just wait for Artifact and magic arena. Legit competition is finally coming, they will be forced to lower prices or lose their business when no new player would be touching this game when they can start the real thing in magic or play dota card game. Just look how they run hots compared with this game. It's inevitable that their current model will collapse sooner than later.

It's probably been posted and discussed by now. I liked this PC gamer article.

http://www.pcgamer.com/has-hearthstone-become-too-expensive-to-keep-up-with/

The best part:

it has been really tiresome for me.

yesterday was the first day I really felt bad about playing, because I've been playing everyday making myself a kind of daily gold quota so I can afford next expansion, it has made me really tired of playing and yesterday I was fed up with the game for the first time.

fortunately for me, I switched decks and I got enjoyment again today, but I'm really concerned about the course of the game, I don't want to abandon the game, but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on this game in just some months. I love it, but I usually spend a specific amount on a game and this game is already stretching it with the expansion model.

and people talk about magic and artifact as the true competitors with HS, there is one reason why I love HS: the presentation, I like cards games, but Team 5 managed to make this more than a card game, I just love every little detail they put with each card and with each expansion release, I'm not sure at all that the competitors want to make that extra push. Gwent for me is a notable example of a nice game with a terrible presentation.

I have no idea what Artifact is and there's no telling how much Magic Arena will cost. Given the pricing of MTGO and Duels there's no indication that Magic Arena will necessarily be any cheaper than Hearthstone. Especially since decks in Magic are much larger and you can slap 4 of the same Mythic Rare in a deck. Can you imagine a Hearthstone deck with four of the same legendary in it?

Artifact is a Valve card game. So an actual possible competitor.

Not a guarantee for success. Pokemon TCG online isn't exactly competing with Hearthstone atm. Brand only gets you so far.

It isn't the brand that gives artifact the great chance of success. It's the platform. Magic doesn't have that. Bethesda doesn't have that. Nintendo doesn't have that. Valve has that.

Not even just F2P i mean i bought 50 packs for KFT and then i had 7k gold and im not even close to having all the legendaries and even epics i want, giving every class 2 legendaries really skyrocketed the cost of the expansions.

LOL @ MtG being the "real thing". There are already plenty of options if you want to play that game. I personally don't think MtG is a very fun game - I would rather play Hearthstone.

We'll see how Artifact turns out. I think it's early to hype up something we know nothing about.

MtG (and yugioh for that matter) doesn't make for a very good online game.
Since you basically have to ask for permission from the other player after you do anything, since they might want to react to your action, the gameplay flows terribly.

Have you tried Eternal? I think it flows very well.

That magic games will more expensive than HS

Imagine paying full price for deck that you can buy second hand plus the RNG from pack

We're at that point again where we're saying MTG's new digital game is competition again already? :p

I'll check out arena, but I doubt it'll keep me. And I'm not much on the casual side of hearthstone.

What do we even know about artifact other than it being dota? I haven't paid any attention.

After a long ass time, I had to buy 60 packs just to keep up with the competitve decks of the game, at this point, I don't feel like I could keep on playing with it

Eh, I think that hearthstone has a long way to go before going full hots, considering that HS already has a big lead on the genre, unlike HOTS who has to play catch behind to both lol and dota 2.

Also, about Artifact and Magic, it all depends on when both games are going are going to be released on mobile, and their economic.

I'm sure that Artifact will find a way to include the steam market into it, but also I don't feel like people are that excited for it.

And magic will not be very cheap to get into, unless WotC finds a way to mix their physical game into it, otherwise, I doubt that they will canibalize their main source income that easily

Duel Masters would be fucking perfect for an online TCG. The only reactionary events are Shield Triggers and blockers, at least from the English released sets. Love that game. Magic without the baggage and mana issues.

I don't think it's even trying? Pokemon TCGO's business model is to draw people to the physical game.

Speaking of getting sick of the grind of Hearthstone, has anyone ever heard of someone selling their account? I have damn near every card and a ton of dust, I’ve always wondered what it would sell for.

Everything's tied to your main Blizzard account which means you'd be selling all your other Blizzard games and accounts....

Also Blizzard bans for selling accounts.

I beat an Anduin Priest with Fatigue Warrior! I feel amaaaazing!

Edit: It occurs to me that Anduin and Rexxar should have swapped DKs.

