In the original Beta for the game they literally said "Work in Progress" and said that those would be changed to proper cutscenes / dialogue scenes XD

Huh? I'm pretty sure they said they wanted to do those dialogue scenes the way they were. The only thing that was a work in progress was lip syncing and general polish but the idea was always "Characters on top of concept art" during dialogue scenes. They even had a behind the scenes video at one point which showed the tool they made for those scenes.

Concept art was big back then which is why many stuff involved it (like the intro scenes to the dungeons).

Finished episode 4 of LW3 tonight, the final fight was frustrating as a big Norn. Camera was zoomed in which made moving around the tiny room filled with AOE rather annoying.

Yeah, I definitely remember them being intentional as well. The under construction stuff was just because they were a work in progress(backgrounds had to be changed, voice-over added, etc)

I did it with my elementalist yesterday.

Yellow is not a good color for her, I don't think. Literally everything was broken, so I repeatedly went in, burst as much as I could, died, and did it over and over again 'til I won.

So I got a free character slot and lots of tome of knowledge, is it profitable to fast level up a character to 80 for the rewards

The level up rewards are worth basically nothing, youll get a few exotics you can flush with a forge stone and that's pretty much it.

Worst part of making and boosting a new character to 80 is getting rid of it all.

Oh god. Those were intentional?

Yes, it was intended to convey dialogue while showing off their beautiful concept art. While also doing something a little different.

I liked it personally but at the same time I didn't like it. I felt it was stiff and things didn't flow well, part of that was the audio editing where it sounds like a tape being played back to back with the awkward pauses between each persons dialogue, it didn't flow naturally. On top of that, the emphasis on the characters showcases the stiff reused animations really easily compared to talking during the game when the player has control.

I do wish it had worked though but it just didn't for the reasons stated above.

I didn't mind the dialogue scenes. It was kinda neat

Like I said, I liked it but it had quite a few issues. If they had worked it out, more polish and the characters didn't sound like robotic where you can tell exactly when one line has stopped and the next has been played (aka unnatural sounding dialogue) then it would have been perfect.

But alas.

I'm sure I speak for Hawkian when I say thanks everyone for coming to Guild missions! We did EVERYTHING we could this week, Treks, Bounty, Missions, Challenge, everything! Awesome job!

I started off being really opposed to them, but after a while they sort of grew on me. I do prefer the way they do them now though, where everything happens in the world.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is it worth getting and playing through LW2? would i need it say if i wanted more mastery points? or is it just lore mostly

It's just story stuff and connects directly to HoT. It does have one Core Tyria MP per episode (but it's like do all achievements for episode 1, 2, etc to get the MP I believe)

edit:

So just tried a Raid for the first time, as both Druid and Ele with my fiance in a training run of Mursaat Overseer. It was fun and the group was a pretty friendly bunch (it's from the discord for raid training that was posted on reddit)

Main issue with Druid is keeping up Grace which I can work on.

With ele, main issue is dps. my dps was so so so so low but I'm working on it and increased it a bit in the golem dummy after we were done. (need a lot more practice to get my dps higher though)

We got him to 40% at one point and we started to consistently get him under 60/near 50% before we stopped for the night but overall it was some good progress considering most of us were new. (at least 6 - 7 out of 10). It was this or escort but I'm happy regardless even though we didn't get the kill.

High.

Loot bags scale to your level so if you want higher level stuff, you should open them on a high level character.

I'm talking about specifically for mats. I keep reading you're supposed to open rare bags on 80s for the ectoplasms, but I can't find a consistent answer for exotics.

for ectos, rares and exotic items can be salvaged but with exotics, you'll also get globs of dark matter. (assuming you get any exotic weapon/armour from the loot bags) Along with ectos.

I finished Aurora today. It's really expensive for being just a single trinket, and I don't really like the floating orbs on it, but I'm committed to finishing every Legendary I can at this point, so I guess I'll live with it.

My friend convinced me to give GW2 another shot. I last played five years ago once I got a warrior to level 43 so I have pretty much no idea what is going on. Any advice?

Yay 4k gems.

is the BL Hunter worth it. I never actually have anything in my home instance besides the maguuma waste chest thing and the christmas tree

Recently started playing again.

What serve is Gaf on? and could I get invite to the guild?

Doesn't matter unless you want to WvW with any GAF people but I think many GAFers are on Stormbluff (?)

but due to the way things work now, regardless of what server your home server is, you can play PvE with anyone on the region you're playing in (so all NA people can play together in PvE and same with EU people on EU servers)

Nice one more day(damn Draconis Mons BP) and i move to Aurora part 2, still have to get a ton of Rubies and Shards, as far as money go, i have 150 Mystic Clovers, 500 Mystic coins, a ton of T5/T6 mats, I am probably spending 170g for the most, 700 Laurels....it's been a over a year since i last made a Legendary, mats are stock piling lol..

Well it looks like I'm going to use one of my boosts on an Elementalist.

Why do they get so much cool stuff? Being able to switch between 4 different bars for each weapon is amazing.

I looked at the HoT elite specialization for them and they get even more cool stuff.

EDIT: And I just looked at the PoF Ele stuff.

WTF. Now they have Thief's changeable third weapon skill except for Ele it's based on two attunements that they choose.

EDIT 2: WTF, it's not just for the sword, it's for every weapon they have.

Ele's are the favourite child.

Thinking about rolling a thief for PoF to go along with with my ranger.

Are they fun to play or would you recommend another class? So far I have only played with a ranger so I want to mix things up a bit.

Depends on your definition of "fun".

If you want to play batman with stealth and mobility, go for thief.
If you want inspector gadget gameplay with tons of neat tricks, try engineer.

I used the boost for buying the expansion on a mesmer. Should I just do the story stuff now? They really don't explain much when you use it.

The whole four attunements thing is a trick.

They only actually have Fire attunement.

And sometimes air for a few seconds.

And Water for healing reasons (and to chill if you need to slow an enemy down)

I don't use earth too much so I don't know much about it >.>

Well I've only played as ranger so far aside from a lvl 4 Guardian I made at launch.

Would like to play a second class when PoF launches and have no qualms about playing anything else.

Also possibly looking into a melee class.

Thief is my least favourite class. I'm not fond of the mobility requirement, the "dance" of the thief. To play it well you have to dodge a lot (both via endurance and via skills) and avoid damage via careful positioning and timing. I bet it is great if you like that kind of thing and can do it well, but for me it's just frustrating.

I like warrior a lot, guardian is great. I've recently started playing my condi revenants and is having a great time woth them even tho they lack fitting traits and stuff. So hyped that Renegade will give them a ranged weapon and more condi traits.
Melee necro is kinda fun, mostly reaper. I'm also quite fond of sword mesmers.

But I am not the one to ask if you want to be competitive or care about what works in groups. I play mostly solo and open world PvE. I couldn't care less of what the meta is or what gives the most DPS. I just play whatever I find fun.

Roll ALL the classes!

My personal opinion on what classes I liked during HoT at least:

Chronomancer > Tempest > Berserker > Reaper > Daredevil > Engineer > Ranger > Guardian > Revenant

Warriors, Necros and thieves get points for being straightforward to play. Necros lose points for having a difficult time with raids, at least with public perception anyway. Chronomancers and Engineer lose points for being difficult to play, at least when it comes to recommending the class.
