bought while it was on sale and it's kinda boring?

there's not much to do, repaired my scanner, now I need some material I can't find for my ship and everywhere I go I see the same props(those buildings), all the while my suit depletes and I don't have nor can I find the resources to fill them up again, so I just die.
respawn, go the other way only to find the same space station again, the material that I need is again nowhere to be found.
"oh I can send resources to the sip" - "ship too far away"

I think I'm already done with the game.

There's tons of stuff to do, you haven't even started yet. You're not even off the planet, lol.

"Bollocks"

At least get off the planet and engage the story mode before you write it off.

Also, you can ALWAYS send resources to your ship, but you can't transfer them back. So I think you're not understanding some of the mechanics here, which is hampering your enjoyment. Learn the mechanics.

Contrary to my previous post - now if I access one of my storage containers and try to transfer items from my exosuit cargo slots the game basically turns into PS3 Skyrim.

Oh.

So how do I run into a portal? Is it just random?

You can use ur exocraft Roamer radar to search for a monolith, then in the monolith u can use a item like (gek relik if u are in a gek system) and it it point you a way to the portal of the planet.

If you dont have the item needed for the monilith, just try give the monolith the correct answer and ur reward will be 1 of those items, then u just have to scan again for a new monolith to give the item.

Progress halting glitches seem to have hit both my farmer missions (won't accept that I've planted Gravitino Orbs) and story missions (
I've crafted a Mind Arc but the teleport in my base doesn't give me an option to return to Artemis
).

I've found a new location I like on another planet in my current system so I'm thinking of moving and starting a new base there and hopefully that might kick-start the mission progress again (I think I read that sometimes works?)

Cactuses take a pretty long time to grow in general, probably even in a biome. I think fastest way I guess it plant them outside in a desert planet?

they take over 2 hrs which is why I farm for liquid glass as the entire crop is in in 30 mins. To make explosives pay you need to plant an extra 6 cactus per explosive and gather the rest of the crop every 32 mins and then make 4 lots of explosive after the 2 hrs 8 mins when the cactus finally grows.
Luckily, I had a huge stockpile of unstable gel from previous base. Eventually I'll have those 3 domes filled and the wait for the cactus flesh will be mitigated as they yield such a high quantity.

Does anyone have good farming guides? I really hate that it's the best way to make money - not a fan of it, but gotta do what you gotta do.

Also, hope the new patch fixes my vehicle terminal. I only have access to the first rover.

It's the steadiest money, but others have said that higher-rank missions can pay in the millions, so there are more "active" ways of earning money. Also scanning payouts can be increased with new scanning tech so exploration is a little more fruitful.

Best method is really just to shoot through the agriculture base missions to get recipes for plants.

Pro Tips for Newbies:

1) Want a strong Exosuit, Ship or Multi-tool but don't want to waste too many slots on tech? Build Theta and Tau tech first and leave Sigma (the weakest) to last.

2) Not enough Jetpack charge to get up a cliff? Hug the cliff closely while holding the Jetpack and Forward buttons and you will get to the top without running out of charge.

3) Not enough Jetpack charge to get from the top of a mountain to low ground? Launch yourself off with Melee Boost (melee button+jetpack button+sprint button -- practice it first) and keep quick-tapping (not holding) the Jetpack button to slow your descent while conserving enough fuel to land safely. Try this at your risk!

4) Sick of waiting for the Mining Beam to cool down? Let go of the button just before the charge runs out for an almost instant recharge.

Guys, the fauna and flora scanners are really cool! Make good money for not having a farm. It's funding my suit expansions lol.

Also for the life of me I can't find corprite. And do Nanites have any uses other than blue prints? I have everything I wanted.

Barter with aliens, some take Nanites and give you big $$$.

Seriously though, are you playing on Survival? It shouldn't be that hard to survive.

There are about a million things to do. You're stuck in a puddle and the game is an ocean.

Some pictures from the Portal Party that the NMS Galactic Hub had before moving locations. I've never been to the Hub, old or new, but love the idea of it and that it'll now be much easier to visit one day thanks to Portals.

Also a big fan of leaving messages all over the system before moving for future travellers to know about what once was there. I'm excited to go and read them one day.

How high level are we talking for the missions?

Oh yeah, only that rare alien dude give me anything substantial lol.

Coming in new to 1.3, i've done minimal amounts of either the Atlas path main quest or Awakenings main quest. Should i do one of these before the other?

So..I'm having LESS fun with the game after the patch, I think?

I started from scratch and blueprints seem so much rarer and farther between, getting 1/100th of a blueprint's worth in nanites where before I'd actually get a recipe seems rough, and I don't know what governs when/where a green question mark/point of interest shows up on my HUD. Sometimes they are like 30 minutes away, sometimes four seconds.

I feel like I'm playing it wrong, though.

At this point I always talk to NPCs and use their barter options (try talking a few times, most give it) and get either 3x the amount of units needed for the barter stuff or around 40-90 Nanites.

They need to fix getting blueprints you already have though. Sent them a bug report, I'd welcome it if others did the same. It's extremely annoying.

Okay, thought this was just me. Finding blueprints was so much easier in 1.0 and now it's tied to the nanites currency. I wish nanites didn't take item slots.

And now blueprints are also tied to different ranks, which is just a bummer.

I get the sense that creative mode is taboo. If you get to this point, but you still want to travel then it's a great mode to relax in.

BTW...this red planet is pretty red. No filters.

