No one talking about how Chase will no longer allow you to get both the CSP and CSR? Pretty big deal. I am glad I racked up so many points already and that chase is going this route instead of devaluing the UR. Just spent a week in Hawaii with over $4000 in flights in hotel all free thanks to CC signup bonuses.
Yeah, I was planning to get a CSP but meh. I'm thinking of burning a 5/24 slot on the Amex Hilton with the 100k sign up bonus. I can get a lot of mileage staying at Hilton properties for the next year or two at least.

Yep, I've already got that between the Prime card and Target card.

Though if Freedom offers Amazon I'll use that there. There's more flexibility with Ultimate Rewards.

Is this targeted like the damn gas cashback? :(

don't think so. Should be listed here: https://smile.amazon.com/b?node=16535626011&sa-no-redirect=1

important to note you can get many regular items from amazon fresh, not just groceries. I got some hue bulbs today, for example

Yeah, I'll take 5% UR over 5% cash back any day

so if I recall right there was a card that you get like $25 per quarter that you have it fully paid off.

is that one still around?

I need to get a larger credit pool.

my wife's credit is at 760 right now, which isn't bad, but the main factor is we only have one credit card witha 7,500 limit right now so we need to slowly build that up more to ideally have a better credit score when we go to buy a home in a few years.

also any recommendations for stuff?

I kind of want an american express card just for some of the promos the cards have from time to time.

I think my black mark against me is finally gone since they keep sending me personally an option for the amex every day credit card so I was thinking about maybe getting that one as the 2x points for groceries is better than the 1.5% cash back we get from the capital one card we have so would make a find secondary card.

so if I could get that one and the $25 a quarter one that would help I think?

also is there any good card for questionable sites?
like I want to get in on deals like the pcgamesupply ones that show up for video game credit, but since they took away paypal I am more iffy since I have heard of credit card fraud with the site before.

also when it asks for my annual income for my own personal stuff, am I expected to include my wife's income.

when I tried to sign up for an amazon card a while back it denied me quickly because my personal income is only around my monthly rent lol.

Yeah, you can include your wife's income if you file taxes jointly.

Chase is really stingy until you have some credit history with them.

You might want to try getting a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited. If you want AMEX, go with the one you mentioned.

I am not aware of that $25 back when it is fully paid off. I only know of cash back cards that have a minimum of $25 to get the cash back, like the Citi Double Cash IIRC.

Huge, YMMV, as with most credit topics.

I, personally, got approved for $21k on a CSP and $10k on a Freedom through cold-app. My only history with them was a charged-off student loan in 2011 lol

signed up for the american express card and was approved at 15k limit (also see shop runner is included free with that)

Is there any benefit for me getting a second card in my wife's name if she likely won't use it at all? aka will that credit limit be counted for her as well?

As an authorized user? The card will show up on her credit history too.

Also, be aware that AMEX has "once in a lifetime" language for promos. So that is why it is recommended you sign up for the card when the sign up bonuses are high.

Also, "lifetime" seems to be 7 years.

I kind of want to apply another credit card for me and my wife before I freeze the credit. Anyone else with me on this?

Depends on what you want to have it for.

Anybody with the Chase Reserve free Priority Pass, do I need to wait for my membership card to come in before I can access it? I think I just activated it today, can I just tell them my name at the lounge tomorrow and get in?

so when working on building a credit score.

I know one of the boxes on the capital one card I have telling me what is effecting my credit score is total credit.

I was wondering what amount of total credit should I be aiming for to reach top marks there.

I know 7.5k was just ok for that one (aka my lowest rated thing there)

if accidentally racked up a late fee on all three of my chase based credits in a single month, what are the chances that I can get them to reimburse if I've historically haven't done this?

someone from work told me that they were able to just ask American Express to remove the late fee and credit him back. But these are AMEX Business cards we use so I'm sure in that situation, it was more likely

As much as you can.

>.>

I mean I figured that would be the case, but is there any good number?

I am thinking about over the next 6-12 months getting a store card at both amazon and best buy since those are where I shop the most. but I really don't want to get cards to fast, nor have to manage a ton of them (but with auto pay ideally managing a ton of them shouldn't be a huge issue even if I will still manually pay them each month to be sure)

buying a house is likely still a few years out as I want to knock off some of the student loans I have still before hand. thus building up a good amount of savings for a down payment to reduce my future home loan won't be easy until after I get rid of most of the student loan thus I have some time.

I also don't drive a ton so I am not to worried about a car loan as if my car dies and I need a new one I will likely just target a fairly cheap one that I could pay off with my emergency funds that I keep. so it's mostly the house loan that I am working towards building great credit for since even a fraction of a percent difference on the loan can make a huge difference in the long run.

just trying to build up nicely. I mean I will never put anything on credit that I couldn't afford to instantly pay off, so I am not worried about eventually getting hit with interesting on something I can't afford, but I am still learning how to play this game even though I have been following this thread for months. I know I can't rush things.

