No more Arkham games coming says Kevin Conroy

Nice to see some Origins love here, personally Origins might be my favorite Arkham game.Knight was by far the worst,I had to force myself to finish that stinker...

And I agree with Smith being a good Batman voice.

Smith handled the voice of a younger Batman quite well, same goes with Troy Baker and the Joker.

I don't think I have a problem with ending the series (it is highly unlikely though) except that I wished for a better and more fitting ending than Arkham Knight.

But no matter what, Rocksteady made one of the best game series I ever played

Bear in mind that A) Conroy is desperate for attention most of the time, and is notorious for making public announcements about things he has tenuous links to at best. B) He didn't do Origins.

On one hand, I'm pretty sure Rocksteady wants to move on and the original trilogy (Arkham Origins doesnt count) had a pretty definitive end

On the other hand, WB is a big publisher, and Batman is maybe the most valuable IP the company as a whole owns. So it's hard to believe that the property would lie untapped for long. I mean really, there's no reason to include the Arkham name in there at this point for any reason other than branding, right? Batman: Arkham is just a sub-brand of Batman, and all it takes is a good game without Arkham in the name for that shit to be de-emphasized

i guess what im saying is they'll make another batman game eventually but it might not involve rocksteady and it might not be called arkham: something

I hope they don't make a direct sequel. Though I would love a new trilogy set in a populated Gotham and we get to play as Bruce Wayne a lot. Think Spider-man PS4 game but with Batman.

Knight was, in many ways, like Asylum for me. Marvelous moment-to-moment gameplay, great set pieces and not so great bosses. Really surprised, if this information is reliable, that WB is not doing any more of those.

But I think he's just denying it because he did sort of leak Knight was happening when Origins was coming around. So I guess his default answer is 'no' now...

I love batman universe, but Knight was not so brilliant as the previous... so I just hope them to work on another interesting IP.

That's fine. I'm always hoping for more big-budget batman games, but the arkham formula has had it's time. Same goes for Kevin Conroy in the voice role - it's iconic, but it's not definitive.

After Knight there's nowhere else you can really go. Wrapped everything in a bow, while Origins pretty much cemented any need for a prequel. The games don't really have enough material for a spin-off or anything that focuses on characters. Plus, that Arkham prefix really lost any need after City.

Plenty of places they could play around with the formula - replace the open world with something a little smaller and more linear, or expand on the detective gameplay for a more puzzle focused game. Combat can be changed, so can how you use the gadgets.

I am genuinely curious what Rocksteady are cooking up though.

It's a Justice League game like Destiny in structure.

Was Origins on PC ever 'fixed'? That's the only one I haven't played and I recall there being some bugs? I'm kinda in the mood for another Arkham game.

The ending of that game made clear they didn't have idea what to do next, that's what it was as nebulous as possible.

The franchise became a mess by Knight.

Sad day. This was one incredible series, even Arkham Knight. Sure, it had a few problems, but still a great game.

This series was literally the first batman game not to suck, at least for me.

Do we have any idea what rocksteady is doing?

Bummer for me personally. One of my most favorite series. I replay one of them every year, and loved every game. I've been holding out, hoping for a reveal on the rumored/leaked games, but now I'm wondering if that isn't ever going to come.

Rocksteady are great, I want to see them do something else. I like the Arkham games but I'd rather they leave it before it becomes stale.

Seems like Knight bombed. Just look at how quickly it's dropped in price everywhere and how quickly it fell out of discussion. This is probably for the best.

It's a shame because I thought Knight was the best of the series, but four games of the same formula is one too many.

Man, this news saddens me. I got in late with the Arkham games, starting with Knight, and going back and replaying all the others after 2 playthroughs of Knight. Also loved Arkham VR on the Vive.

Would've loved more of this.

Having played all in very close proximity in time, I agree. Knight was the best game, most QoL improvments. Felt strange playing Asylum after Knight.

Yep. Give me another game with Roger Craig Smith as Batman.

Roger Craig Smith was great as Batman in Origins, took me a while to even notice it was a new voice. But I'll take a hard pass on Troy Baker as the Joker. Irked me as hell, as it wasn't Troy doing Joker, it was Troy, trying to do Mark Hamill doing the Joker. Him and Gordon were the worst parts (VA considerd) about the game, imo.

i am actually okay with this...
the arkham trilogy is awesome and it ended pretty damn good (plot wise)
and it's good to see rocksteady moving to another IP (please don't be VR related)

Nah they just hired the Origins VA instead, because he's actually better.

Is what I am hoping. It's a damn shame if there's never a follow up to Origins. Secretly best Arkham game that people only shat on because they went in expecting a toilet.

I would probably rank Knight higher than Asylum, but they're pretty close. With hindsight I think City is the best in terms of pacing, moments, and that intangible feeling of being Batman, although Knight has the best mechanical elements.

Letting Rocksteady make a new IP while the studio that made Origins makes another Arkham game using the framework from Knight seems like a total no-brainer for me. Would be crazy if WB decides against that.

I'm ok with this, if true. I feel like the Arkham formula has been pushed beyond it's limits.

I'd love for the next Batman game to be a take on GCC.

Full campaign of Batman: Arkham VR with RCS as Batman? why not!:)

Also, man people really disliked the Batmobile sections, I thought they were a nice way to break gameplay every now and then.

I'm saddened but also relieved. I'm anticipating RS's next game, whatever it may be. It'll be good to try something new. Knight was an excellent end to an excellent trilogy.

Man, so sad to know Batman video games are over :(

I wanted more Batman Arkham Knight style games, really really loved the game even though Gaf seems to despise it.

Hopefully Rocksteady are not working on an awful DC property like Suicide Squad-that would put me to sleep and be a great waste of talent there.

I feel like the rough start to knight pc and the remasters of asylum and city being rather basic and filled with design issues was enough to scare WB away from wanting more arkham for a bit.

What started great slowly went downhill.

That's really sad to hear. This is one of my favorite series of all time and I thought Knight was great. Guess I'll buy the collection and go back through Asylum and City the next time I want my Arkham fix.

I'm actually quite okay with this. Knight was a beautifully okay game that ended the series in a decent manner. I'd rather Rocksteady work on something else.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any follow-up DLC for the VR Arkham game, unless they were waiting for the receipts to know whether to invest in more content.

I still think Origins get shit on way to much. Sure it has it's problems, but I enjoyed it.
Would love to have a remaster of it.

Knight was incredible so I'm in for whatever Rocksteady does next. Easily the best gameplay in the series, especially the predator rooms.

About 23 000 sold on Steam according to steamspy, might not be enough for them to pursue it really. VR user base is quite small still, and I think specially for a game with the level of polish Arkham VR had, the time spent developing vs the return isn't as good as these larger publishers really want.
