For me, what I wanted more than anything was a fully running VC (stupidly thinking we would have everything from NES to Wii)
They have already told us this will not be happening for a while yet. So I will settle for New Mario footage and release date
Soraya Saga hasn't retweeted the Nintendo Spotlight tweet, right?
So no Xenoblade 2?
Worst idea ever. I'd sacrifice the whole Golden Sun series to be sure we have the Xenoblade.
GS 1 and 2 were fine, nothing groundbreaking, the 3rd one is even less "good".
These games are not especially amazing by any standards except maybe for the puzzles in dungeons.

well Sony announce games that wont come out for the next 10 years
Im sure Nintendo could do the same if they wanted
I would sacrifice Xenopants 2 in an instance for a Golden Sun reboot. The series deserves proper treatment.
As others have noted, 30 minutes seems like plenty of time if the pacing is similar to that Splatoon 2/ARMS Direct. I don't think they'll use the spotlight to focus on any one title for more than a few minutes at a time.
In that regard, I'm really glad that they have the Treehouse live streams as a regular thing now. I still have nightmares about that Wii-U conference where they spent 5+ minutes explaining how the Luigi's Mansion mini-game in Nintendoland worked...
Its more worrying that Nintendo chose to focus on 2017 games, a lineup that has pretty much all been announced since a while ago. E3 is meant to give an insight to the future of a platform and at the very least makes announcements for games coming next year. For Nintendo's sake, I hope they try and do some of that.

Didn't some at Nintendo hint at more Switch titles being revealed at E3 earlier this year?
Following the Pokemon news yesterday I do have some concerns about how the presentation will pan out with 30 minutes. They hyped up that event as being 'big' for Pokemon.
I hope Mario is only shown 5-10 minutes at the most, since they are emphasising this as their big holiday title.
Ideally i do suspect at the possibility of seeing Retro's new title - as many have suggested it's been quite a long time since we've heard what they're working on.
Definitely expecting coverage on Xenoblade 2, Mario/Rabbids and Fire Emblem Warriors.
If Nintendo really want to show Arms/Splatoon 2/Pokken DX then keep it to a minimum or part of a showreel. Don't want them to take up much space in the presentation. Two tournaments and trailers should be enough to show them off by now.
If we see more then I'm expecting a new title or two. Ideally Smash Switch DX and a new Metroid. Really craving for a pure exploration based game after BoTW.
Either that or maybe a game reveal from Platinum.
Have fun with your overdesigned, crotchless pants wearing main character.
Missinformed people from the future have always the best cynical opinions.30 minutes, yikes. Can't believe they have that little to show. A disappointment when you consider we they are probably going to show Splatoon and Zelda stuff, along with 3DS things. I think the real difference is that there's unlikely to be any meaningful 3rd party games to show.

That's pretty short. Guess we won't get early 2018 games after all
Why?I mean, we can probably already assume Mario is delayed to Spring and Pokemon USUM and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga DX will be part of this video.

30min can be a long time, if we take the last bigger Nintendo Direct in account, which was very fast paced (I think it was also 30min and everybody was surprised, how many games they showed in that short timeframe).
Second Nintendo already announced, that it will only focus on Switch games, and third there are multiple days of E3. Nintendo always showed a few new games outside the presentation.
So let's all chill out and wait.
Or maybe it will be almost all early 2018 games because they don't have shit for Switch this year.

Are you saying that no 3DS games will be shown? I wasn't aware of that. I mean, we all expect the Switch to be the focus, but I would have guessed that they wouldn't exclude the 3DS completely. I guess I missed that confirmation by the big Nintendo.
And it's not really going out on a limb to say that there will be very few new games shown because that's always been the case and, at 30 minutes, it's not going to change this year. I guess I was hoping for more, including more 3rd party focus, to show that Nintendo is taking a different, more inclusive approach with the Switch.
I seem to recall people having similar arguments when we got a similar timeslot for the Digital Event in 2014 too
It was 50% longer...how can you say "it is more or less the same"?
It is way less...
is having shorter E3 presentation every year a good thing now?
this is the first Switch E3: 30 minutes long Direct is a hype-killer, even if Direct pace is faster than the live conference one
because we already know that every minute spent on already known games or on VC services or on already/almost available games (such as ARMS, Splatoon or even worst Pokken, being a port of a Wii U game) will completely kill the video perception
Pair this with their "2017 games focus" and honestly it would already be great to see 2 brand new games announced...considering how poor and weak the third party lineup is and probably will continue to be...
I seriously think that this E3 instead of being a good propeller for the console risks to kill its momentum
Nintendo, pleeeease, repeat what you did in 2012/2014 and I'll be pretty happy.
The PR and announcements have all said the Spotlight will "take a look at upcoming Switch games" with "a focus on 2017 titles". And then the Treehouse PR says it will talk about Switch and 3DS games.
So I wouldn't say it's 100% confirmed to be Switch only but it's sure looking like it is.
10 minutes: Mario Odyssey (11/17)
5 minutes: Xenoblade 2
("Look forward to hearing more about Xenoblade 2 in 2018")
5 minutes: Smash Bros 4 Switch (10/17)
5 minutes: Splatoon 2 (7/17)
5 minutes: Indie Showcase (all re-releases)
10 sec: Samus battling Mother Brain
"But we'll have more for you on that sometime in the future!"
I'd be very surprised if we didn't see Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga DX, though Nintendo has often relegated 3DS announcements outside of the digital events and directs.
I'm more concerned about the Direct being a first party fest, which has been the case for the last few years at E3. Either that or Nintendo should push hard for Bethesda to show Skyrim Portable at their event, and Ubisoft showing Mario + Rabbids at theirs. NIntendo should at least make time and space for important third party games though, like Project Octopath Traveler.

No one in their right mind is going to make a decision in the months ahead to not buy a Switch because at E3 they didn't blow out their 2018 lineup.
To some people, the biggest problem with the past Nintendo consoles was the lack of games, especially third party games. If that's still a concern for someone, and that would be a rational concern to me, Nintendo not showing big new games could give that person pause. I don't know why this is outside the realm of possibility.
I think it'd be a disappoint if no new games were announced.
Yes it sounds silly. This has seriously killed my hype for the showcase, no matter how silly that sounds.
I am still hoping it will be at least 40 minutes long...
Rösti;239477297 said:That's not entirely true. They showed more games than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, though I'm unsure if more titles were playable on the show floor.
Also, does anyone else have issues loading https://e3.nintendo.com/? Only a red background and the logo is shown to me. I see from the source they added some Pokémon assets (Pokkén).
Edit: Nevermind, I found the issue. JS was disabled.
They really don't need to spend 10 minutes on Odyssey or any games during the Spotlight when they can play for hours during the Treehouse stream.
