we talking about awesome low poly artstyle in here?

I love this game so much

I actually got ffx because of blitzball. Was on the fence because the game looked bad and after seeing it at my friends house I got it.

Yakuza 6 has a baseball mini game that is random and decided by your stats. Like blitzball you start with a team of losers but unlike blitzball you dont really get to the point you faceroll the other team. its also mostly watching a simulation of the match and you get to manually hit the ball 3 times or so in a match. I didnt like that sports team mini game.

Enter for Hyper Light Drifter if you don't have it already. a great LttP/Souls-like game that still has its own identity. Really glad the lead creator of the game got to see it finished.

I have such a fondness for really blocky and simpler 3D models. Especially with today's hardware you can have low poly look without all the negatives that first came with it.

Is there a tag or curation group for games with this visual style?

The style doesnt look consistent to me. Maybe you can make a tag and see if it trends. Something like old school art.

https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models/military/character/army-girl-02 I wasn't even looking for it. It's just too obvious.

There are circles of modelers that set tri limits, 100 or 200. Look for that group and they might have a name for it. Tri-restricted or something.

All I see is "low poly." I wish there was a more specific name.

If Yoko Taro were to make an adventure about lies, money, debt and poverty, it were like this

From the same guy that made actual Sunlight - a game that nobody but me played apparently - and it's very, very good

Another one for the wishlist. I thought Actual Sunlight was rather interesting, nice to see he's made another game.

Holy shit @ Warframe getting open world support with day/night cycles.

That game already had like a thousand hours of complete free content and now they are adding all that stuff to it. Talk about supporting a video game wtf.

Anyone have any suggestions for a 3-player or more co op game, specifically with an online campaign? I've got two friends I'd love to play more co op games with but one of them has a Mac opposed to Windows, so it would need to be cross-OS.

Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine

But I don't know if that fits the definition of "Campaign" but it meets 3-4 Co-op and Mac it also has a 4 pack

Torchlight II supports Mac. It's a fun action RPG with a ton of loot similar to the Diablo games.

Borderlands, and any of the prequel/sequels (edit: didn't see it was posted)

Left 4 Dead 2 if you haven't played
Dead island
Payday 1/2

I just sent in a refund request for Just Cause 3, and it's one of those cases where 2h didn't feel like enough time.

The performance was kinda ok during the first two story missions I played, but after that, when I started to just drive around and mess upp cities, the framerate started to dip, and was all over the place. I now get anything between 25 and 60 FPS in those cities, depending on how much action there was, and where I looked. And by that time, I had 20-30 minutes left to try and troubleshoot the performance, before I would hit the 2h limit.

Not sure if Steam really is that strict with the time limit, but I didn't want to take any chances.

Was just looking at Steam Stats and noticed the peak bandwidth used in the past 48hrs is 4.6 Tbps. Anyone know what the all-time high is?

Ive had about 5 weeks of vacation so far and managed to complete one small-ish (<10 hour) game and I have 5 more weeks of vacation.

That's a really big disappointment. I don't play as much video games as a I used to which orders me to think why the hell did I buy all those games at the steam sale?

Updated the OP with Tizoc's recommendations for June/July. As always, if there's a game out there that you think SteamGAF should take a look at, write up a few words about the game and get it in the OP.

Seems weird that Cold Steel isn't up there, when it's in the title.
I am just playing Trails in the Sky SC myself, and won't get to the Cold Steel games for a while, so I can't say anything about it. Might even drop the ball and be the black sheep of the series, for all I know

Amazing job with the thread, thank you for this, looks great!

I was not aware of Obscure Challenge Your Mind so thank you Wok as well for mentioning it, the colours in this game seem very calming and relaxing.

Quick Cold Steel write-up:

After travelling all over Liberl in Trails in the Sky, Trails of Cold Steel takes us to the neighbouring country of Erebonia. Even though each subseries focuses on a specific country, the events are connected in the grand scheme of things, with implications for the entire Zemurian continent.
The player assumes the role of Rean Schwarzer, a student of a military academy and one of the elements of class VII. At first life is how you'd expect it to be in an academy and Rean will have the chance to bond with his classmates, with a system similar to Persona's social links.
Like you're bound to expect if you've played Trails in the Sky, the game takes its time to build the world and characters, but make no mistake, shit will hit the fan.
Cold Steel marks the serie's jump to full 3D graphics, but don't expect much. Hopefully the PC version will bring some improvements but to be blunt, outside of the 720p resolution the PS3 version literally looks like an average PS2 game.
Models and animation are as basic as you could possibly get away with when the game released.
Don't let that stop you though, everything that makes Trails great is here. Even though the writing isn't quite on par with Sky, it's still better than most jrpgs.
Same for Rean, nobody holds a candel to Estelle but forget the comparison and just take him as he is, with time you'll give him the credit he deserves.
Gameplay is fundamentally the same as in Sky, though of course there are some differences.
If you're new to the series, know that battles are turn based but you can use your turns to move around the arena, useful for escaping the AoE of a spell for example. Characters gain abilities from quartz, which are set on a grid kinda like the materia from FFVII. Each character has a specific grid and quartz placement needs to be optimized to get the most out of it. Unfortunately the system has been simplified in relation to the Sky trilogy, some people like it better this way though.
The music is great as you'd expect.
All in all, expect to put at least 60 hours into this, though its likely to be 80 or more, unless you only focus on the main story.
In good Trails fashion, the first game ends with a huge cliffhanger, but the wait for CS2 will be short.
Bottom line: One of the best jrpgs you can find on steam, playing the Sky Trilogy first is recommended but not at all required. Just make sure you play each subseries in order.

FFX looked bad? at the time it was released? Are you serious?

this is hilarious

you should PM it to Uzzy, we still have no Steel writeup in OP

That's probably not what he means. Man, I hate Blitzball.
This reminds me, as amazing as it looked at the time, 2 things really bothered me.
The animation outside of battles was incredibly basic, character models had such a tremendous evolution over the PSone games but they had pretty much the same basic, robotic gestures which combined with the floaty running animation made the many realtime cutscenes very awkward.
Then there was the huge contrast in detail between the protags and the NPCs, which is even more apparent in the remaster.
FFXII did a great job fixing these issues.

Will do.

TBH FF12 was huge step back in aesthetics, character models in FFX looks way better than FF12 ones, the world (not dungeons) was a big step forward, it looks amazing at times.

As for Blitzball, there is nothing wrong with it, it's just a game, you either like it or you don't, I did. The one big problem with Blitzball was player scouting and training, due to the nature of that training, it took a long ass time to find out that some players get worse and worse the higher level he or she was, it was, well, very annoying, at least some hints to potential of low level recruits would have been nice.

nah FFX ingame models were about as bad as FF12's if not worse, they used 2 different models for cutscenes and gameplay

and the ones in FF12 were better due to better art direction

not gonna argue over it, cuz FF12 characters looked bad and blurry for me, like washed out and NPC alike even, while FFX looked crisp and alive, let's say different strokes for different folks.

your mom look bad and blurry!

that's very mature

I'm disappointed neither Picross game on Steam doesn't allow for creating puzzles by importing the row/column values.
All three I've tried (Pictopix, Paint it Back and Picross Touch) have you paint the picture with a mouse. That's... certainly non-optimal way to create puzzles. :\

no seriously tho, ff12 look about as sharp as ff10, the textures in ff12 were so good so unless you have a personal preference for 3d models with simplistic textures 12 is just so much better all around

I mean the actual game looked bad. The visuals were high quality as you would expect from a squeenix game but that doesn't help the game for me.
