Good to know! I think I'll get just the base game for now!

Wow, true! What are the chances it willget 60~75% discount in Summer Sale?
Possible, as 50% off isn't its historical low. But then again, steam sales aren't as good as before.

Watching these gameplay videos of Assassin's Creed: Origins have made me hungry for some more. I'm strongly thinking about starting up with Assassin's Creed 1 and going on from there. It'll be a huge time investment though, so I would like to know if it's worth it for the story, and also the experience in and of itself for each game. How long does a single Assassin''s Creed take to complete?

According to How Long to Beat, it's ranging form 20-40 hours for main story+extra.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.
Temperature isn't the be all, end all. At some point, raising the core or memory clock speed is going to make your system unstable (while intensely using your GPU).

*snip*

This is a great post. Thanks for writing this.

Alright, I think I'm gonna do it after I've beaten The New Order, The Old Blood and Beyond Good and Evil. To finally complete an Assassin's Creed title would be quite the feat. But I hear there's problems with Assassin's Creed 1 on PC.
Domt bother 100% an ass creed title
Just beat the main story

With all that MH World thing, I totally forgot about Dauntless.

I... wonder how they'll do now that the real thing is coming.

I remember it already left a bad impression after they announced it has XP boosters and boosters that give you more loot.

Yeah.. things aren't looking so good for Dauntless as it is.

What's the business model? B2P? If they go F2P maybe they'll still have a chance, like how Overwatch and Paladins coexist.

Edit: I don't think it's gonna be F2P? I just remember that they've been throwing Founders Pack emails at me in the past few weeks.

Just heard Wolfenstein TNO runs like shit on AMD GPU. I have an RX 480 and now I'm unsure how playable it will be.

Not sure about modern GPUs, but I played it on a 7950 at solid 60 with a mix of medium-high settings.
I have a 480 now, and wanted to replay it and the old blood, so it would be shitty if that's the case :(

id Tech 5 games are just notoriously temperamental. There's no discernible reason as to why they play silly buggers with some systems.

The only explanation I could think of right now, is that Valve added the price difference restriction on top of the existing region locks. If so it's fucking stupid.

That's exactly what they did. And as far as I can tell, the price discrepancy is checked before the geographic restriction during a gift transaction. Meaning that if you try and gift an item with a similar price in another region, you'll get the region restriction message, but if you try and gift a game with a large price difference, you'll be told the price difference is too much (and it would still be region locked anyway).

Yeah, I will only go for the main stories. But I remember having it installed before and the NPCs having no faces. Wasn't there a widescreen mod one should install for Assassin's Creed 1 at least?

New game available on gog connect

War for the Overworld

I've just tried to gift Wolfenstein: TNO to a friend in China, yet the checkout page says it can not be activated outside of Taiwan and Hong Kong. I thought the new gifting policy has eliminated this? I've checked, this game has no TW & HK specific sub. What is going on?

Price difference between Hong Kong and China is more than 10%. Valve don't allow gifting when that happens.

Checking steam and PS:

AC1 - No idea was years ago on 360
AC2 - 36 hours
AC Brotherhood - 34 hours
AC Revelations - 4 hours, just started it!
ACIII - 43 Hours
ACIV - 56 Hours
Unity - 24 Hours (probably completed the least side content on this one)
Syndicate - 33 Hours

None are 100%, though apart from Unity I would have done the vast majority of the content.

Card City Nights 2 got delayed to 2 September. It was originally slated to release in the midst of the summer sale.

Unrelated but here's a new Adult Swim published game:

Kingsway is the #1 operating system for daily tasks such as skeleton smashing and loot-organizing. Trouble sorting through all your potions and swords? Don't worry! Kingsway can help you manage, and with an easy to use interface you'll have time leftover for a peaceful stroll through the underworld.

Interesting premise.

About the limits of F2P gaming...

I'm not sure I like the ideas of:
  • Magic requiring an account on another platform than Steam,
  • Magic Duels coming to a halt.

I'd pay a stupid amount of money for a remade Shandalar with all the expansions. Hell, put the standard edition in Shandalar and charge for each expansion as DLC. There are over 70 expansions...that would be quite a windfall. But I guess they'd rather have that multiplayer money.

Do you think we'll see Halo and Gears of War games on Steam anytime soon?
XBox One S is really cheap at the moment, and you can get a used fat One for around 120€ here, I'm wondering if buying one would make sense to play those exclusives.

Valve shouldn't offer this locking tools to publishers without the intention to regulate regional prices. Now we just end up with several countries with US prices slapped on top of draconian gifting restrictions.

Probably not soon, but I remain confident that Microsoft will eventually let the other shoe drop and release its WinStore games on Steam with Uplayesque Xbox app integration, especially since it's already releasing Steam versions of select titles (namely Quantum Break and Halo Wars: DE), ostensibly because they were deemed to no longer hold value as WinStore exclusives.

How many exclusives does Xbox One even have at the moment that aren't available on PC or any other console? I can think of Sunset Overdrive, Rare Replay, Master Chief Collection and Halo 5. Me too am considering getting one for those and backwards compatibility.

Lol, there's a scene at the beginning of the first one where NPCs are supposed to not have faces. If that's still the case later into the game then it'd be definitely a bug, but make sure you're not talking about that specific scene.

You pretty much listed them all. Its only a handful of titles really. There is also some older Forza games and some Kinect titles but I don't think anyone cares about that stuff anymore.

I've recently replayed AC1 halfway through op Uplay and I haven't really come across any technical problems. In fact, visually it still looks pretty damn amazing all things considered, especially if you downsample it from 4K. However, it's the gameplay that has made it age less gracefully, especially compared to later entries.

That said, I wouldn't recommend you 100%ing it. If you do that, the repetitiveness is going to kill you and sour the experience. Without treading into spoiler territory, do the required three assignments per mission and then continue.

AC II is still the best. And to a somewhat lesser extent followed by Brotherhood.

I should be able to finish Castlevania Mirror of Fate and realMyst by today.
MoF has been a bore so far. Starts out OK, but then gets more boring by the minute :/

I'd do all the missions in ass creed 1, they each give more details into your target, it's pretty cool
just avoid stuff like the flags

Yeah, the flags are pointless. Collecting them does increase your sync rate/health bar, but it increases and eventually maxes out as you progress through the assassinations, anyway.

Ive become interested in playing Black Flag on PC now. Bought it years ago on sale, but haven't touched it due to Ive already played the PS4 version by the time I bought the PC version.

Wasn't Gears of War 1 on Steam and got pulled at some point? Or am I hallucinating?

wait what?

OK, I might be hallucinating then, I was sure it's on win10 store

The UE is, but not the original, 2007 version.

How legit is CDKEYS really? Ive never bought anything from them, but they've got Prey + DLC for 219 nok aka 25 USD, was 285 previously for some time and then 245 before that again.

http://www.cdkeys.com/pc/games/prey-pc

I don't think it's gonna get any cheaper during Steam summer sale next week.

It's legit insofar that you're unlikely to be given an invalid or otherwise unusable key and likely to receive a refund should that happen.

Hm... The only wait it'll be cheaper during the summer sale is if it's over 30% off on Steam.

Decisions...
