Odyssey: 7 minutes

FE Warriors: 2 minutes
Xenoblade 2: 5 minutes
Mario X Rabbids: 6 minutes
Zelda DLC: 2 minutes
Pokken: 2 minutes
ARMS: 1 minute
I feel like this is too safe. I'd be surprised if we don't get one or two other reveals besides Mario + Rabbids.

Only 2017 would be disappointing, because there wouldn't be more unnanounced games for this year.

Need at least 2 games for 2018...E3 of 2013 had 4 announcements for WiiU, Mario, Donkey, Mario Kart and Smash, hell even E3 2014 was interesting...

30 minutes is not enough time for new games.

This is like Sonic cycle of disappointment, but with Nintendo.

I believe in Metroid even as I look askance at my faith and deplore its foolishness.

Yet the faith is resolute. E3 will end with a Metroid reveal. If you tell me this is wrong, I'll agree that you're probably right, but nonetheless my faith will be unshaken.

It is time for the revelation of a true Metroid. It is always time, but this time will be the time :p.

I'll be right there with you. This year, like all years, we must hold out...

Nintendo has absolutely wasted time before on inane shit. I remember one year they were supposed to spend the whole direct thing on Wii U but then spent several minutes on 3DS Pokemon anyway. And people can prattle on, or they can waste time on recently released games (arms) or soon to be released games (Spla2n). HOWEVER. They could also go nuts and show tons of shit. So who knows.

I like to doubt them so that I'm not dissapointed when Metroid doesn't show up yet again.

I guess it's worth noting that Nintendo doesn't put a limit to how much time they have.
It's not "we can only do 30 minutes, I guess Metroid Rebirth SAGA will have to miss the show".

With tree house live, 3 tournaments, and the event being pre-recorded they can probably get a ton in from just 30 minutes.
You don't need to wait for some guy in a suite to walk up on stage and pimp sales numbers and to play a faked demo on stage. They can save that for treehouse.

However, with all the games they need to cover I wouldn't expect too much new.
I imagine they'll leave Splatoon 2 and especially ARMS for the treehouse and tournament sections. But they still need to show:
  • Fire Emblem Warriors
  • Rabbids Kingdom Battle
  • Mario Odyssey
  • Xenoblade Chronicles X
  • etc
They'll probably waste some time on 3rd party junk like Skyrim too

Never forget E3 2010 where they had a fantastic conference and then dumped a whole bunch of 3DS games in a press release after the conference. So gewd.

Call me crazy, but the more I think about it, the more I wouldn't be surprised if that 4chan leak does turn out to be accurate. The last time 4chan leaked a major event, it was the January Switch showing and they were shockingly spot on. It's still 4chan, so take it with a grain of salt, but there is a small possibility it could be true.

With the Treehouse stream being an established thing I'm not too worried about them spending too much time on one game in the Spotlight presentation. Even if they do, that doesn't mean it will be a disappointment for me. As an owner of all the consoles, the stuff I'm looking forward to the most across all systems are games that have already been announced, but don't have lots of info about them. Some unknown game announcements are always nice, but don't feel necessary for me.

Do we know that they are going to use their new style of Direct as a template for this show ?

It's Nintendo - predicting what they'll do with 100% certainty isn't really possible.

There is, however, the distinct possibility that they'll use the format again since they'll have the Treehouse Stream to explain things in detail and show demos.

yep.

anyone expecting more will deserve the inevitable let down. No of course stuff like Sonic, Skyrim, and some indies would also get shown off so I doubt the trailers will be that long but still those are the games.

like it or not, but Rabbids is the new game.

Just because something leaked does not make it not officially new.

True, but why do we think Nintendo is going to take lead on showing it off? I assume it'll get a minute long trailer, followed by a brief "Look forward to more details on through Ubisofts conference and on the show floor" - cut to next clip.

Still, I don't think that's it. There has to be a bit more. I still think the Spotlight will be like the April Direct in pacing and format. Plus, it's an Ubisoft game, so it's probably going to be revealed at their conference.

Am I the only one curious why people are assuming it'll be exactly 30 minutes? They said about 9:30, which probably could end up going as late as 9:45 (I'd assume if it was longer they'd say about 10)

Also, I don't expect Arms, Zelda DLC, Pokken to be in the showcase at all, and splatoon 2 is pretty iffy as well

Did you also predict the Cavs to sweep?

Given the recent news of 30 minutes and "only" 2017 and all that, I think the best case scenario would be that they involve the Treehouse much more than before. It's always been important, but during the Spotlight they could make a point of tying the trailers and announcements to the Treehouse by clearly saying "tune in later to learn more about this and that".

If that's the case then we could have 30 minutes of tight trailers and announcements, without dwelling on anything, and then get the long form stuff right after. It could work really well.

Anyone who makes lists like these which literally only have stuff we know about are 100% wrong.

There has never been a single E3, or even general Direct, where there wasn't at least one surprise announcement that no one knew about.

There's also never been a year where we know Nintendo's entire year lineup -before- E3. There's always a couple of titles they save to announce, at least.

The use of "mainly" and "focused on" 2017 also means there will absolutely be at least one 2018 release. The only "known" 2018 release right now is Fire Emblem, so either that is guaranteed to be shown...or something we don't know about yet is.

Why is it people only want Nintendo to show what they have for the rest of 2017 but it's okay when other companies show games that are aimed to release in 4 years?

It's gonna be so dumb not to have at the very least some stuff for next year. They don't need to do as they did with the Wii U announcing the FE x SMT practically at the system's launch only to release it at its last year of life, but come on, I wanted to at least have an idea on what to expect for next year's holidays.

Two weeks ago 9 games were added to our system for switch, they've slowly been updating as titles are leaked or announced (rabbits mario was just updated today... 6 mystery titles remain D:

That time limit really diminished my expectations. But honestly Nintendo hasn't been a company who drops unexpected 'megatons' anymore anyway, they always play it relatively safe, and they always have disappointing sequels and announcements that no one wanted (Starfox Wii U/ Metroid 3DS).

I'm sure the direct will have 1 or 2 demos I'm interested in and that's it.

Its bad when a game is announced 4 years in advance for some pop at press conferences. I am jaded as fuck but every E3 is "WOOOO THAT GAME IS ANNOUNCED" only for there to be no new information and the slow realization that you will have to wait at least a year or two to even touch it if at all. Square is the King of this shit and as such you now have people up any thread about a game being super butthurt about it not being out yet.

I like Nintendo's new strategy of announcing stuff closer to their release dates lately. Its a much better rollout imo.

now of course I suspect they will have one or two 2018 games but it won't be anything major. Hell it will probably be in the vein of FE getting announced for 2018.

I just rather go through an E3 being happy with what we do get rather than what we don't...that way its a lot easier to wade through threads for information and hell there will be actual information instead of the normal CG trailer and fluffy words of nothingness.

Plenty of people in this thread want people to show off things that are coming later as well. It's not that cool to focus on things that are > 1-1.5 years out, but I'd like them to be there in some form. It adds a lot to excitement around the platforms future.

You guys don't think they'll spend a little time on any of the third party games like NBA 2k18, Skyrim, or any other game like that? What about huge third party announcements that may be there?

While I'd like to see their entire lineup for the next twelve months, through Q2 2018. Beyond that, I'm fine with them not showing anything. >12m hype cycles suck.

I'm not even sure we'll see the full Q1 2018 lineup, though. But those games will be revealed in a few months, I'll live.
