Girls' Last Tour 1
At least I know this is going to end poorly from the start. Especially with how the episode ended. I think my only complaint is the moeblob faces.

ID-0 6-12 END
There were a ton of reveals in the second half to explain what was actually happening, but there was zero time to process each one as the story said "this train ain't stopping for nothing" and just barreled ahead. I think most of it checks out alright, though there are a few glaring plot holes and the question about
that old dude on Earth(?) and that random girl who had her head attached to a body (like wtf?) also being Orillians?

All things considered, it was a pretty decent show that could have used like 3 more episodes to pad everything out.

Neo Yokio 2 - 6 END
First time watching anime with my family and it ended up being this. Had a blast in a weird way.

I don't know if I should feel weird or bad or what...but I really want a second season.

I did not expect some word puzzle game after that fake what the fuck scenario at the start. Good thing the editor cut him off and rejected all of whatever that proposal was.

A Sister's All You Need, Episode 1 - I'm not sure how deep down the rabbit hole I want to go with this because it's hard to tell just how self-aware the series actually is. I know one thing though, I'm really sick of the Little Sister Complex trope that's been infesting anime in recent years.

I watched the disgusting part, then the part about his being an author and nope'd out. I don't really care if it's self aware of the trope and wants to lampoon it, it's still a show revolving around siscon and I'm perfectly fine with staying as far away from it as humanly possible.

There’s a trend in LNs of wanting to be self-aware about how awful LN tropes are but revel in those tropes at that same time. I can’t stand that pretense at cleverness.

Yeah the more I think about it, i’m probably going to tap out. Maybe I’ll check it out if I here it was all a bait and switch and there isn’t more siscon crap.

*checks out Isekai Shokudou*

*Sees the funimation app kick back to main menu*

*wonders if episode 12 was really just watched*

well that is just impressive... the last episode of the series has so little tie in with anything else that I didn't even realize I was watching the last episode of the series lol. It felt like an episode 1 lulz.

though i also wish that the funimation app would have started me on episode one when I randomly clicked it on their simuldub stuff.

oh well.. I didn't mind episode 12, so lets see how episode 1 is lol.

It was kinda weird. My sister heard about it and asked me about it. One thing led to another and we just sat down and watched it all in one sitting (I saw the first episode a few days ago though).

I honestly don't know how they could do a second season. I'd rather not have Sharknado in anime form.

Gotta say watching this off and on first and then shotgunning it with twitch chat is amazing. Everybody screaming lalalala or ame ame or yelling out LORE whenever it gets vaguely educational is hilarious

This exists for a reason!

To be clear: the OVAs tell a self-contained prequel story that occurs before the events of the manga adapted in the TV series proper. (On Crunchyroll the OVAs are listed under the subtitle "Those Awaiting A Star".) But they have a framing device which occurs somewhere in the middle of the manga material.

I would recommend skipping the OVAs and instead starting with the TV series.

I have watched the first 2 OVAs and I really hope the third one improves everything dramatically, because for now i haven't liked them (apart from the lush visuals of course).

So a Natsume Yujin-cho film has been announced for next year.

On one hand this makes me a happy boy being a superfan. On the other, I guess it might be a sign of not getting any further series.

Is there a sequence of events for Garo? Or can I just watch the latest without any worries?

Each season of Garo anime are totally independent stories and settings. Different staff, different writers, different characters, different time periods/locations, not even in the same continuity.

The detail to take note of is that the anime movie Garo is a sequel to the first season.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 - 8.0

This episode was pretty emotionally manipulative and I think the way this is going might sour my overall experience with the show.

Yuuki is dead! No he's Not, yes he is! No he's not... It felt incredibly tiring and cheap. I also feel the Yuuki who's at the end of the episode is in Mirai's imagination and the real Yuuki died in her supposed second dream within a dream. The fact that Mari is only responding to Mirai and looking at her with a depressed looks hints that to be the case. Really wasn't expecting the show to go down this route and it'll be a cheap way to guy punch someone at the end if that's the case, fingers crossed it's not the case and I'm just over thinking things.

Kekkai Sensen S2 - 1

Alright, if this show continues at the pace it's going it's already my AOTS. Great animation, OST, and a wacky backdrop. Please don't have a strong start and slowly get crappier like Virgin Soul did.

This statement breaks my heart for being so true.

I felt the opposite, Virgin Soul started out meddling for me and then just ramped up without putting a foot wrong after Favaro was introduced and Azazel went from a key to minor role. The ending was a bit rushed but otherwise it was a steep improvement for the 2nd half.

Well, my wife and I are keeping it to review six episodes in, so I guess I can let you know what it ultimately becomes. Though, based on what I read when trying to gain a better understanding of the series, it's at least partially focused on confronting the MC's bizarre siscon obsession.

Virgin Soul was probably the best anime last season and an improvement on the original. It didn't just repeat the same thing, but decided to be its own thing and excelling at it.

It's time...

For me to watch some (trash) anime again, since I've finished AOTY just these days (Rick and Morty S3).

I'll try Oregairu S1 and 2, SAO S2, DBS, Tales of Gods and Demons, Space Dandy, Ping Pong Animation, From the Abyss...

Any other recommendations? It doesn't matter if it's from this season or past ones, I'll accept any kind of shit.

14 episodes in and I'm exceedingly tired of this jerk-ass king and the fact that the female lead won't let go of him despite being a murderer. I can't force myself to keep watching, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The Ancient Magus Bride and Kekkai Sensen.

Also Barakamon.

For a terrible fandom? Not likely.

I tend to ignore the fandom, as anyone with a brain should. I can't stand either the "nihilism and existencial questions" type of fans and the "insert catchphrase here and a random dance" type of fans.

The Magus Bride is one interesting one, I've read the manga and it was pretty amazing.

Thanks for the recommendations.

I don't blame you. The former is miserable and the latter might be some cunt on a McDonald's counter over some sauce

This is the anime thread on a gaming forum, I don't think anyone has a leg to stand on when it comes to fanbases

Rick and Morty doesn't warrant such a large defensive fanbase and a backlash but whatever. I wish theyd make an episode where Rick wants single payer healthcare or womens reproductive rights to see if dumb nerds can be mobilized to do something that isn't immensely stupid

Truth hurts.

Pretty sure that those anime OT threads on GAF are better than pretty much all other threads in the two community boards.

And still, most viewers probably don't (regularly) participate in any online discussions and are likely as annoyed by the rapid, annoying parts of the fanbase as everyone else. Probably even more.
