Played it.

Undercooked, bland ideas, breaking the 4th wall once again and generally underwhelming like the main game. I have no faith left in S-E to deliver an inventive and complete FF again with a good narrative.

How the bar has fallen tenfold.

Called it, they automated the climbing and the pipe traversing! XD I thought they could have tried something different with this collaboration, but it was just a facade, once again.

Tabata is a hack, using Xv as a testing ground.

Noctis and the Bros remain cool tho.

I got a pretty bad bug here haha. Do Not, I repeat, do not try to hide inside a haystack just when the alarms goes on, you'll get stuck :( lost my save. Also, save a lot.

They're not innovative, but each Final Fantasy XIV expansion has a good story. Parts of A Realm Reborn, and most of Heavensward and Stormblood are up there with the best of Final Fantasy.

As someone who enjoyed FF 15 a lot when it came out I was really looking forward to all those updates.

But for some reason everything that came so far didnt interest me at all. Lets see how the multiplayer will end up. Im a little disappointed that it will take place in its own world, and not in the single player world.

Really wish I did that cactuar timed quest. Getting Cactuar and Slactuar naturally is a pain. Finally figured out how to get them to spawn reasonably reliably and got a Slactuar on my first try, which is supposedly a lot rarer.

Still missing some kind of Magitek Bannerman. I have a missing entry between two of them, so I guess it's the medium strength variety.

Edit: Got a Cactuar, and an MA-X Patria dropped on me right after I went to a base a killed a couple Maniples.

Just missing 3 enemies now. An elusive 3rd variety of Bannerman, and 1 enemy in Leide and Cleigne that I have no idea on.

Edit: Hmmm. I think it's the level 18 variant of the Bannerman I'm missing. As far as I can tell, Bannerman are only ever encountered from dropships. I may have permanently missed him and only the level 45 ones are dropping now in chapter 15. I could use chapter select I guess, but I heard that screws up your progress.

Edit: Oh geeze. I figured it out. Rogue Karlabos and Rogue Behemoth are my missing entries. Both only obtainable via the Cup Noodle side quest, if you choose the other 2 options instead of Egg, and fighting the Zu. So, it's impossible to have a complete bestiary without using chapter select and replaying the Cup Noodle quest 2 more times.

I must say the Assassin Creed Festival is really beefy for a free DLC. I've spent almost two hours just finishing some of the side quests and the minigames before tackling the card key portion. I totally get why it is separate from the main game but it honestly would fit right in if the Assassin names and lingo were changed to more generic stuff (like instead of celebrating the Assassins, we could be celebrating an assassin type King of Lucis and his version of the Kingsglaive).

Nice job, SE overall. And free to boot.

Haha. I went back to chapter 8, got the Rogue Behemoth, then restarted it again for the Rogue Karlabos, and it just so happened to be right on top of the Timed Quest. I killed about 5 of those Malboros and noped right out of there. If I recall these are like, marathons of a hundred enemies. Screw that.

I'm noticing since the update, there's a ton of pictures where Noctis will be like "Hey, isn't that....never mind" and if you look closely you can usually find Carbuncle in there somewhere. Don't remember that happening before, but it's every time I camp since the update.

I have this installed, but I haven't felt like playing this game at all since the PC version was announced. I'll probably complete the Episode Ignis story, but I think my days of going for completion in this game are over.

Hmmm. In Chapter 5 I encounter nothing but the level 44 Bannermen. In Chapter 3 I encounter the level 6 Bannermen. onward to chapter 4 I guess.

Edit: Chapter 4 also has level 6 Bannermen. This last entry simply doesn't exist it seems.

My brother. :( Together we shall rise again! :

If he helms XVI and it's primarily a SP FF I'll pay attention, but I ain't going anywhere near another Tabata lead project.

I was no Aragon. Here's my true form.

Koozek, you and I will rise again in due time.

The chapter select and bestiary have been needed for a long time - now all of that super awesome lore cordoned off in mediums outside of the game that people use to prop up the narrative are actually being integrated into the game itself.

My only problems with them are that the chapter select presents you with chapters first and then has you pick a corresponding save file - this seems super backwards, as if two people are playing on the same PSN account with two distinct save files, this means the names, descriptions, and number of chapters will always be spoiled for a new player in an immediately accessible list instead of obscuring it behind a save file, where you'd automatically have the proper amount of available chapters pre-selected.

The bestiary has issues with load times and the UI being clunky but that's nothing new. Female models having their inspection controls disabled is pretty hilarious. If they feel they can't trust their audience to not perv out, maybe they shouldn't have modeled these things in an otherwise embarrassing way in the first place (nipples intact, etc).

Other than the finer details of how this stuff was implemented, these are the kinds of things that actually improve the game and that should always be prioritized over cup noodle helmets and power suits.

Alright, I haven't played since they first came out with the carnival. I now just got myself a dream egg. I see something about them hatching soon and it being used for an AC outfit unlock.

So do I need more than one if I want the outfit and see what it hatches into? Or do I retain the egg when used to unlock the outfit? I ask without having tried the AC fest and knowing how it works.

If you downloaded the latest patch that came a day before the AC fest DLC and load your game (either main game or DLC) there will be a short notificiation and then the costume will be in your inventory. The egg probably disappears afterwards; didn't check.

I literally just got it and the game is still on. Should I quit out and enter the AC mode?

Should I acquire another egg to save for a hatching or did I get that info from an illegitimate source about them hatching soon? (Or was it the game itself that mentioned that?)

