier89.) Note that this will also reduce motion blur quality. (Credit to low-G.)
Disable film grain: As above, but with r.Tonemapper.Quality=3. (Credit to Parsnip.)
Stop the game from crashing due to a hung GPU (AMD): Try downgrading to the 16.11.5 drivers. (Credit to Cloudz @ Steam Community.)
Enable 21:9 support in fights: Use this trainer. (Credit to jackfuste @ WSGF via KingpinZero.)
Improve shadow quality: See "Disable chromatic aberration", but use r.Shadow.MaxResolution=4096. (Credit to Sectus and MGrant.)
Increase anisotropic filtering quality: As above, but with r.MaxAnisotropy=16. (Credit to Ash735.)
Fix lower performance when using exclusive fullscreen mode: A bug with the resolution scale setting can result in two instances of the game being rendered. Switch to borderless window mode and close the second, smaller window. (Credit to Bydobob.)

Im glad they went the extra mile with the PC version. Hopefully they'll get rewarded for this with great sales!

If you preloaded the game like me and it's taking forever to unpack, like me, restart Steam. If that doesn't work and your internet connection is good, delete the game (and the preload files in depotcache) and redownload the game again! My first time preloading a game on Steam and wow, what an awful experience.

I guess my 4670K i5 processor shall do, and the 16gb of RAM too. Just my 780 (oc) that I need to upgrade soon. I hope to be playing it in 1080p on 60fps and with most things on High, and motion blur disabled.

I did the same, 6.5mb/s download is faster than 900kb/s unpacking, why can't they just encrypt the executable? :/

I would also like to know about 21:9 support. I have only been able to find one PC review that claimed it didn't support but I've also seen a picture of it running 21:9 so I'm curious. If it doesn't I'll probably just get it on PS4 PRO but I would prefer PC.

For some reason I only have one screen resolution option, 4K.

EDIT:

Ok this was on Borderless Windowed mode. I changed to fullscreen and it let me select 1440p.

ya that happened to me..check in display settings make sure its not windowwed mode, apparently windowed mode locks it to 4k. Switch to fullscreen and theyll appear.

edit: nm, beaten.

Oh damn, I hope they fix this. One of the reasons I double dipped for Tekken 7 on PC was to play in borderless so I could quickly chat, read up and interact with others while playing. Welp.

The regular window mode may do the trick if you want some desktop real estate while playing.

Edit: Yep.

The lighting looks weird in this shot, like the characters were pasted on top of the level. It's like the lighting model for the environment is not being applied to the characters.
Fighting game lighting to make the characters easier to read probably

Not currently at my PC, but from what I've played

4k/60fps maxed solid on a 1080Ti

1080p/60fps medium on friend's 880M

Borderless is broken

Also my first time preloading and no matter what I do I can't get it to work. My unpacking estimate was 3 hours, so I deleted the game and tried to redownload but it decided the files were still there even though they weren't. Installed the game on my HDD and then moved them to the SSD and now it's stuck downloading a 1gb update at 0 kb/s. Having an awful time. Any tips?
Edit: welp, looks like rebooting did it. What a hassle.
Edit2: Wait, no, it's stuck at 100% now. Come on, I just wanna punch em

Is this the max for the 880? So it won't look much better than what is on a normal PS4?

Time to upgrade that GPU.

Okay they pushed the 880M up to High and it kept solid with only the most minor of frame drops

Going up to Max at 1080p caused big frame drops on things like floor breaks, also apparently the game goes 30Hz if it drops more than a few frames below 60fps?

My guess is the dynamic adjustment setting works pretty well unless everything is taxed

It wouldn't have actually taken 3 hours. For future reference, Steam, if necessary, updates the game data during the unpacking process, which throws off the timer and results in an inordinately high initial estimate. All told, it would have taken you around 20 minutes, perhaps a little longer owing to the use of an HDD rather than an SSD.

Look for the depotcache folder in /Steam and /SteamApps and delete everything inside, then redownload. Sucks but it's what I had to do.

What's rendering scale? I swear every PC game these days has some graphics option I've never seen before and no explanation for what it does.

So should that mean I could be doing Medium settings on my 780 oc and get 1080/60? I would like to have smooth 60fps on floor breaks, wall breaks and stuff like that. And I assume turning off the motion blur would be a good thing.

An actual good VR game beating Tekken doesn't surprise me. VR is all but dead and there is finally something to play. People with VR headsets were starved for a good release.

Apparently yes turning motion blur off helps

He said that best he got it to 1080p/60fps with 100% scaling, everything high except post processing, no blur. Sent this screenshot:
