so how is destinylfg treating people? tomorrow will be my most free day to try and beat calus for a while and i figure that lfg is my fallback if there's no gaf groups forming up in a timely manner.

Use discord for the best chance at finding groups I think. It’s working ok for us on Xbox but I assume there are a lot more PS4 players considering the thread seems to be mostly ps4.

Frankly a "Clan Battle" Crucible option would make a lot of sense. Have the clan teams matched up against each other, and incentivize it with unique loot.
You could even have Hawthorne, as the Clan Steward, be the announcer.

Lets clans still group together and reduces the amount steamrolling through Quickplay.

Cleared the raid with people from it.

If you haven’t finished the raid yet, do r/destinysherpa. I have always had great experiences there.

I want to form a Trials group on PS4 to start right now to play for an hour or so. If we lose, we lose but the aim is for us to improve and get better.

Anyone want to join?

GAF is better

There's too many variables now, first few weeks there were good people
Now it's trolls or people who want 5 others to carry them

thanks for the advice all. i'll definitely try and get in a gaf group first.

Can agree. First (and only, didn't like the raid) KF was a Hawkian raid. Same with my first WoTM (also think I helped out on a subsequent newbie raid with Hawkian). Which reminds me, Hawkian and Hedera_ showed up in that "story of you thing", right in the feels. Let me know if newbie raids start up and I will try and help with the sherpa.

I do my 3x raids with it every week. The key is to be 300+ and experienced, and only join up with other groups who are the same. I wouldn't use LFG for first time clears. No way of knowing what kind of group you'll get.

For first clears I'd try to go in with a GAF group. LFG only works once you're joining experienced groups. My 3-run average clear time was 1:41 this week.

I was on Xbone for D1 and used LFG almost exclusively. Can't really speak to the D2 crew, but I usually found good groups. I'm on PS4 now, so I've been using this thread and discord more.

I haven't done the D2 raid yet, though.

It is funny to me seeing everyone complain about how everything is token based. There is functionally no downside to token systems, you just earn a reward after putting in X effort. The same as random drops were in old crucible or Iron Banner, but now you know you can work towards them. Token systems are in every way LESS RNG than the old ways to get actual upgrade gear (not counting vendor gear that quickly became lower than what you were using). Thing is, token systems are inherently less fun, no moment of excitement when you see you got a drop in that last IB game or other activity. People always say they want less RNG, but quickly realize that less RNG makes loot less exciting, and a healthy balance is better overall.

I'm finally getting the swing of Destiny 2 PvP and I've been at probably 50% win rate solo queueing against clans of 4. But my fucking god, are the games not WAY LESS FUN when a team of randoms is against a full 4 clan, win or lose. What's even more weird is when I queue with my brother we almost never get paired against a team of 4, but when I'm solo 1 in 3 matches is. I kind of wish Quickplay had a max team size of 2 to queue, or that they added another mode where that was a limit. Having to play a super sweaty match against 4 people all MIDAing a lane and teamshooting 1 in 3 matches solo queueing is just not that fun.

Me and 2 other Gaf clan peeps need 1 more for Trials if you're down to join.

Xbox lfg is all I've been using for raid, nightfall, trials, etc. And I've had pretty good experiences overall

Prestige Mode guesses:

Gauntlet: random counselor spawns at the end of each round need to punch it.

Dogs: random spotter enemy spawns that needs to be killed by the zapper players.

Baths: no change just 300 PL

Calus: shoots fire on floor the whole time. Need to punch two counselors and more adds

So, I'm not totally positive how many spots I have for this tonight, but I'm at least looking for two people who are new to the raid that would be available to give it a shot. I should hopefully have one other knowledgeable person helping out.

I'm not calling this an actual newbie raid because (well, besides that I'm not posting it days in advance for the signups like a normal one) I need to actually practice before taking a full group of newbies. I'll ask even more patience/laid-backness than usual for this run because this is my first chance to actually try leading and explaining each encounter on the fly. I don't have the experience with what works or doesn't yet, which is what I want to bring to the actual weekly runs.

This is for Level 275+, other than that no foreknowledge of the raid or any encounters is required.

But if being this kind of guinea pig appeals to you and you're available 3 hours from now, please quote this post!

Stacks will accrue slower in doggos as well, is my guess. You'll need more to get to x24 or x48 or w/e

Baths can be the same, drains faster.

