Trump takes shots at Kaepernick, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field’

I guess the quotes provided didn't paint the whole story. Thanks for the clarification.

I should have stated that you should read the entire thread. Regardless, I don't think he'll be kneeling, nor should he, but this is a guy that "gets it". Which is something that not even his QB can grasp.

Was this posted? Eric Reid speaks about what he and Colin originally meant by kneeling and why he did it.

Really good article, which I'm sure many against kneeling will not read or choose to ignore.

Good article; thanks for posting it!

I mean when has kneeling ever been a sign of disrespect? People just became idiots overnight with this shit.

Exactly. It was made very clear last year that the kneeling was in protest of police brutality; in fact they made it crystal clear what it was about. Trump and his idiot supporters are trying to make it about him, and also to twist it into being a form of disrespect for the military, which it also is not. People have EXTREMELY short memories when it comes to stuff like this.

Lmao how are the pepes on r/t_d gonna react now? There were like a dozen AMERICAN HERO!! posts about Villanueva last night

They'll twist themselves into a pretzel to misconstrue what he said or make it seem he was forced to apologize, as you can see with some of those comments.

Pathetic bunch.

Fuck Trump. White Supremacist murderers don't mean anything to this prick, yet peaceful protests for racial equality are worth outright condemnation.

He called the NFL players who kneel are "sons of Bitches" while he calling the white nationalists in Charlottesville "fine people".

He needs to go. :(

Sure, but that arm-linking shit sets things back. It's a completely empty gesture that does zero to help.

I mean I don't think it was completely empty as any anti-Trump message sent is a good thing. It does dilute the message against police brutality though which was the entire point of the original protest.

Statement from Alejandro Villanueva, the conservative's hero:

Edit: Would advise reading the whole series of tweets in the link.

He seems to genuinely realized that he messed this up so I have to respect that he addressed this so quickly. I read an article this morning that said his jersey sales have been leading the NFL since yesterday so he's literally taking money out of his own pockets by coming forward like this. He could have easily kept his mouth shut and continued raking in that alt-right money and I'm sure none of his teammates would have taken him to task considering his military service.

I wouldn't say that. It seemed like it was in support of those who chose to kneel and were getting slammed for it by the POTUS.

That's far better than nothing.

What message does it send when you're linking arms with an owner that donated to Trump and still blackballs Kaepernick?

I'm sorry, is everyone who locks arms locking arms with that owner? If not, who are you to decide what is the proper way to protest? Are you against players standing and raising a fist, too?

NFL Jersey sales are aggregated then distributed, he makes nothing extra specifically because it's his jersey other than more are being bought in general, if that is the case

It's crazy how with all the wrongs that have been plagued in the NFL, namely actual legitimate physical problems like domestic abuse, a symbolic gesture that isnt even what the conservatives are claiming it to be for, is the one where people go, NOPE NO MOAR NFL.

Oh, I always thought the players got a percentage of their own jersey sales. Never mind that part then.

Are they raising their fist while their other arm is linked with a racist that's intentionally keeping their fellow athlete out of a job?

The very fact that Ray Lewis and the owners are even involved in the linked arm "protest" makes the entire thing an empty gesture. Ray Lewis demonized Kaepernick and is at least partially responsible for keeping Kaepernick out of a job. The owners are fully responsible for keeping Kaepernick out of the league. Now they stand with their players in unity? Bullshit. It'd be like the CEO of Chick Fil A wearing a rainbow ribbon.

.@CNN is #FakeNews. Just reported COS (John Kelly) was opposed to my stance on NFL players disrespecting FLAG, ANTHEM, COUNTRY. Total lie!

Meanwhile Collins just took a stance against Graham Cassidy and still nothing on Puerto Rico. I hate this man so much.

Ugh, the "just stick to sports" comments infuriate me. Completely de-humanising. It translates to "Just jump, run and play fetch for me. I don't want to hear your opinions or ideas and actions though. I might have to think of you as another human being."

Screw Trump. Players have the right to stand or sit or kneel or not come out at all for the anthem. I hate this "stick to sports" BS; players are humans and they deserve the ability to be able to speak out about what they care about without their jobs being on the lines (assuming they aren't inciting violence, etc etc).

All Trump voters feel this way. A plurality of "liberals" feel this way too.

Once again you're conflating all of the locked arm protests with those involving owners and players you don't like. For those owners or players who don't actually stand in unison with their kneeling teammates and are doing it to blend in, then yes, it's an empty gesture. But for many of those locked-arm players it is not. Who are you or any of us to say otherwise?

And really, the whole "kneeling is disrespectful" rings so laughably hollow to me.

Would standing for the anthem, but with your back facing the flag, be any better? Of course not.

You know what else is disrespectful? Yelling and booing at players that are kneeling during the anthem. Pissing during the anthem because you know you have time to do it before kickoff. These conservative fuckwits are the biggest hypocrites ever.

Orange fuck is really making a hashtag out of this situation? Fuck him. I can't stand this shit.

Well, he's trying to make one out of it. The pro-kneeling (TakeaKnee) hashtag trended worldwide nearly all day yesterday, so he's obviously trying to get the anti one working.

They're not hypocrites because their beliefs begin and end with maintaining unearned white male supremacy.

Everything they do accurately reflects that. Patriotism and even religion are a facade.
