Trump 'wasn't aware of what scrapping DACA meant'

Don't worry, when he rescinds the rescind 1/3 of folks on this board will give him props for "ultimately doing the right thing." You'll see the usual "come on guys, I hate him as much as anyone else but he owned up and fixed it, gotta respect that."

This excuse is full of shit. We know damn well that many horrible things Trump wants to do, because simply his support base wants him to do it, like build that stupid border wall which isn't going to do shit. Trump won't let go of it even though it has lost its political usefulness since the election campaign is over. He keeps forgetting the latter point.

I think he understands the basics of it fine, the one line summary of it. He doesn't even remotely understand the wide ranging implications of it though.

This is probably the best way to look at it. It's one thing to see "if you repeal this, you will need to deport 800,000 people" but to grasp what that means in terms of actual implementation is another.

He knows it meant kicking out illegal immigrants and preventing new ones from taking advantage of DACA to get in.

That's all he knows and all he cares about.

He doesn't give a shit about any other implications.

His crime is not ignorance of consequence. His crime is ignorance of humanity.

Don't confuse his actions for anything else than pure racism and hatred.

This is actual fake news. Trump is just using his aides to try to make him look like an idiot but he knew full well the consequences. There is video evidence.

The republicans want to erase everything positive Obama did, now they can pass the dream act and pretend that it only passed because of a republican controlled house.

And yet today he tweeted -

Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can't, I will revisit this issue!

I honestly think that he has no clue and whenever he is pressed on specific policy details he improvise and trying most of all to look good in the interview.

'Legalize' DACA... Wait, the problem is that Obama set this up through executive order? This from the president who tried to pull a major shift in immigration policy with a Muslim ban through executive order?

Trump is fake news. He made the term widespread solely to net idiots that would allow him to speak said fake news without being fact-checked by a large population. Because the "fake news msm" just don't cover things correctly. They're all out to get him. Like Obama, with his wire-tapping (that didn't happen).

I have begun to lose my own outlook on human life over such a short time thanks to this sub-human. I used to feel that if I wished death on a person, that I was beyond repair. But you know what, if this man died today, I'd be glad. He doesn't deserve any more life. The amount of lives he's already screwed over, will continue to screw over, and will be happy all the while in doing so, will continue to pile. If he'd just die already things could only get better... Or at the very least, not as bad as he's taking them.

When both sides think that ending DACA was a bad idea, that's when you know you fucked up. I suppose he could save face and rescind it. Not sure how that plays out with his core, but his core probably didn't even know what the fuck DACA was. Other than it involving brown people that they don't like.

Fake news. This man has understood DACA since 2011. There is video out there of him talking about. He supported it back then. Now he is Putins and the Republican party's patsy. Many of them are absolutely over the moon with this announcement.

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/videos/a57330/trump-daca-compassion-video/

Asked on his favorite show ever, Fox & Friends, to weigh in on a squabble between Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich on immigration, Trump rejected the notion of throwing out a family that has been here "for 25 years" on the basis of "compassion."

It's kinda crazy how much easier it was to listen to and follow his speech back then.

Whatever Obama did, Trump will reverse. Damn the consequences. Trump doesn't need to know anything more about DACA than Obama supported it.

That's Trump's mandate this presidency - Erase Obama's legacy. That's why Congress failing on repealing Obamacare is chapping his ass so much.

Stupid orangutan. He would've done it regardless of whether he understood it (he's every bit as spiteful as he is idiotic).

I'm thinking he knew what he was doing, but like the Muslim ban, he equates what roughly one third of the electorate's desires as the "Will of the People."

I'm also wondering if the fact that he knew the greater business community would be appalled at this wasn't actually something that drove him this direction. Like the whole Obama did it so I hate it shtick, he's also been a if these elitists who won't accept me don't like me doing this then I'm gonna do it three times to spite them kind of dude for a long, long time.

"Wasn't aware" is a shit excuse. He should know what DACA is and all of its ramifications. And if he doesn't then it is his responsibility to learn them. That's his job. Admitting that he was not aware of the consequences of his actions is admitting that he is unfit to be the president.

Between having no heart for these people, no courage to announce the news himself, and now no brain to even understand what he just did, I swear this guy is like a one man Wizard of Oz cast.

I'm not in the US, so I don't have first hand knowledge of it. I just wonder how someeone can get to be at the position he is at and all he has done is 'oppose the previous incumbent'. It just sounds like the plot of a bad novel.