Why would you want more than one egg, lol? Its only purpose was to get this costume. I think there was an in-game notification a few days ago that it would hatch soon, yeah (I guess after they announced this extra costume thing last week at gamescom).

I played XV then kinda fell off it at launch. Can anyone give me a quick summary of what the keys things are which have been changed / added in patches up to this point?

One to trade in for a costume, one to hatch? Again, I'm not sure how all of this works. Unless it hatches into the costume?

Bestiary Adamantoise crashed my Xbone, no kidding. The whole Bestiary thing is awesome but slow as fuck and running at like 20 fps.

The AssCree Festival is even dumber than the Chocobo one :(

This would be nice. Also, don't they still have some big updates coming adding more cutscenes to the game or whatever?

Deciding when I should start playing.

Play XIV.

Seriously.

It restored my faith in the FF series.

XV is garbage and should be ignored.

The most substantial stuff:
- New Game+ (no Hard Mode yet though)
- They increased the
ring
's power in chapter 13 to make the whole section feel less dragging. Also small extra section for Chapter 13 (~20min) where you can play as Gladio with gameplay mechanics from the Episode Gladio DLC and new cutscenes clarifiying a bit on
Ravus and the empire
. Accessable through the main menu too if you just want to play Gladio's section alone. If you play the main game until that point in the story you can choose to play Gladio's section too and then it skips a big part of Noctis' section, which many people didn't like.
- Off-road monster truck added for actual free driving
Code:
[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/2eVwFDG.gif[/IMG]
- Chapter Select and Bestiary
- Free Chocobo Carnival DLC that's still open until the end of September
- Free Assassin's Festival DLC that's open until the end of January

Full list:

Not really certain yet if they're gonna add any cutscenes into the main game's story, but it seems like they're only gonna add exposition and fill holes in the the story through DLCs like Episode Gladio and Prompto did (latter more). If there's gonna be substantial additions for the main story still I guess it'll come alongside the Episode Ignis DLC in November. I wouldn't count on it though.

This egg has no other purpose than "turning into" the bonus Assassin's Creed costume for Noctis. I honestly think they didn't know back then when they made the Chocobo Carnival what exactly the egg would be for and just waited to see what they could do with it, lol.

Dumb question, did they fix that awful grind chapter yet (12?)?
You mean 13 I assume. Basically, yeah. See above.

Thanks for the info, Koozek!

Man, I swore I remember reading that were planning on adding some cutscenes, or at least more story thrown in there somewhere.

Perhaps I'll just wait for Episode Ignis (as I have the Deluxe Edition) in case they add playable Ignis like they did for Gladio there thrown in the main story.

Don't want to have to play through this twice.

Just finished the AC festival, and my only question is, "why on earth did they make this?"

I guess it's for whatever experience they are trying to gain as they prepare for whatever it is they are working on next, but it comes off as beyond bizarre.

Tabata you so crazy.

I haven't played FFXV since March, and just booted it up within the last few days (left off at the very end of Chapter 7). Did a couple of side quests, finished the chapter, then went into the AC DLC. Wasn't quite up to par, as a few minor things weren't super fun for me (the serving minigame, for example, seemed inconsistent with how the menu operated, so trying to quickly hand people their food was a chore, since sometimes the cursor would move, as when you ran out of that type of food, and other times it wouldn't), but overall, I liked it.

Not at all sure where you got "breaking the 4th wall once again" from, though, unless you consider the incredulity of an Assassin's Creed festival an inherent 4th wall break.

Final Fantasy XV: Square Enix Open to More Crossovers like Assassin’s Creed Festival
Tabata-san explained that Square Enix worked directly with the Assassin’s Creed development team as part of a close collaboration to bring the content to life. This level of collaboration was enabled by the mutual respect the two development teams had for each other.

Square Enix hoped for both Final Fantasy and Assassin’s Creed fans to enjoy the content, and Tabata-san believes that this goal was achieved. While there is nothing else planned at the moment in terms of other collaborations or crossovers, if another chance like this appeared that could be beneficial for both sides, it’s “definitely” something the team would like to look into.

Tabata-san also shared that the trailer was revealed at a fan event at Ubisoft’s booth at Gamescom, at first the Assassin’s Creed fans were surprised and they weren’t realizing what was going on, then they responded enthusiastically, and there were some Final Fantasy XV fans there as well, so he feels that the two fan bases overlap at least partly.

So there you have it, straight from the lion’s mouth. If you’re a developer and would like to cross your game over with Final Fantasy XV, the door isn’t closed. Give Square Enix a call.

Watch them do a Monster Hunter World crossover where you kill Behemoths in MH and monster hunts (no pun intended) with monsters from MH in FFXV.

I'm interpreting this to say that the main reason this was done was so Tabata and the team can practice inter-studio coordination. Makes sense since more and more projects these days require outside help.

That being said, unless it's a Persona style High School life sim starring Noctis, Prompto and the mysterious exchange student Lady Lunafreya, I'm not sure I want any more of these. I feel this weird compulsion to play anything FFXV even if I don't have that much fun with it, as it was with this experiment.

I think you misunderstood that. They didn't actually work on the DLC's implementation or assets together, just on sharing ideas and consulting. But yeah, SE already did actually work with several external studios on FFXV already, including the Japanese HexaDrive, the Malaysian Streamline Studio (additionally helping out with the UI and VFX for the FFXV fishing VR and worked on many AAA titles too) or the Chinese XPEC (also worked with Naughty Dog on Uncharted 3 and helped out on many other AAA games). It's not only outsourcing for asset creation either; iirc XPEC worked on the level-design and implementation of later areas too, including Chapter 13.
