So... I'm possibly considering Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and/or Dishonored 2.

I just want to check with anyone here how the games run these days. I remember hearing a lot of issues when they released - have any here with issues stopped having those?
Dishonored 2 runs way better now. I'm honestly glad I put my playthrough on an hiatus while they patched the performance issues out.

DH2 runs quite a bit better, but it's still not perfect. Fortunately it has a demo available; give that a try and if the second level (the docks) runs at your expectations you can feel pretty good about the rest of the game doing so as well.

I tried it for a while on the first level and it ran fine with some minor hiccup. I've also heard the demo is based on an old release, though, so I'm not sure how representative it is?

Edit. Strange, seems like the demo is getting updates. Wonder where I got that from...

One thing I did notice in the demo, though, was that it seemed quite blurry? I remember DH1 being quite clean, but here it felt like a big smear. Any idea why? Imagine it could be an art direction thing (to mimic a painting), but who knows.

Might have been adaptive resolution, but the game also kind of just looks like that.

I really wish the "Throttling limited to xxMB/s" line on the download page would be permenantly there instead of just when you have an actual throttling going on.

When you have a limit set it's super quick to either turn it off or change the limit but if you don't have a limit you have to go all the way deep in the config menu to set it up... It's a dumb design.

Yep, agreed. I don't know why it's not just an always present drop-down box on the download page, with the various speeds just a click away at all times. Valve don't really know how to do UI/UX.

Set your limit above your max download speed when you're not using it = easy access to that option all of the time without digging through the menus

WinGameStore's Summer Sale has some pretty solid deals, beating the Steam sale in numerous cases. Here's what I've noticed so far:

Faerie Solitaire - $.34 (this seems to be highly recommended by numerous GAFers, so I'm picking this one up)
MGR: Revengeance - $5.99
MGSV: Definitive - $19.49
TWD: New Frontier - $9.99
WWE 2K17 - $12.49
GTAV - $24.99

Welp that's around $150 spent on Steam games. Should any pop up in bundles, I'll be refunding them within the next 14 days :V

Hope you didn't forgot about the shitty space harrier segment :))))

Bayonetta would be a much better game if these two were optional for chapter award rankings
yeah i think bayonetta is a lot more weird than i remembered

the pacing and the storytelling are really strange, game kind of feels really aimless

I've never had issues buying with my own Visa CC. Does Steam require you to have a 'Verified by Visa' Password for any online purchases?

think this sale (probably previous ones also but this one in particular because of how the year has been for me gaming wise) has finally solified the idea that at this moment in my life... actually buying games full price day 1 is the way to go.

(5 years Ago Rhaknar is gasping at this)

I had about 39€ in my wallet when this started, and give or take a few more €s from cards during it, that is what I spent. I look at what I bought, and either I havet touched it, or I have no interesting in touching (at least right now)

It's kinda like the humble monthly problem, except there at least I just treat it like another sub (like Netflix or whatever) so its kinda easy to forget, but the same problem applies, I usually never touch any of those monthly games. And they are good games!

Then I look back at this year and what did I play the most? Horizon, Persona 5, Zelda. All bought day 1, all played instantly and for many many hours. Even Toukiden 2 on PC, which I didnt finish, but I did play for like 25 hours. Oh and RE7 on PC, bought day 1 and played/finished imediatly.

Day 1 games you buy (well I buy) because you just gotta play them right that second right? Sale games on the other hand, It's the old "building a library" conundrum, Im buying these sale games to have them, not to play them, or to play them eventually when I feel like it... but what I realise more and more is that moment never actually happens. Looking at a 4k+ library which many of us now have also makes the whole thing redundant, nobody is ever gonna play that shit, much less an old fart like me.

Hell the silliest "day 1 vs sale" moment for me is, I bought Last Guardian earlier this year on sale... still havent touched it. I only bought it cause it was 50% off very fast after release so I was like "oh damn thats cheap I guess", and yet I played those other PS4 games that I bought day 1 imediatly.

So yeah, just wanted to rant / get it off my chest. I'm not trying to dissuade anone from buying shit on sale btw, I remember those first sales fondly, that was hella fun. And I guess back then I did play the games I bought on sale, I dunno.

idk what happened tbh

was working fine last month, then all my patreon subscriptions (i buy way too much fanart lol) and giantbomb and shit blew up and i couldn't buy anything on steam or nuuvem or anywhere.

i tried buying like a 50c game with my mom's credit card and that works just fine, so i call them, they go like "it's surely an issue with that website", even when i'm like dude i just told you i tried on 4 different sites over many different days and when i use a different visa card it works so it's 100% an issue with you, but they're just like "wait 2 hours and try again". they asked which site i tried it on and i said nuuvem and they probably manually enabled that cos it actually worked, but it's still not working anywhere else

now i call and they ask me for the bank branch where i got my card

wtf do i know

i'm trying to give you money for free visa ffs

you blood sucking shits

Deciding between Bioshock series and Wolfenstein The New Order.

So how bad is Bioshock's gunplay compared to Wolfenstein?

Buy Wolfenstein, it's so good, and the gunplay is considerably better. Also get the prequel if you can, it's short but heavily focused on combat so just fun throughout.

very bad, it hasn't aged great (it even feels bad in infinite) but shooting has never been the point of bioshock, so it doesn't matter all that much

wolfenstein is a pretty good game, but kinda forgettable imo. like i can barely remember much other than some jimi hendrix looking dude being in it

bioshock is a crazy creative universe so i feel a lot more attached to it even if it's not that well realized

it's a weird comparison to make, they're different games in a way that's not easy to compare. imo bioshock is a much more interesting game but they're both really cheap so just get one and then get the other next sale

Hmm, might I suggest trying registering a verified by visa password? It's basically a security measure of sorts, WHERe you enter that password every time you make an online purchase, maybe the visa network noticed you don't have a password and is acting up?
IF you try to register the password and it tells you that it is already registered, contact your bank and ask them to reset it for you so you can register a new one.
Sorry that's about the one way I think your issue might be resolved :X

Redout or Thumper?

Two extremely different games, both awesome on their own.

Thumper: Rythm game all about timing of button presses. Amazing atmosphere. If you are planning on getting VR anytime soon, wait to get this in VR.

Redout: Wipeout style racer with awesome graphics and great sense of speed.

my answer? BOTH!

I know how you feel, I'll get a new game and easily put dozens of hours into it but when I'm supposed to go through the stuff I got from sales/bundles I often have trouble playing more than a few minutes

Maybe if you're buying games for more but it's all stuff you're playing a lot it'll end up being relatively cheaper

yeah it's kinda weird, my credit card is like an extension of my mom's so i don't think i have a user or anything

idk wish they wouldn't be super useless when i call em, specially cos there's like 17 steps you need to go through every time you call

Yeah, this is pretty much me as well since the last year or so.

I realized that if I didn't buy a game from its release week, then it means that I don't have that much interest in the game in the first place. And even though I finally buy it on sale later, I wouldn't have the urge to play it. I bought so many games full price lately, and everything has been worth so much than $5 games that I would never play.

i think what rhaknar says is pretty spot on, i used to do something similar by just buying games that i was planning to play right away

it's hard to force myself to do it these days tho when i got enough money to make these kinds of bad decisions ;_;

[snip]
You know what, I can totally get behind this, especially since most of the games I've put dozens/hundreds of hours in were games I bought day one and I very rarely do so for games I bought on a sale.