I still hate how spreading plague is too strong. Even UI should have probably been hit tbh.
Play around it! :p

It won't even be used outside of OTK decks in Standard in a few months. Right?

I'm tired of facing jade druid after jade druid.
Man this is just crazy to hear. I've only seen one Jade Druid in Wild this month aside from myself. I've seen people who have >40% play rates against Priest, though!

Jade Druid does alright against Priest. It seems like they stopped teching in Skulking Geist from the lull.

My last 10 games were 2 hunters, 3 rogues, 5 jade druids.

And I only won once against the druid.

I love playing against jade druid as razakus priest, its hard matchup but its a fun challenge imo

mirror or highroll keleseth deck is where the pain at

I'd take keleseth deck over jade druid with 2 mark of the lotus any time.

Yeah, ladder has been a real grind lately. Have had a hard time going on long streaks like I usually do. So much highrolling with Kelseth, Raza, Jade ramp, etc. The game practically plays itself these days.

I think Razakus priest is pretty high skill. Sure, it's a free win for almost anyone when you get a crazy good curve, but when you don't draw that curve it's very skill heavy and still allows you to win.

I agree. I beat most of the Wild ones, and as we're playing I just can't fathom the decisions they make half the time. I actually had someone play DK Anduin without anything for it to destroy, and he hadn't played Raza yet. I am playing Jade Druid, so he basically just threw away his second best board clear in his deck for nothing.

Jade druid is tricky because it does put you on a tight clock to start whittling down hero HP, so I think that's usually right if he's not playing Giest. Not like you're going to win the value game, and UI discourages relying on minions for your tempo, so what else are you going to do?

But maybe that's just my standard experience talking. With the wild priest tools you might be able to stall even jades until you draw your whole deck.

In anycase, problems like this are what make razakus so fun to play. It feels like the new Oil Rogue in its trade offs between tempo and value.

So I ran into a Priest this morning. He played Kazakus on 3 and Raza on 5 so I was very much of the opinion that it was the usual Anduin deck. Boy was I wrong lol.

Turn 6 he plays Hemet reducing his deck down to just 7 cards and my eyes nearly pop out of my head.

He then plays Archbishop and proceeds to absolutely batter my Jade Druid after a particularly nasty 3 punch combo of Skulking Geist into Kazakus potion which turned all my minions into 1-1's and DK Anduin when I finally got back on board with Bonemare.

I gave him a Well Played, first time I've done that in ages lol.

Man, I thought I was real smart playing double Golakka Crawler and keeping them in my hand against Rogue, but he sure showed me by playing a deck with no Pirates in it.

That was fucking weird.

I think I actually might be able to get that thing.

@Familienoberhauptvogel Does our LGS do Fireside Gatherings for HS? Or do you have to go to that esports bar, wherever it is.

On the topic of Firesides, has anyone ever seen someone come up on the "Other players nearby" on the friends list? I play on my phone in the UK and literally never seen a single person on this. Does it actually work?

wasn't that in beta still? I've never seen that notification pop up...

not even when my coworker played HS

I've seen it work. It's gotta be on the same network I think.

That only works if they are on the same WiFi network as you. When I worked a video game retailer I saw it a lot since a lot of the employees played Hearthstone. It was a coworker who got me into the game, actually. I actually got the Fireside cardback legitimately!

Ohh okay that makes sense. It would be kinda cool if it worked on GPS or something rather than WiFi. I work in the city centre, and I've always thought that there would be others playing on their lunch breaks or whatever but no way of playing each other.

In Jade Druid vs. Priest, the Priest has to deal with Jades up to 5/5 with basic removal and Dragonfire Potion. At 6/6 and beyond, he has only three tools: DK, SWD, and Lightbomb. Getting to 10/10 is the norm. He NEEDS to save the DK for a Jade wipe unless the OTK combo is in his hand. Otherwise he can't deal with the Power Jades. Jade Druid gets three explosive turns when played right against Priest:
Falstagg + Idol + Nourish when your deck is low into hopefully another Idol or two.

Brann + Jade.

Double Jade or Aya.

Those are the big three moments the Priest has to handle successfully. The third one is your win condition if the Priest had normal draws. Blowing Anduin without the combo means you might not survive the second burst, and you are helpless against the third.
