Is the app ever going to record stats like it used to for D1?

Feels like a tattered mess that doesn't do anything helpful. I want to be able to look up pve or pvp runs I've done, or see what the PVP medals are and which ones I've earned.

I'm hoping so. I know you can use destinytracker, but I liked the app.

However, I disagree with this line. Most of the loot in Destiny 2 is either safe and inoffensive or just downright useless. It is nice to know that what you get is what you get, and it obviously makes it easier to balance individual weapons when you don't have to worry about a hundred different combinations of perks. But after 20 Widow's Bite drops, it's clear that the weapon will never be worth my time. Now my vault is full of infusion fodder or "weapons that might be good at some point."

Right, that's why I specified a piece of good gear. When the raid sword drops you're happy because you know it's great. When Zevala rewards you with a Nameless Midnight you're happy because you know it's great.

Yes, that means there will be less items for you to chase and you'll end up finding them all faster than you did in the first game. That's what content updates, events, and expansions are for. Now when you exhaust the game's content and move on to playing casually or not at all, you don't feel like shit about it. You "leave happy," as Luke Smith might say. That's absolutely better than leaving in disgust like most of did multiple times throughout the lifespan of D1.

Meh. I'm not leaving happy. I've played for 3 weeks and I feel like I wasted my time, referring back to the candy crush analogy from my long post. Again, my vault is full, my light is high enough to do anything worth doing, and I've played the classes enough to see all they have to offer. If I hadn't already invested in the DLC, I would not feel like I got $60 worth of value out of the game.

Was it fun? Eh.... I guess. The Story was enjoyable the 4 times I played it and patrol grind was entertaining for a week. Truthfully, if the game made it easier to play the story without deleting a character, I would get more replay value out of that aspect - of my own volition. Beyond that, Destiny 2 is more of the same, but less of what kept me there the first time (for better or worse). And I think I represent a step above the casual player, so I can only imagine what the casual player who doesn't keep up with all the strategies and the metagame feels as they wander the EDZ waiting for the game to tell them how to get better light.

I could just be expecting a stallion out of a mule, but I don't think it's unreasonable to state that the game is an ultimately shallow experience at the moment, and not because it lacks content. There's plenty of things to do - just no reason to do it, and not much variation therein. Once you loot a lost sector, it's the same lost sector. So maybe you can decide one day while you're grinding for tokens that you'll do that instead of a public event? I don't know, I think Destiny can be a more interesting game than that.

You're describing the burnout you'd feel with any loot game. I remember feeling the same way when I had a full set of T2 armor in vanilla WoW.

When you race through all the content in the first couple of weeks you're left with nothing to do. There's really no way around that.

To be honest though, having read your posts in Destiny threads for the past year or so... I don't think you were ever going to like the game anyway.

Is there a known bug where the faction people won't show up? I go to the hangar and the icon disappears.

I personally don't get burnt out on games unless they discourage me from playing them.

I did not like the beta, but I always go into a game with an open mind and I gave myself time to feel it out. Ultimately, I like where they improved (Story, Patrol, UI) and I dislike where they regressed (everywhere else). I feel like that is a simple position to take on the game.

It has a strong initial impression right up until you finish the story and do a few side stuff to hit 265 light. If I was a casual player, I would definitely stop playing about then and probably leave on a higher note, but that's never been where the bulk of Destiny's experience lies. You hop on a treadmill to raise your light and tackle the more difficult challenges with your friends, and that's why the first game was fun in spite of all its flaws. In chipping away at those rough edges, something central to the experience was lost - at least to me.

tbh i agree with most of the things Twilight Gap said

does anyone know if the vendor engram trick still works? the one where you leave it for like a hour before opening it up?

still works. EDZ was at 297 for me, went back 30 mins was at 299

Once it rolls over to a new number, can you then buy multiple engrams at that level? Say it rolled to 300 for me, can I then just drain my tokens to get multiple 300 engrams or is it just a one time thing?

I need a 300/305 Titan Mark in the worst way.

you should be able to buy multiples until it cycles again. Although I haven't tested that part myself since I just hit 305 today. I'm on my 3rd cycle now waiting for it to hit 300

I want a year four HB. Make it happen. All of the snipers in this game feel heavy. Pun intended.