I am not saying this is not what is happening, but surely there are other influences that are fuelling this?

Trump's ego fuels everything he does.

I don't believe him.

he is intentionally playong dumb, he spoke on this issue in the past and has flip flopped on it in the past as well

Don't believe it for a second. He's just too much of a coward to stand behind his decision. That and he is still a con-man attempting to play both sides of an issue.

Did those White House aides happen to be Jared and Ivanka?

Dude literally asks people what Obama did and does the opposite.

It's already been reported that Trump is obsessed with Obama and uses anti-Obama stances as his primary concern for policy decisions: 'What did Obama support? Well we support the opposite.'

The latest report:
In interviews with BuzzFeed News, six top European government officials who’ve had firsthand dealings on the international stage with Trump and his administration describe a president regarded even by allies as erratic and limited, and whose perceived shortcomings are compounded by the ongoing chaos beneath him in the White House.

...

They also believe Trump’s foreign policy is chiefly driven by an obsession with unravelling Barack Obama’s policies. “It’s his only real position,” one European diplomat said. “He will ask: ‘Did Obama approve this?’ And if the answer is affirmative, he will say: ‘We don’t.’ He won’t even want to listen to the arguments or have a debate. He is obsessed with Obama.”

And if that isn't enough for you, here is, out of Trump's own mouth saying that all he needed to know was that Obama opposed Brexit to know that he supported it:

Stuff like this is why the term fake news took of. Unverifiable bullshit. Hes talked about daca well before he ran for president. Everytime his aids do this though we get this same headline that reads like fanfiction. It's time to stop framing Trump as incompetent as face the much scarier reality that he and the people hes surrounded by have a good idea of what they're doing and they're actually going about doing it.

Maybe. But he also talks/talked a lot about taxes and it turned out he actually knew shit about them. It wouldn't surprise me one bit. But it doesn't matter to me or Americans whether he is malicious or ignorant. In the end same result.

Trump's motivations include crushing anything Obama supported and fucking over Brown people.

He knew it would make brown and black people easier to control, exploit, and kill. That's good enough for him.

Sometimes when I try to understand a person's motives, I play a little game. I assume the worst. What's the worst reason they could possibly have for saying what they say and doing what they do? Then I ask myself, "How well does that reason explain what they say and what they do?"

There is a difference between knowing about something and knowing the details of that something. I don't think people believe he actually didn't know what DACA was, but that he didn't understand the implications of the decision to end it or the logistics of giving congress 6 months to magically come up with a replacement.

Much like the health care reform he promised, knowing about health care doesn't equate to knowing how it works.

The response from the business community makes me think he has probably just torpedoed tax reform with this manufactured crisis.

He just doesn't know it yet. There's plenty of Republicans from states where DACA will be a big thing. Republicans that don't want to be running for reelection as ICE starts forcibly deporting the most sympathetic of the illegal immigrants on local and national TV.

It will be an electoral disaster. And the Dean Hellers and Jeff Flakes of the world know this.

All Trump does is undoes things that other people have done and presents them as if they are accomplishments.

Ironically for a builder, his legacy as President currently consists almost completely of tearing things down and firing people.

"Wait what this is going to make me look terrible! Why'd you guys make me do this!?!?"
Pretty much.

Don't read into this article that he had no idea what DACA meant. Read into it that he didn't appreciate the backlash he would have received.

Unless it's something that directly impacts his businesses, he doesn't care about actual policy details.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Nobody should be fooled by stories of ignorance. Trump knew what it meant.

Seriously. Trump appeared quite cognizant of the issue in 2011, so this goes beyond ineptitude.

I think it's not about whether he understands the full effects of his decisions (I'm pretty sure that he does more often than not), but why he thinks he should care about the consequences.

He loves to play dumb, but the man simply acts to mask the fact that he does not care about other people that he thinks are lower than himself.

That's precisely why he's vile and wicked.

This is true, but he actually is really stupid and ignorant. Mark Cuban talks about how the guy never reads anything, never tries to inform himself. He's proudly ignorant, just like his supporters. Why read opposing views when they can just label them as "fake" and save themselves the trouble?

The rationale for almost every decision he's made thus far is limited to whether Obama did it, because if so, he wants to undo it. It's still crazy that this is our reality.

I'm pretty sure Trump just has shit "leaked" so that some people can use the info in those leaks to forgive Trump for his shitty behavior.
