The good thing about this is people can stop going "guys X person retweeted the announcement is y game happening!?!?!?!?"
You can take them console games on the go.
What more reason so you need?
Hasn't it largely been a good indicator up until now though? I know it has with the Xenoblade stuff iirc.
Guys, I'm broke this winter.
Doom, Xenoblade 2, Mario, Dragonball, Battle Chasers, Sine Mora, Superbeat Xonic, Fire Emblem Warriors, Skyrim, Rocket League + tons of indies.
Best first year for a console ever for me.
Cool, densely packed Direct. Just falls into the category of a lot of Directs where a vast majority of the content, while good, is stuff I won't buy either because it doesn't interest me or I'm getting the titles on other platforms. Really looking forward to a Direct that knocks my socks off, for my taste, showcasing a wave of content that's exclusive and exciting.
Wolf and DOOM are good scores for Nintendo/portable fans. Wolf in particular is great, even if it's vaguely late, as it's a proper modern title and not a port of something older. Bethesda's support is commendable, and I suspect we haven't seen stuff like Dishonored 2 is because of engine optimization quirks. id TECH for DOOM scales very, very well.
I do wish Nintendo would offer Switch alternatives for the 3DS. I get it, I get it; market penetration makes supporting the 3DS desirable. And these are games likely made by smaller teams on limited production budgets. But given the immense breadth of performance difference between the two platforms I can't imagine porting from 3DS to Switch, even as VC, would be tooooooo difficult for most titles. Given the Switch is absolutely iterative of a portable successor it'd just be nice to see these games in some way supported.
Nevertheless, good stuff. I still feel the Direct for me is yet to come, and there's a lot of first year quirks Nintendo hasn't elaborated on yet (like an OS and store update). I also feel some expected ports, like Smash or stuff from Platinum, are overdue for announcement and would have made good first year fillers. Alas, not much anybody can do about that.
Mario is the next big game and that's about it for me. Was hoping for a bit more to grab my attention over the rest of the year, but there's big games on other platforms that should keep me busy. Hoping for a bigger 2018
No, it wasn't. Why the fuck is that unexpected? Did I miss Reggie say "Animal Crossing Switch news this year!"?
8 stories that converge to one overarching story. 8 ways the reach the end of the path, so to speak. It can only be one path. It's singular.
It must be a path with 8 tentacles/arms.
Metroid was like that until they released a Metroid game. Animal Crossing skipped Wii I so people want a new one.Looking at Twitter and I've come to the realisation that Smash and Animal Crossing are the 'Poochies' of Nintendo. Whenever they're not on screen hundreds of twitter users will ask "where's Animal Crossing?" or "where's Smash?"
Not even Okami!Thank you Capcom, people bought your overpriced game and you delivered, unprecedented support indeed.

I wasn't really excepting Smash but if it's a port it'd be a smaller thing. I assume people are expecting Animal Crossing because the mobile game is coming out soon. Plus the direct was so long!I just find it weird for AC and Smash because they're massive tentpole franchises; expecting their new installments to be revealed in a regular Nintendo Direct just feels weird to me. If this were E3 2018 I could sympathise but this is a September 2017 Direct, it's nowhere near the same calibre.
I've already made peace with this fact, I say as I keep checking the status of my Samus Returns pre-order.It's not safe to sell your 3DS/2DS ever. lol I think we have like 2 or 3 more years of it left.
I didn't say exclusively Switch lol. Just any kind of Animal Crossing news in general.
For instance, Animal Crossing mobile was already confirmed and the last news about it had it pegged as a late 2017 release. Unless there was another delay announcement that I missed.
So personally I expected there'd be something about it in this direct about upcoming 2017/early 2018 releases.
Yeah where the fuck is the Japanese support. A little worrying.
