OP made a jab
it's tit for tat
I jabbed OP back
I didn't generalize an entire fanbase or engage in the fanboy war
You sure? The fact that you use words and phrases like 'jab' and 'tit for tat' says a lot.

Its not like the footage was running on an xbox in the first place.
Sloppy work on the editor's part. Shit like this makes me upset that I can't land a job in the industry, leaving me stuck doing local news promos.
SonyGaf out in full tonight! Must be ea huh?
Just imagine the outrage if xbox was showing a trailer of PS4 pro gameplay and claiming it was Xbox one gameplay! Hoo Boy!
What happened to this thread lol
What was it running on? Honest question because people keep saying this so matter of factly but I really want to know if this game is going to support CheckerBoard Rendering on PC like the footage that we're talking about shows.
Are you trolling?
I'm not Xbox I'm X▲⬛O..............ok?*Jay-Z voice* ok?
To be clear, the platform holders do have guidelines for media submitted to them, and one of those guidelines is about showing platform appropriate button prompts.i really don't know what you want from me at this point
it's proven in this topic, that footage from different (not the own) platforms is regularly used on the YouTube channels from Sony and Microsoft - and that stuff also happens on other occasions

Your argument applies just as well to scenarios showing PS4/X1 base games in the past. That does not mean that publishers and platform holders should shirk their responsibility to be honest in their marketing. Just have some fine print with an asterisk saying its the X1X footage. Just like devs do when showing Pro versions of PS4 games. By your argument they should be ok ditching that approach since ya can rarely see the difference between PS4 and Pro on a 1080p tv, right? But why argue in favor of less honesty/transparency?

Sony and MS are not the ones who would have made this edit.
With the game this far off, most likely PC. It would be very surprising if they optimised the game for Xbox One X already as the game is still very much in development and will see lots of changes. Also, even when it's a PC build that was shown, that doesn't mean it's the consumer PC build.
Most pre-release footage comes from PC hardware and not the actual console systems, even for exclusive games.

As i said, most consumers wouldn't care so why should i? I'm not going to get hung up on the fact the xbone trailer for the latest cod is being shown on its youtube page and looks exactly the same as the ps4 channel and were likely created from the same capture source (probably PC). And Horizon on a pro doesn't look discernibly different enough to need any sort of call out stating which version has been captured. It looks fucking fantastic, go buy it. Now, if the pro version had features which the base version didn't and was being used in advertising for both versions, thats a problem. But that isn't how these cross gen versions of games work.
i honestly wouldn't care if all trailers for all third party games were all captured on PC because the PC version doesn't look different enough for it to matter. If pc versions of third party games looked a generation better while the console versions looked like n64 games, then yeah, thats no good. But again, that isn't the reality of games these days...reality is that we are firmly in the "300% zoom to see differences in AA solutions" territory lol.
I agree but Sony also should not have released that video on its channel. They should have insisted on a proper PS4 game recording from a PS4 Pro or similar spec'ed PC.
It's pointless and a waste of time for the developers. I doubt there is even a PS4 version of this vertical slice of gameplay.I agree but Sony also should not have released that video on its channel. They should have insisted on a proper PS4 game recording from a PS4 Pro or similar spec'ed PC.
No platform holder has those standards. Media captured is supposed to be indicative of expected preformance, but Sony, MS, and Nintendo don't have the time, energy, or inclination to police the specs of the computers third parties are capturing from, especially for products this far out.I agree but Sony also should not have released that video on its channel. That's never going to be an industry-wide thing. Ideally all footage on a respective console makers channel would be actual footage from that console but that's not how it works.
Good grief. It's in alpha!

You know, OP didn't have a problem with "misleading" stuff in this thread.

...
Then they should say what it is indeed running on when advertised for whatever platform.
A lot of people are, including the OP and people trying to be outraged at Sony. Works both ways bro.If you're going to go through the guys search history to try and pull a gotcha, at least learn to read?
" much of this discussion is overblown and exaggerated, just like the animation"
He's literally saying in the post that the animation is exaggerated. Not sure how you read that any differently than it plainly says.
The other guy trying to pull a gotcha with the pro-PS4CrossPlay picture (how is that a bad thing) and the CBR-roach joke (in a thread about literal thread where literally every other poster is joking about roaches...
You guys are trying to hard.
Even they don't hold that standards we as consumers should urge them (the platform holders) to do so. At least in my opinion.
Its 100% running on a PC. Early footage on multiplats are almost always doing so. Shit would not be that optimised for consoles so early. What was it running on? Honest question because people keep saying this so matter of factly but I really want to know if this game is going to support CheckerBoard Rendering on PC like the footage that we're talking about shows.
You'll go on to do greater things, scitek. I believe in you.
Then you dont know how game dev works. So far, we have no reason to believe it wasn't running on Xbox
Obviously I agree. In my post that you quoted I said ideally they'd show the actual footage from the respective console.
Then they should say what it is indeed running on when advertised for whatever platform.
Or at least that. But I doubt any platform holder would like that idea .... LOL

With proper button prompts. Like, you don't see circle, triangle, square, cross buttons in a trailer on a Nintendo youtube channel. But you think the platform holders are responsible to edit their own version of the trailer.
To sum up this thread:
Sony bad
Maybe it was EA?
Lol SonyGAF is here
Microsoft does it too
Microsoft got unfair treatment last time, so it's Sony's turn
Lying is standard industry practice, leave Sony alone
Fanboy drivel
More fanboy drivel
I was only pretending to be a fanboy.jpg
This thread is like the gamefaqs of Neogaf.

I was going fast lol. Noted.
Again, I'm just trying to see how feasible it would be to leave the CB Rendering in the PC version if it was running on PC. I don't own an Xbox and dont care if it's running on Xbox or not. I'm just selfishly trying to see if I can expect CBR on the PC version.
A lot of people are, including the OP and people trying to be outraged at Sony. Works both ways bro.
You missed the point, he down played that misleading ad as just illustrating the 40% difference.
That could be hand waived as an exaggeration but this button prompt thing is a huge deal.