Gauntlet, my guess is all 6 need to make it at the end, past that no idea.

I have no real guess for Calus. Could just be "harder".

I wonder if the website matters (.com vs .net.)
I've used LFG.NET multiple times and always had a great experience. Plenty of really chill skilled players still using that site. Maybe I have just been lucky.

Prestige Raid

Easy

Load Lockout
Orbit, need to open door to encounter, no underbelly access till at least completion of encounter

Maybe a small degrading in the x## multiplier I'm guessing

Rather than have x50 for Baths, might start @x40, ten seconds less can really put a hurt on the shuffling

Same for Dogs, x## number stays but degrades over time, maybe -x1 per 30 sec, waste too much time might lose almost half a stack of the buff

Calus, random three thrown into shadow realm, know your roles!

Gauntlet, my guess is all 6 need to make it at the end, past that no idea.

2 Centurions, each door

Get ready your dodging skills!

Just playing mode in crucible where it’s first to four rounds and limited lives whatever it’s called. Three nil up one left on either team, spectating the last dude. Game time runs out, goes to minutes overtime, gets booted into orbit for being inactive. Inactivity is kinda a trait of being dead!

The problem is Bungie doesn't want to discourage being in a fireteam, at the expense of everyone else who just wants to pop on and have fun by themselves. I'm sure there is a whiteboard or .pdf somewhere at Bungie HQ that identifies fireteams as inherently more important because players who play with their friends are "stickier."

Anyway, Crucible is fundamentally borked because
- Fireteams of 3 or 4 are more likely to win (inherent advantage of cooperation in a heavily team-based mode)
- Players matched against fireteams of 3 or 4 are more likely to leave
- With an emphasis on smaller teams and teamshooting, losing one player (or even multiple!) is potentially disastrous
- This further exacerbates the problem with fireteams being more likely to win

I think they need to solve it by:
- heavily penalizing quitting, in all modes (cut out xp, like overwatch)
- matching solo players in casual against other solo player or fireteams of 2

I've cleared calus 3 times with an LFG group, just avoid the ones that seem like its full of kids or assholes "if you fuck up you get kicked" type of posts. There are a lot of decent people on there, just have to be patient and find a group that suits your temperment.

I've also heard http://the100.io is good but it seems more a schedule-in-advance kinda site, whereas I prefer just to do something when I have a few hours free and not at a set time.

Yeah the100.io is legit

You can schedule it up whenever your free or be a late join

Also tags show what people as a group: like adults, no profanity, family/dad, etc.

Also a nice Karma system and no show thing to keep everyone in check

Is there an updated discord link somewhere? The instant invite link you see from quoting the bottom of the dgaf/discord thread is "expired"

Ooh Prestige change guess are fun.

Prestige Mode guesses:

Gauntlet: Requires every member to run at least once, maybe require all (or at least more) members to finish the final run.

Dogs: having stacks take more flowers to fill up.

Baths: more crystals needed to be destroyed

Calus: more ads in both areas, maybe a change up in Calus behavior during burn phase and/or final phase.

Frankly the raid could simply have no respawns and be tough enough. No respawn Calus seems like a nightmare :/

I'm ready to give Nightfall a shot.
Two caveats for me though: I have no mic, I may idle suddenly. Nothing I can do about that. I will come back to do a full run though.

I just wanted more content to D1 Y3 to be honest.

I don't know if I'd go that far, but I miss a lot of stuff from D1. A lot.

I miss D1's cooldowns on abilities in PVE.
I miss good exotics. (Weapons and armor)
I miss good rolls on legendaries.
I miss using a special weapon and a heavy weapon.

I miss D1 Y1 specifically. There have been many positive QoL changes over time since then but that's when the guns performed the best and were the most fun to use. I've never had more fun with a gun in a multiplayer game than I did with the OG Last Word. They really had something special back then.

As for all the casual/hardcore talk, I would say it's definitely catered more toward the casual fan right now. It's not a bad thing in every regard, but like someone mentioned before it's not black or white. They can add things in for the hardcore player to be happy. They need to be careful not to alienate the people that kept the game alive for the past 3 years. I'm sure the community feedback will drastically change this game over time just like it did for D1.

For the time being, just put whatever mods you can afford on all of your stuff that doesn't currently have one, to raise your level a bit. Optimizing with ideal mods and double stacking stuff to take advantage of certain builds is more of a long term goal you don't have to worry about at all yet.