You need the physical PP card. Chase doesn't allow the digital pass either.

Hey guys I'm looking to pick up a card just for additional credit lines for credit building purposes. Looking for suggestions on a card. My primary credit card is a BoA Cash Rewards card. I don't know if I travel enough to justify a flyer miles card. I shop at Amazon maybe once every couple of months but did a lot when I had Prime which has since expired. I rarely if ever carry a balance, paying cards off in full and on time. FICO is around 720, goal is to move it up as high as it can go for future home/condo purchases.

AmEx every day? Amazon? Chase Freedom? Something different?

Also, should I be carrying a balance? Does paying my cards off in full every month not look as good as carrying some debt? Thanks guys.

ok, no travel, but what about groceries? gas? just spending in general?

pay off in full. it looks better.

it looks even better if you bring down the total balance to below 10% of your total credit limit before the bills post.

General spending, but I don't mind a dedicated card for groceries or something. I expect to be using the BoA card most of the time but if there is a stronger option out there I'm all ears.

If I was you I would get a card with better benefits. Either Discover, Chase Freedom, or Chase Freedom Unlimited. They all offer the same core purchase benefits

I get ya completely. What is your score according to CapOne right now?

759 is the current score for my wife (my personal score isn't available through american express yet) ideally that will go up a bit when my wife gets fully added to my card and that 15k credit limit I have is added to her 7.5k

Call, ask. Yeah, if it is the first time, they usually are willing to waive the late fees.

If you were in one of the hurricane impacted areas, they will definitely wave it.

That sucks.

That is why you activate PP the day CSR shows up on your account

Chase has updated the design of the Freedom finally. No more disgusting looking embossed old school numbers on the front.

Did anyone else get one of these? I requested a new card and they sent me one with the new design.... but it still has the embossed numbers

about a few months ago I applied for the worst kind of card from a company named Credit One Bank

What I hate about this card is the awful website and the way it makes it super hard to pay your bills.

They have 2 ways to pay and express way that charges you $9.99 and a slow way that takes up to 5 business days to clear

for a few days now I've been trying to add a new bank account as my form of payment but clicking submit keeps giving me an error message so now I can't even add a way to pay this month's bill.

How much will it hurt me if I close this account and avoid this shitty company?

If there's no annual fee, you can just leave it open and not use it.

But if you've only had it for a short time, it wouldn't really hurt anything to close it. I'd probably wait until you have a second card though.

Do you have any other credit cards? You should have asked for help here first, man. Credit One is the absolute worst.

Hi All,

Im getting ready to make a fairly big purchase 5k-6k in a month or so and wanted to put it on a rewards credit card. I know a ton of have spend x amount in the first 3 months and get bonus this or that, whats my best bet?

- I have excellent credit score (800+)
-Will pay off the transaction in full on first statement
-I have a discover/my credit unions visa for most of my other purchases so this would like be a one time thing or only used for big purchases
-Dont really want annual fee card.

hallo guys. So i'm in a terrible situation. I came here as an immigrant when i was 21. graduated 3.5 years later but fell out of status due to government bureaucracies.

Anyway, first forward to 2016. Got my green card and ability to work (after being 6 years out of status). I'm currently married with a child however i'm unable to qualify for an apartment because i apparently have no credit score. What do i do? How long does it take it build a decent credit score from 0?

Please help.

Yes. I will look into secured card. Do you think i could build it to 600 in 6 months? Any suggestions for a newbie?

And thanks a bunch for the quick response :) gaf always comes through.

Yeah I have other cards.

Credit One was my error my eyes mistook it for Capital One, when I realized it I had already submitted the application

I can't even find a 1800 number for these people

I'm going to pay all of it and find a way to cancel they make contacting them really hard though

I'm sorry to laugh but that's a funny error lol.

Just cancel it ASAP. I can't believe it's that hard to pay off your card. Is there no 1800 on the back of the card? If it's a new card, and you have other cards, it most likely won't hurt much.

Google says 1 (877) 825-3242

Due to a mix up while changing my bank, I managed to miss a monthly payment on my card, the direct debit bounced. Was entirely my fault. The sum that went unpaid was a massive €6.35, but it prompted a letter from the bank. The amount was cleared before I even knew the letter had come. Is this going on a record somewhere that I fail to make payments? I know it's probably stupid but I'm going to be applying for a mortgage in the coming months...

I would probably jsut keep it open, having it open with no balance doesnt bother me. And I generally take 1 big trip a year

Honestly, I don't even travel that much but I still find the Chase Sapphire Reserve to be worth it. Here's my cliff notes

- 50,000 point sign up bonus ($500 value)
- $450 annual fee
- $300 travel credit
- 1.5x reward redemption means spending just $300 on travel a year (with rewards points through Chase) will net you $150 extra right there
- Great benefits
- Free Global Entry

the list goes on. I have made Chase my primary card company because of this card. Get all my rewards stacked up and then use it on travel and watch the money flow in.
