Jesus, and vendors with randomised stock that you buy entirely with in-game currency and zero microtransactions isn't Lootboxes.
This is OP's fricking point.

Does Horizon have loot boxes or just in game treasure chests?Because i am kinda annoyed that people are complaining about Assassin's Creed Origins chest with random loot that you can buy with in-game currency i just wanted to point out that there is game that is already out for 7 months that has exactly the same thing like Assassin's Creed Origins (merchant who will sell you box with random things in it) and nobody said a thing about it.
Assassin's Creed Origins
Horizon Zero Dawn

A 1-off paid expansion isn't GAAS... Jesus, and vendors with randomised stock that you buy entirely with in-game currency and zero microtransactions isn't Lootboxes.
This whole thread is so bone-headed I feel I'm getting dumber by reading it.
You pay for sex? Lol!
I don't understand these questions. Are you paying for casual sex?
First: The stuff in Horizon can be looted or bought from enemies and vendors without using a loot box (aka treasure chest) once.
Second: There is no micro-transaction whatsoever in Horizon. Everything except maybe some DLC costumes needs to be unlocked in game.
Third: AssCreed and more so Ubisoft have a bad record with MTs in their games. So it´s normal that people are skeptical and take a closer look on their product.
Except nobody is arguing that they know what AC is like. The only arguments put forth is that it is likely to be that, given past behaviour.
I don't understand these questions.
Do you live in a alternative reality where prostitution doesn't exist?
Again, the other thread is where that argument lies.Except nobody is arguing that they know what AC is like. The only arguments put forth is that it is likely to be that, given past behaviour.
Expecting it due to prior behavior; will be pleasantly surprised if that is not the case.Come on, now. Look at that other thread and tell me that many of those posters are not acting like they already know.
Uh... Isn't it a bit early to make this thread, not that the hate for ACO is also premature but no-one would be shocked if Ubisoft joined the lootbox craze because it's Ubisoft.
As you said OP it's been 7 months and Horizon hasn't implemented in-game currency so ACO going the same route would be very welcome.
Lol, what is the in game currency?
Pretty much everyone pays for sex, the drink you bought for the other person, the dinner you took them to, the gift you got them... all sex microtransactions!
Come on, now. Look at that other thread and tell me that many of those posters are not acting like they already know.
You always have lots of faith in these companies.
It's Ubisoft.
Joined? Are we pretending Unity and Syndicate didn't allow you to buy currency with real money? They definitely did. When I wanted to craft something in Syndicate I was taken to a store to buy currency because I was missing a item.
But that's literally sex without commitmentMost people don't think of prostitution when talking about casual sex.
Main game currency has never been buyable in AC. And every single AC game with MTs never had its balance affected by it. I don't have any reason to worry.
Come on, now. Look at that other thread and tell me that many of those posters are not acting like they already know.
Or you just don't know the definition.So... It's a meaningless term?
That is probably because Yves stated in May AC will have monetisation, and all games will be services going forward. Their player recurring investment forecast includes the new AC game, that means not one time purchases.
I really don't understand how you can fault anyone for making such an assumption about a flagship Ubisoft game.
Consider the case of the wonderful Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which sells as a full game for $60, but also comes with the option to buy a $30 season pass to further the story and which includes items that can only be used for one playthrough. And if that's not enough, the game itself has microtransactions (which weren't fully patched in when Emanuel and I reviewed it) that let you buy in-game credits for as much as $10. And this when credits are almost as abundant as rain in Ireland.
Ubisoft itself is embracing that model. Its Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege sells for $50, but it also comes with a $30 season pass that grants limited exclusive access to some elements and comes with bonuses and weapon skins. The core game also includes microtransactions for weapon skins.
And unlike the free-to-play model, this model allows Ubisoft to have the best of both worlds. It gets the $60 base price tag and that known influx of cash lets them make a quality game, as well as some microtransactions thrown in for an extra, optional boost in revenue. Even better (from its point of view), the latter elements allow it to bring in cash even when after the base price eventually goes down.
It's not the prettiest solution, and perhaps it'll be replaced with something more agreeable in the future. But for now, it seems like a far safer alternative to free-to-play.
Because it is a Sony game, they are not gonna critique the MT on Horizon.
What thread is this? Horizon doesn't have loot boxes....
Is this thread real or a parody?
Or you just don't know the definition.
It's okay to be wrong.
I played Horizon, why do I not remember random loot boxes?
Again, the other thread is where that argument lies.
This is OP's fricking point.

If you keep reading that thread, he agrees the definition is too broad.

There are many people instantly assuming the worst and vowing never to buy the game (whether or not they were ever interested in the game in the first place is debatable but hey).
False. Plenty of people have played AC:Origins at this point, it's the most demoed AC game since 4 with hours upon hours of unedited. footage up on youtube.OP no one played AC origin yet and your explanation of HZD "mechanic" is out of a god damn wiki...
It's basically a thread dedicated to the confusion of lootbox mechanics since there's currently STILL a thread about ACrigins having "lootboxes" when it's basically just the mystery box merchant that's common in RPGs. Going by this logic, Path of Exile also has loot boxes, as well as Diablo.I mean what the fuck is this for similiarities?
No it genuinely is the point.Bullshit it is.
Was not at all affected by MTs, you could get 70K of the in-game currency in literally 3-5 minutes. The most expensive items in-game were barely over 100K let alone how easy it was to buy lower level gear that cost 4-5K. On top of that you had your theatre constantly giving you money over-time like in the older games and missions giving you lots of money and free gear. Say that Unity was affected by MTs is straight up revisionist history.Unity.
But that is still the definition. And that's all I said is technically Horizon is.
