In the movies he really isn't though.
Infinity War isn't in two parts anymore, though. They've emphasized that they're both very different, standalone films. So saying "Infinity War" is only halfway through shooting is a bit weird.

Observstion from the BTS:
- they show Kylo fighting something with a staff. Who would he be fighting if not Rey?? Rebelling or fending off his fellow knights?
- Rey fending off multiple lightsabers. Could just be a production goof, though having the Knight of Ren gang up on her seems plausible.

They've been talking about alternate universes within the MCU for a while, a big part of the sell for Dr. Strange opening the door for that kind of stuff. Methinks that has a lot to do with how the MCU will be structured or fragmented post-Avengers 4.
