PAL Charts - Week 40, 2017

Sales are 22% down on Forza Motorsport 6 and 60% down on Forza Horizon 3.

The highest week one sales was for Forza Motorport 4 with 106,000 units sold.

60% drop? Seems that the horizon brand is more important to forzanow. Similar to how the black ops brand become important to call of duty.

Europe sure loves Uncharted.
TLL has done good since release. I hope it's turned a tidy profit over for ND.

So after Project Cars 2 underwhelming debut, it looks like Forza Motorsport 7 launch is also behind Forza Motorsport 6 ? Of course in the meantime Forza Horizon 3 is selling Xbox One on itself but that's a different beast. The market for racing simulation does not look great at all, better have this in mind before GT Sport launch.

Forza Horizon 3 is aggressively bundled with Xbox Ones in UK especially lately.
But overall I'd say it's been a damn good system seller having remained in the UK charts over a year.

I think it's been great for getting casuals in during 2017 beyond 3rd party titles.

Bad results, sadly.

Do you think GTSport will do better, guys? (regarding UK)

Quite certain yea. I believe GT6 launched around 50K and everything about that launch was butchered.

Yeah, I've seen some very tempting deals last week/weekend for Forza Horizon 3 bundles with XB1S and lots of extras.

I wouldn't be so sure, what with the whole online focus only, happy to be proved wrong, but I can't see it.

This is gonna be exciting.

I have zero doubt about that. Not only Forza 7 launch is far behind Horizon 3 but Forza 7 won't have a fraction of the legs we saw with Horizon 3 (even before it was bundled).

Better than Project Cars and Forza yes of course, but the whole racing simulation genre is cratering so I wouldn't expect any impressive numbers from GT Sport.

Yeah, if it does 6 figures, then it's probably the best it could hope for. Below that and it may as well be a dead genre walking.

Forza's are beasts.

30k for FM7 isn't a beast number.

We'll never know until a company out and out says it, but I wonder how much of an impact the "early access on expensive bundle" digital copies are doing. Obviously it wouldn't be enough to recover that, so I'm not saying "BUT DIGITAL!", but it would be interesting to see if it puts it much above the 30% we usually hear.

No TV spots for FM7 hitting home now with that performance, I'm sure they sold a good amount digitally and some will be waiting on the X like me, but even still.

Either FH3 is selling really well, or Destiny 2 completely tanked.

I think its safe to say destiny has under performed, FH3 is also pretty much the only bundle in town for the Xbox in the UK, its good for the franchise, but it just shows that without Fifa or any other big marketing deals, any other AAA exclusive games this year they have nothing else to bundle to help sell their consoles. Which is probably one of the reasons why its not been selling.

Only Amazon sold out really, you could walk into Game or Argos and get it there easy. Amazon are re-stocking tomorrow.

Thanks was expecting better sales this week after no one was able to get a copy last week. Guess they all went digital.

Nintendo customers, digital?

The main thing keeping me away from getting a Switch is the overpriced eShop. €70 for a game compared to €55-60 on retail is fucking terrible, and Nintendo games never go on a sale. I don't want to carry around carts with a portable system.

Bringing up Digital to explain a decrease from a previous game in the franchise is fine, bringing up digital to explain why a game is just plain bombing is annoying and intentionally dishonest.

I think there's a difference. A 22% drop is different than a 50% drop. Your not gonna sell 60% digital for a game between different iterations. But 22% more than a release 2 years ago isn't out of the realm

I think I posted somewhere the week one UK sales data for all Gran Turismo entries but I can't find it now.

Gran Turismo - 44,000
Gran Turismo 2 - 115,000
Gran Turismo 3 - 74,000
Gran Turismo 4 - 253,000
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - 108,000
Gran Turismo 5 - 269,000
Gran Turismo 6 - 55,000

considering racing games aren't as popular as they used to be, i guess doing more than 200k would be a great success, however being realistic over 100K could be considered good imo, and below that.... not good.

I doubt Gran Turismo Sport will do a whole lot better to be honest. I would guess about 50k-60k; the racing game genre just isn't what it once was.

Destiny 2 completely tanked comparitvely. Digital is at almost 30 % which we had confirmed by a write at gameindustry.biz.

I guess Destiny 2 sold a lot less because of Destiny and back then people needed a reason to buy a PS4 so the Destiny bundle came in handy.

EDit:

Bruno, do you have FW sales for all Forza games?

I'm not going to underestimate Destiny 2. The first game had great legs despite terrible word of mouth, this game actually is getting good word of mouth.

That game is kind of unique situation, Destiny 2 doesnt have to be a great game on its own merits, it just has to be an improvement on Destiny 1, thats almost exclusively the way the game is talked about by both gamers and press.

That's how the DLC was for the original game, "its so much better than base game!" ....Yeah but is it good? "ITS SO MUCH BETTER THAN IT WAS".

Doesn't help that they release one every year, either Horizon or a Motorsport. Fatigue will set in eventually. Would love Turn 10 to try something different at some point, like PGR maybe.

Bandicoot just keeps on truckin'.

I'm honestly a lil surprised there hasn't been any DLC levels for it (minus Stormy Ascend which they gave away for free for a month or so anyway).

Maybe do one Motorsport per gen and make Horizon series annually.

Mario & Luigi should be way higher :( But it is the UK after all. If it's not football or killing, it won't sell.

Let's forget people are waiting on the X to drop for Forza

I dont think there are a significant amount of people who dont own an Xbox One, who want to play Forza 7 and are waiting for the X to come out.

If they do own an Xbox One and they want to play Forza 7 it doesnt make sense to wait, its the same disc.

My Xbox friends here in UK say similar. I tried the Forza 7 demo and enjoyed it but I didn't feel the need to buy another game in the series. Playground does Horizon, they are very talented like Turn 10, I just feel devs like that could bring something new at some point but I'm only speaking for myself here as I'm not a fan of annual releases.
