Street Fighter V |OTVIII| New Delayed Generation - Controversial Inputs

Ok, I've just confirmed that after almost 2 years of playing this game it just doesn't click with me. The fact that I have not found a main yet also proves it. I just can't seem to find a way to play the game how I want it to be.
Not to bring up the x amount of frames of lag in the game again (and I'm certainly not using it as an excuse), but I certainly feel like I can't react/respond quickly enough and I have a lot of "wtf, I blocked that" or dp's just not coming out fast enough. Does anyone have this feeling as well (compared to previous SF games or other fighters)?

It depends what you're trying to react to. If you're trying to react to individual attacks, that's not going to work for anything but the very slowest ones. The key is to expect an attack or set of attacks by recognizing the situation you're in. That comes simply from spending enough time playing.

As for DPs, the same applies. Generally you have to expect the jump in and the DP has to be at the forefront of your mind. If you aren't ready and you see a jump and then try to DP on reaction, chances are good that you'll trade or eat the jump in. Input lag is partly to blame but it's also just the case that anti- airing with heavy or special attacks can be hard if you don't practice it a lot.

When it comes to blocking I only feel like "Hey i blocked that" when the net code is acting up. Because like I said I'm not trying to block once I know they are attacking, I'm prepared to block when they are in range.

I think if all the data mined info is true and the new v system is true then chances are Capcom slowly putting these in for release of ssfv. MMOs do this all the time. They start putting in future content piece by piece along with new patches.

Abigails win quotes are interesting I like them, one of is to laura " I"ve never heard of your style, unless its called suck"

So are ed's, he seems ... like whatever that new group is... they aren't bad guys.

Kolin's while I like her are a lot of zealous cult babble.

I've seen a couple of those tags on CFN too and it does seem like they were a clan/group? Here's their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/TeamBCW/

Also, I think you were the first Abigail I ran into online the day he came out so that was a fun learning experience.

I see, thanks. Seems their team is no longer active, but the remnants remain. They always rubbed me the wrong way, for some reason.

And I've spent so much time with Abigail; I must be one of the people who has played him the most since release. Almost at Super Diamond with him, which I'm happy about.

God, what's going to happen when they don't announce SSFV at Capcom Cup?

Initially, the way I wanted to play SFV was offensive and kind of RTSD. That's why I thought Ken would've been a great character for me. But somehow my approaches would get stopped by pokes or bs moves equivalent to Laura's st.mk. So I tried to change it up and go back to Ryu and just play fb + dp game and occasionally go in and cross-up and do some shit from there or tick throw. So my gameplan was already focused on expecting the opponent to jump and be ready to dp, but even then like you say it will trade or eat a jump in.

I've also tried whiff punishing through shimmy'ing since that seems to be more of a thing in SFV, but somehow my pokes will always be beaten. I'm probably not timing it well, but I feel like Ryu's pokes are just not that as good as other chars. This makes me very hesitant to press buttons for poking and makes my play very defensive, which I feel gives the opponent so much control of space and just to get in very easily.
Oh and I can never ever pull of anti-air jabs while everybody just seems to have a free ride and do it on me (even against a cross-up).

I just never felt this limited/restricted in my gameplay as in previous SF games.

Seems like you just didn't give it enough time. Rushdown is always going to work in this game, lol.

I wonder what Capcom sees in Juri that they feel she is fine in comparison to the remaining SFV cast. She's not bad but she clearly is lacking something...

It's a shame since she's one of my favorite characters in SF5. I just hate feeling helpless when I play, so I had to stop using her.

First off, don't give up on Ken. You can play a mix of defensive and rushdown and he's more fun and higher tier than Ryu at the moment. If your approach is getting stuffed then work on the approach. Just because you can't rush in whenever doesn't mean you should give up on playing offensively. You just need to figure out your opportunities better.

I can sympathize with your feeling limited in your options, though it doesn't really bother me like it does you. My anti-air game is weak, and I usually lose out when I take the risk, so in most cases I just block the jump and get ready to tech. Other than that, though, I feel like Ken is a lot of fun and I can zone or rush down with mixups and frame traps as the situation requires.

Out curiosity what league are you in? How many hours have you played?

While I'm also excited by what's in store for S3, don't get too stuck on calling it SSFV.

I more or less meant with my post that there's a very good chance at CapCup they announce the first S3 character, the balance patch, and some stages and costumes. Even if big things are coming, they may not be coming this soon.

After the Switch hype train, I'm trying not to get too hyped over rumors. Hopefully Season 3 brings major beneficial changes.

This would be a disaster.

I'd be okay if the game stayed as Street Fighter V for its entire life, that would really buck the trend of the Capcom fighting game naming meme. The only reason why they might want to push through with it is for the retail refresh, but eh, I think there's something nice about SFV just bein' SFV.

If they're going for a big marketing push it'll have a name of some kind. Its traditional for service games to name their updates; that helps get people's attention and excite the existing fanbase.

Does anyone think she'd be overpowered if you didn't have to stock her specials? It is seriously the biggest reason I can't stand playing her, it is such an unfun mechanic.

Hm, I might need to get into Ken again then. I've always felt more confident when playing Ryu though, his blockstrings (though short) feel safer and st.lk is a great punish.

Anyways, I've only played Ranked for half a year I think and afterwards only Battle Lounges + Casuals. So once I got to Gold I didn't bother playing it again since the netcode was really bad back then.

It'll be called Street Fighter Victory

Isn't that a cartoon?