What? The trials sniper feels like a year 1 sniper with quickdraw+snapshot+last guardian standing perk always on. The handling on that thing is insane. Also the blue sniper that streamers on twitter were praising is just as good.

As my first experience with Destiny, I'm loving the hell out of D2. But I do wish the gear worked a little differently. Every time I hear about a cool quest line or something with a gear reward I feel like I should hold off until 265 because it scales with my PL.

I'm probably making too big a deal out of it, but it's a nagging thought whenever I come across rewards from something.

Yeah the game was the exact opposite of vanilla D1 and littered us with loot with nothing to really stay for.

It's a better game to play and quit within a week but way, way worse long term.

Of course the DLCs can change that.

DLC can change it, but it's a mystery that it's not better than it is now.... Especially since I got the sense they knew what made the game great in TTK. The developers kept saying how black spindle was such an amazing mission that was challenging, rewarding and mysterious... And yet seems like all of what makes that fun is missing in this game at launch..... Why? I'm not even sure what they were keeping such a tight lid on this game not showing lost sectors ECT..... Nothing to really show now that I've seen it.

Beautiful game and moments and great shooting, but shallow as fuck.

Is faction rally a one-week thing? Should I be grinding tokens to get all the gear or is this just an everpresent thing now?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I wish the game forced me to play more or made me feel like I had to keep playing to stay relevant, because that is what I didn't like about Destiny after Year 2. I never hit the level cap because I didn't feel like doing the hard raid every week just for the extra light level. I've already mentioned that I appreciate the freedom of choice in that regard.

But I feel like they put all of their eggs in the story basket and then left the rest of the game "open to expansion" - which is fine for Destiny, but not fine for my wallet as I wonder how much I'll have to pay for the game to be good. For Destiny 1, it took about $200 and 3 years. Hopefully, Destiny 2's true asset over the first game will be its content iteration, which remains to be seen.

Sweet Jesus, True Prophecy is a fun handcannon. Got it on my first FWC package.

Aztec criticized it for the delay explosive payload but I honestly praise it,. If you pace your shots it sort of feels like the delayed payload explosions are a shot of their own. It's extra disruptive. On auto rifle users it's pretty effective.

I've only used it for PvE so far, but I really like it a lot. Just has a good feel to it.

Beat the Prestige nightfall on the first try. Got to the final boss with exactly one min left and we damaged him so hard and stunned him with titan grenades and warfcliffs that he never teleported to his two sides and we wiped him with 7 seconds left.

Not sure if we stunned him so hard or the game glitched or on prestige he doesn't teleport, but I'll take it.

How do you tell what rank you are with a faction? Everyone's saying you only get item rewards up to rank 25 from the faction challenge turnins but I have no clue where to see how close I am. Do they just remember how many rank ups they had?

Anyway, this event is pretty nice for quickly getting to full 265-270 gear on newer characters, took my hunter from 242 power to 271 in about 40 minutes of farming lost sector turnin tokens. Pretty boring, but very efficient, so I'm gonna try to do as much as possible today since that's the exact kind of grind Bungie quickly patches out hah. Too bad my Titan isn't 20 yet.

I wouldn't know. But everything else doesn't compare to the HB which is still the goat. I like the shephard watch though.

Raid glitched on us.
During Calus last stand, he wasn't taking damage. It just kept saying immune.

Weird raid glitches tonight
We had one member whose model never loaded in again after the first time he died. After that every time we wiped he would have to go back to orbit or everyone else would stay dead and not respawn. This seemed to grow to a second member which then resulted in a black screen if the first member left and went to orbit. This was fixed by the second member restarting the game, but he never loaded back in. Strange.

Question about the final raid encounter
(inside.)

Is it normal for psions to start their bounce attack as they spawn? I thought it was a little extreme that psions could launch their attack before they even had the chance to die, but if it's something I should be prepared for then I will be.

You should spoiler your post.

Answer:
Yes it's normal. That's why the ground psions are absolutely 100% the priority target every time. Then you can target the floating ones.

He does teleport on prestige as well which is precisely why we failed lol

Sucks we don't have a Titan on our team, but I'll definitely try the wardcliff

Done and thank you.
I normally target them first, but it's like they spawn mid-animation and behind cover sometimes. Will save grenades for those occasions.

*Also thanks to Empty Space.
I've only done that once so my first time it seemed weird. I can easily hold my own with a two person outside setup.