Some of the quests and guild missions (if you have positive rep with the races) are I believe where the bigger nanite rewards (and blueprints) are to be found.

The early game definitely seems to be a different experience than launch, but what we had at launch didn't really have coherent gameplay systems. Now at least earning blueprints feels like an accomplishment. If you're just not happy with the slow burn of the new progression system, you can always play Creative mode where everything is free and you just can focus on exploring.

I'm reading about farming and I'm blown away, I had no idea it was as expansive as it is. Can someone help out someone who just started a new game and knows nothing about farming to get started?

Wow, that's cool. Absolutely love the new draw distance.

I'm not sure it's really that expansive. Seems more like an interminable grind to me, but hey, I'm not a farmer, lol.

If you're really starting out just follow the Awakenings storyline, then pick up the base quests when they kick in. You need to get your base going first.

Yeah, pretty sure that's the case. I'm not even sure why they'd still give you the option to go to another galaxy if full MP is on the horizon.
I'm a little out of the loop, the ghost coop exploration is out now but full MP is confirmed to be coming?

I went back to pre-Foundation shots and the draw distance (for terrain and flora) looks the same to me. 1.3 seems to draw grass for a longer distance before turning into a static texture though.

From the 1.3 patch notes for the Joint Exploration feature:
While interaction with others is currently very limited, this is an important first step into the world of synchronous co-op in No Man's Sky.

The main thing with the draw distance I notice is flying high over the planets, you can see all of the terrain now.

This piano piece from the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful – Timestamp: https://youtu.be/H6SoRw_rEuc?t=116. This game will never go down with the greats, but some of the moments in it are unparalleled compared to any other. There are moments of genuine awe and emotion as I explore, and for that it will always be one that's close to my heart and I'll always dip back to. It's intensely personal as a journey I've found, I'm having trouble relating it to anything else to be honest.

YES!

When I first heard that I was like "whoa."

Yup, there are times where everything aligns and it's sublime. You arrive at a new planet, and you're lonely walking up a hill covered with gently swaying pastel grass. As you reach the top and gaze into a completely alien sunrise filling the sky with warm colors, multiple moons hanging just above the horizon, the music swells in.

It's unique. It's something no one else will ever experience the same way. It's special and fleeting and ultimately meaningless in the larger scale of things.

I have a bit of a technical question.

I'm running the game on 1440p and have everything on it's highest settings but it seems the in-game resolution doesn't really chance for some reason, text is still blurry and objects in menu's when examining them, like the model of your ship, exosuit and crates and other objects you interact with are all a low resolution, un-antialiased edgy mess.

I hoped the new update would have corrected this but it still seems like the resolution option is an illusion.

The 3D objects within menus (like the exosuit, ship and freighter models) have always been blurry like that, I'm guessing they're just rendered at a lower resolution (as in, they're blurry on 1080p as well), but everything else should be at your correct resolution (don't know about 1440p text though since I've never played the game at resolutions higher than 1080p).

Is there a way to transfer items into your Exocraft?

Not sure, but try 1 click in the item u want to move, then switch tab to exocraft iventory and try do drop the item there.

Whoever made the invetory managent of the game, did a terrible job. Its cool to have separated inventories and all, but switching item from one invetory to other should be muchhhhhh more simple. Especiialy the frighter inventory stuff. Like, u can be on land and send a item to the frighter, but to get the item back in ur exosuit u need to board the Freighter, pass the item to ur ships and them to your suit. Dosent make sense.
If you tap Triangle on an empty slot it will allow you to pick items to transfer there.
Oh yeah, also this.

When playing this game on my regular PS4, the TV switches to HDR video mode as the game supports it...I'm don't know if I'm seeing true HDR though. I thought HDR was only available on Xbox One S / PS4 Pro through the inbuilt capabilities...or am I missing something here.

If you press down on the D-pad it allows you to build tech.
Place a signal booster, use it, and choose to search for a drop pod

Make finding drop pods a priority for a while.

They changed a few things after 1.0. There's a quick menu on the D-pad now. Press up to get a list of tech you can build. Build a signal booster (requires iron and plutonium) and ask it to find a drop pod for you.

You can also press down on the D-pad to quickly refill shields, enter photo mode, and call your ship to your position.

Another useful addition is the ability to scan resource nodes to get secondary resources from them. If you scan plutonium crystals you can get thamium9 from them too. You have to scan each size of crystal as they count as different objects, and you have to do it again when you go to a different planet. Still saves a ton of time. You can also get small amounts of rare metals from iron objects this way.
Oh Jesus, I was pushing down on the d-pad and wondering why it wasn't there, I didn't know that UP on the d-pad was a different selection of stuff. >.<

Also nice to know I can refill shields and stuff in the d-pad down menu, I was just going to the full inventory for that.

No, PS4 base model also has true HDR. Was something they added in a firmware update (4.0) when the Pro came out.

Have they dsaid anything about patching the Atlus quest bug? I've got a 48 slot ship, a 25 slot inventory and I can't progress. There's no way I'm going to restart the game so if the quest doesn't get fixed within the next week, the game will go back into the trash

Are you talking about the last dialogue not triggering? Because I just had this happening to me and I'm sitting here googling a solution, lol.

I remember others having this problem but I didn't investigate further cause I didn't want to get spoiled. Is there a fix?

EDIT: apparently you just needed to go to the following Atlas station. Pretty unintuitive, but okay
