Yep which is why we switched to rice. I honestly don't miss it yet! Hard to beat a great chicken carbonara spaghetti though I admit.

Isnt rice just as bad? Either way i dont eat much pasta but when i do i enjoy it. Do prefer rice as o find curries more delicious than the usual pasta dish

I gave up gluten, dairy and a lot of artificial sugar. Combined with exercise 4-5 times a week I've lost 14kg in 10 weeks.

Just going to keep on going.

I almost impulse bought it but based on the conditions that are required for it to work as intended, didn't end up getting it. Easier just to use a long HDMI cable from my PC in the end.
I have two - one connected by 5GHz wireless, and the other by 5GHz wireless but using an extender as a bridge (so the connection is at least 300Mbps, usually closer to 750).

I was skeptical because when I moved house I'd been using it connected by ethernet cable. But it's fine. I'm not one of those "gotta be 60fps at all times, no dips, TV can't have more than 20ms input lag" guys though, so YMMV. But I love the Steam Link.

I lost the NBN lottery.

I had a solid ADSL2+ connection with ~24Mbits Down. But when I switch to FTTN the best I could get was 15Mbits Down and 5Mbits Up.

Apparently not enough people in my street have switched to NBN so I'm under the coexistence period, where they artificially lower NBN speeds so that people on ADSL aren't affected.

Silver lining, at least my monthly internet bill is reduced, ping times have drastically been lowered, and I can finally upload stuff to the cloud.

Although if I knew about this I wouldn't of switched.

The way I read this is the only people who are affected are the people selling those people ADSL. Or is this some technical thing?

Wow that sucks. I went from 10/1 on adsl2 to 100/35 on fttn so it's been quite nice (and cheaper.. for now...)

What? They hobble the NBN - whose sole purpose is to get a higher baseline broadband speed in the country - so that people on ADSL ... don't feel bad??

We moved from 100/40 to 50/20, as the only thing that really used the full speed available was Steam.

$20 cheaper too.

Apparently is a technical thing. If they increase NBN speed/power-output then the ADSL lines start to de-sync. I guess I have to go around knocking on doors like a mormon convincing my neighbours.

How close were you to the exchange to get 24Mbps on ADSL? And is 15/5 the max you can get on FTTN currently regardless of what tier you sign on to? That's awful if it is.

I moved from ADSL to FTTB NBN, same price but my speed went from 16/1 to 90/35.

We were connected to a Telstra tophat?/RIM? aka node which is about 300m. The exchange was like 3km away (But the Telstra tophat/RIM gives a good boost).

Apparently the coexistence period can last until the ADSL cut off date. Which for us is late 2018.

15/5 is the max line speed at this stage. No matter what plan I go to.

Given the high amount of trust we have that our government can get a single thing right with computers and privacy, I encourage y'all to read why and how you can opt out of electronic medical records.

(yah, I know right? a link to google plus! I thought it was dead too!!)

Given I use it every day I didn't :)

What of course is interesting is that I have 2 factor enabled on my my.gov account so I need my phone to access my medicare or other connected accounts. What of course is sad is that they've basically killed medicare cards as an element of ID with this breach given make medicare cards can now be created. At least temporarily, I guess they'll need to cancel every card and then give everyone new ones.

Well for me at least bailing on pasta and rice has mean my blood sugar is mostly normal.

And I think you'll find diabetes rates are climbing much higher in asia in recent years. Not sure if that's the influence of western cuisines there or what.

http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/92/6/1468.full

I tend to only eat brown rice so i assume thats better for my blood sugar.

I have always had a dad bod, yet to become a daddy though ha.

Yep, and the highest life expectancies. I think the anti-carb thing is a bit overstated.

It's more to do with fructose without fibre.

Pasta and rice contain starches that convert easily to glucose. This sends your insulin up and your leptin up.
Leptin (satiety hormone) tells you you're full and makes you stop eating.
Apple juice (fructose) is bad. Apples (fructose and fibre) are good.
Sugar (glucose bonded with fructose) is bad.
Lactose (glucose bonded with galactose) is good.

The anti-carb thing is essentially about gettng your insulin under control.
Fibre helps that enormously when you take in carbs. It helps supress ghrelin (hunger hormone) and slows absorption of carbs.

Carbs are delicious.

I have fully embraced my dad bod.

I'm married. No need to pay attention to my body anymore hehe.

I try to exercise a few times a week, but I drink stupid amounts of beer and love food. Pretty much all kinds of food. I'm sure my body will crack the shits and spoil my fun sooner or later.

Hah. I'm 45, and I put on about 10kg in my gut in my late 30s, right on cue just like my dad as if it was on some sort of metabolic timer, and even with regular exercise and a ... "not horrible" diet, it's almost completely stable in my gut. I could probably go extreme dieting, but I'm reasonably sure that if I did get rid of it, it'd come back as soon as I went off an extreme diet.

You're in for a treat: DLC doesn't get any better than the W3 expansions.

The first one is okay. The second one is where I was blown away at the amount of content and the quality.
... I should replay W3.
I really loved them both for what they were.

The first was focused almost entirely on storytelling, without having to worry about the big 'epic' Witcher 3 story backdrop or doing a massive map expansion. It was way more focused on atmosphere and TBH I think I enjoyed the plot (and particularly the antagonist) even more than the vanilla game.

The second obviously had a much larger scope, but what it brought to the table in terms of a completely new map and setting came a little bit at the expense of atmosphere and tighter storytelling. It was big enough that it could have been sold as its own game for full price and it still would've been amazing value.

Booked a few days off to piss off to mainland Europe for a week, gonna need some switch games to relax with. I have beaten BotW and picked up Snake Pass cheap, but what else is fun, single player and out by the end of july?

(not an MK fan and had MK8 on Wii U so didn't rebuy, also have Lego CIty on Wii U but would replay if it were cheaper)

Are Splatoon 2 and Puyo Puyo Tetris good for SP? I got someway into the first Splatoon single player but found it a bit frustrating and gave up.

such a pity there are no VC games to play

wasn't very long or challenging, looks like they're amping it a bit for the sequel, but it's always going to be not about that

Do you include the final boss battle in your "wasn't very challenging" assessment? I already know I'm bad at video games. I'm asking because I want to find out how bad.

Is there any news on when steams prices will increase by 10%? Thought this was going to kick in on July 1.

Valve and the ACCC are still going at it, launching cross-appeals against and for the previous decision. Nothing will probably happen until it's all finally sorted out. Ebay have started charging GST on seller fees already and even on their internal postage service.

Jasec might know more about what's actually going on atm.

Splatoon 2 demo - Well as my first splatoon thing, and first switch game of this sort it was interesting. Controls are really kind of interesting, the whole motion controls on a handheld. Seems to run well though.

Its available now? Why havent they put out an arms demo..still undecided on whether to buy the game or not and a demo might sway me to buy it. Why wouldnt they demo a new ip rather than an established (sort of) ip.
