Jumanji - Official Trailer #2

Should be fun enough. My only complaint would be that Kevin Hart seems to play Kevin Hart and not the high school kid that got transferred into the game.

They pointed out the '3 lives' thing so what do you bet there's a moment when someone loses them all and somebody else brings them back by sacrificing their own.

Wow, I hated that. Jumanji was smart, timeless, and, while outlandish, very human. This doesn't even look like its part of the same series. Why even use that name? I mean, I know why they used that name. Just not happy about it.

It's going to be that they lose all three in a big sacrificial way and then just have to push Start to have three lives again.

This looks terrible. The world their in is supposed to be terrifying, not whimsical and full of fun adventures.

Damn, this is insulting to the original. Rather they not use the Jumanji name at all.

Meh, looks like dumb fun movie.
Not something I would ever go see in a theatre.

And why the hell did they use the Jumanji name for this...

Exactly. Good way to destroy what the first movie created.

The Rock makes some really dumb looking and awful movies.

This one looks dumb, but at least it looks somewhat fun even if I totally expect it to be more hot garbage.

Eh, looks like it could be okay. The Rock actually looks like he's having a good time, and seeing him with wildlife animals could be a neat concept, that and him punching Hart is hilarious.

This looks fun on its own but it clearly doesn't match what we were told about the world in the original.

They've also already showed us two of the "deaths" so far.

Yeah, the cake joke got me.

Yup. Loved that.

This totally feels like Jumanji had time for humans to conquer it and up their tech. The hunter from the first movie had to come from somewhere, and he might have been the one to get the new Jumanji to what it is now. After all, he went to Earth and saw all the new tech before getting dragged back.

I always thought the original Jumanji was one of those shitty 90s movies the internet liked ironically like Space Jam or Con Air, but the reactions to the rebootquel are starting to make me think otherwise.

The hunter is Jumanji creating a manifestation of Alan's fear of his father. He's literally played by the same actor.

People lost their shit when they heard The Craft and fucking Overboard were being remade.

I think it's just a knee jerk reaction to any remake.

Pretty funny to watch Jumanji movie purists shit on this new movie having lived through Jumanji book purists losing their shit over the first adaptation.

Time is a flat circle and all that.

To be fair that was a scared little boys perspective versus 4 teenagers in adult bodies. From what we've seen in the trailer it lines up with the world from the Jumanji animated show.

There's also the SPE making anything effect in full swing here

I mean, the first Jumanji was ok, mostly thanks to Williams, but we're talking about a very average 1990's comedy that got 1.5/5 from Ebert and overall between 2 and 3/5 from critics, and sits around 6 and 7/10 for users.

Hardly a universal all time classic, though obviously ymmv here as well as how old you were when you saw the 1995 film.

Keeping expectations in check for the 2017 version, but I have found both trailers to be tons of fun.

Woah! Didn't notice that, thanks. Will definitely pay more attention next time. That's a really clever move for the movie, using Alan's fear as a character.

However, I will maintain the theory, until the new movie destroys it, haha. Even if the hunter is Alan's fear, created by Jumanji, I still saw the hunter as an autonomous being, who had the desire to kill Alan.

Hope they end up mentioning something about the first movie, or some kind of cameo, just for the sake of it.

Looks like dumb fun.

Edit: people being super defensive of the first jumanji and any changes made to it will never not be funny. Like, why do you have to take this so seriously?

The dorky guy becomes a musclebound superhero.

The frumpy girl becomes a lithe supermodel/adventurer.

The prissy girl becomes a middle-aged man.

The black guy becomes........another black guy.

I'd say it's more like
The football jock becomes a small guy who has to support the hero.

They're all meant to be in opposite roles of their normal selfs

TIL that middle aged Robin Williams is a scared little boy.

Robin Williams got sucked into the game when he was 12. The world of Jumanji is just the Amazon rainforest on steroids not some Lovecraftian hellscape that our minds couldn't comprehend. If a little boy was abandoned in a normal jungle for 20 years I'm sure he'd have PTSD and say similar things about jungle spiders and monkeys.

This wispy British dude had fun hunting trips in Jumanji so I have no doubt that the Rock and co can have an adventure.

This. It's actually pretty neat IMO, although there's probably a half dozen movies that I've never seen with that same character concept.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

He was ~44 when he said that quote after living in that world for his entire life. If anything he should be numbed and less afraid of it after living and adapting there for decades.

No one is demanding a "Lovecraftian hellscape that our minds couldn't comprehend", but a generic looking tropical paradise that looks well suited for a nice weekend getaway for middle-aged rich people is NOT what this world should look like.

Looks entertaining enough and the cast is decent. I liked the original but don't hold it in high regard like some do, so I have no issues with a modern sequel / reboot.

I remember noticing that the hunter looked and sounded like Alan's father as a kid, but didnt pick up on it being a manifestation of Alan's fear of his father. Good catch.

I'd hope we got some random cameos as well. Maybe a grown up Peter or Judy at some point?

Jonathan Hyde is still alive so they could get him to play an even older Van Pelt or something.
