WAPO: Sessions discussed Trump campaign-related matters with Russian ambassador

Yeah, imagine if Trump leaked this and it results in a felony conviction

E.L. Fudged

who besides Jr. would take the fall for trump? Flynn wouldn't, Manafort wouldn't, Carter wouldn't. Sessions isnt going to let Trump throw him out while having all the blood on his hands.

Support them!!!!!!!

Their work over the last couple of years has been incredible. They deserve the funding and support. Their subscriptions aren't that expensive for most of us who value their news.

Especially if you have a student e-mail address. You'll get a considerable discount.

As evidence of collusion appears, it seems like the next step for Trump is going for the "they were all colluding behind my back" defense. But if he continues to throw people under the bus, they'll turn on him and talk.

It looks like desperation is setting in, especially with this wave of resignations.

Does Trump own a gun? Will he commit suicide before he gets cuffed?

Committing suicide would admit defeat. Trump still has his public image to uphold until the day he dies. It's literally become more important than anything else in his entire lifetime, and America has suffered its consequences.

He has never once had to take accountability for his actions. He will not believe he has no way out until it's too late, if that time ever indeed comes.

He also seems to have a very fleeting relationship with reality, so there is a good chance that his delusional mindset will refuse to accept what's happening.

Part of the story is the interception of discussions.

WAPO had those intercepts back in June, which is the crux of the story.

So Trump just leaking this to fire Sessions doesn't fit with the timeline
Right, the guy said they dropped the story now because Sessions looks to be on the way out.

But how does Sessions bouncing on a Russia scandal help Trump at all? It's even more proof that Mueler needs to be there so it looks even worse getting rid of him than if Trump just fired Sessions, replaced him and then got rid of Mueller.

It can look as bad as can be and no one can do shit if Congress refuses to impeach. Looks do not matter at this point because anyone who supports Trump obv doesn't care how bad his actions look, and no one else can do anything.

Optics don't matter though to this admin. Hopefully Mueller if fired will give everything he has to multiple people in the IC he trusts to continue the investigation, covertly if necessary. As long as someone in the IC can get what's needed to the press it doesn't really matter if it's Mueller or someone else.

I wonder what the congress will look like after mid terms under a historically unpopular President.

Now he can appoint an AG who hasn't recused himself from Russia-related matters, and say that his firing of Mueller is part of a broader effort to wipe the slate clean to ensure a fair investigation.

This is the same guy who thought firing Comey would be hailed as a great bipartisan act because Dems didn't like him, after all.

That's what I wonder as well. They should go for blood on Trump to retain some sense of integrity (lol) with the less horrid parts of their base, but there is a chance that Trump is the hill they have chosen to die on.

We'll see. I sorta hope they go for it and we get a historically left Congress because of it.

Edit: Who am I kidding? Far too many racist idiots in my country to hope for that.

Depends on if the Dems decide to talk policy during the campaigns or just say LOOK AT TRUMP or RUSSIA. Everyone knows its shitty. But to have a land slide midterm (which dems rarely vote in anyway) we need to have policy be front and center ALONG with throwing shade at Trumps Russia ties.

WAPO may have been working on this since June, but it's possible Trump authorized corroborating evidence to be released just recently. The timing isn't an accident.

It's possible WAPO had information from former officials back in June, but now Trump authorized current officials to corroborate the story. [/4DChessConspiracyTheory]

Thanks to gerrymandering and voter suppression, probably not as different as you and I might hope.

The revelations of the last few days have me shitting bricks. I have a feeling the investigation is in real jeopardy at this point.

That doesn't make any sense, and the reporter said they dropped the story because of what the President said in the interview about Sessions basically falling out of favor.

Which I'm pretty sure debunks the whole "Trump did it"

Yes, it does

You say that, but think of the conspiracy nuts. "Was it really suicide?". His image will remain intact. Reinforced. Because his base is literally insane.

1. Nobody in this administration is smart or savvy enough to play 4D chess. Especially not Trump.
2. If Trump wanted to fire Sessions, he'd just fire him. He's never needed a cover story before, so why craft one now?

The funnier part in all of this is the talk about Trump attempting to fire Sessions and doing a recess appointment.

Even after just threatening republicans in congress and telling them they shouldn't leave for summer recess until healthcare is done.

So yea, anyone who thinks Trump is capable of anything remotely close to long term planning is giving him way, way too much credit.

I can assuage some of your fears on this front right now.

Here you can see the 2012 House elections, which occurred on the current, gerrymandered map that'll still be there in 2018. Democrats only won eight seats, but they came close in 15-20 seats.

In 2018, they need to win 24 to regain the majority - actually not that large a number, historically speaking. Those decent 2012 results came under a Democratic president. In 2018, we'll have a historically unpopular Republican president driving Democratic turnout. The President's party almost always loses seats in the midterms, and I think Trump will amplify that effect.

But what if voting patterns have changed, you say? I direct you to this analysis, which theorizes that the map will return to 2012-ish status without Trump or Hillary on the ticket. Again, Democrats performed very well on the 2012 map, and this time they'll be headed into the election having made inroads in some of the Sun Belt suburbs.

Is anything guaranteed? No. But Democrats can win on this map.

Now, back to talking about Jefferson Beauregard's being fucked.

The whole Trump leaks the most direct evidence his team colluded angle did it for me personally.
The fact that people still expect this admin to pull shit like this off is deeply concerning to me.

Half of these guys struggle to wipe their asses in the morning

Why say that, it's all but confirmed that Sessions committed a criminal act of perjury and Trump Jr. meeting with the Russian government was collusion meaning he was in on the whole deal right?

People are determined to ascribe these master plans to Trump. You really need to understand just how stupid and thoughtless he is.
