Don't know man. I think Mercury came at the worst possible time now, thanks to all those delays. I hope the LISK Team will keep from rebranding until a better and more stable time. Also, it seems that monacoin is available on bitflyer, the biggest japanese exchange, since yesterday. If this also has much impact, i hope that the LISK Team made some nice deals with exchanges in the east. Rebranding + new exchanges after dust settled would be a killer

I've been waiting for a lifetime for BAT to do something. It's in my "set it and forget it" pile. I'll check back in in a few months on BAT.

That is the feeling that I have is that Mercury has come out at the worst time possible, so best to just hold on for long term in hopes that it does reach potential.

LTC is also rising nicely. I'd love for it to get near the previous ATH of just under $100.

I am the biggest moron ever. I honestly haven't logged onto my exchange for a while. Over 2 weeks. I was holding OMG...or so I thought. I log in to see apparently I had a sell order fill at $10.28 on september 25th. So i jave been sitting in cash without even realizing it all while alts are tanking. Fuck me. God damn noob.

I know I am still doing good since OMG is at $8.40 at the time of this post but it had been as low as $7 in the past few days.

Now I am not sure what to do with m FIAT. Buy or wait.

5000 $ Bitcoin news is hitting mainstream outlets again. Probably means new fiat for the market.

Is this going to be the first time that newbies entering crypto due to ATH news stories actually get to buy low because all the alts are depressed at the same time that BTC soars? That is so ridiculously unfair.

The rest of us that got lured in by ATHs got wrecked on the correction; these guys just stroll in on discount day. FML

Hey guys looking to get into investing with Cryptocurrency but only have about $500-600 to start out with. Starting out, is that a good number or would I need more? Also I’ve heard having 6-8 currencies is a good way to diversify ones portfolio. Any recommendations as far as how many currencies I should buy in the top 100 with managing that diversity? Such as: buying two currencies in the 1- 30 range, two in the 31-60 range and two in the 61-90 range?

That's a good amount to start with, and a lot of the coins are down right now so it's a good time to enter the market. I'd recommend ARK, NEO and OMG, maybe with some Ethereum as well. There are other good ones out there but those are my personal favorites at the moment. No reason to diversify across more than 5 currencies when you're just getting started.

I wouldn't diversify much with that amount. Find two coins with good growth potential, Gaf likes ARK, and invest 250 - 300 into each one so you actually make some decent gains when the coins go up in value. Transaction fees will eat up smaller gains real fast if you only by one eth and try sell out when it goes up a $100 bucks for instance.

Good amount to start, but yeah pick 3 coins max with that amount. And get the money into the coins of your choice right now! Everything except bitcoin is trading below its actual value. It's a literal market dip, and if you can buy at these prices you will be buying at the bottom and get free money when the market prices return to normal (may take a month and a half, but still).

Makes sense as I’ll keep my selections between 3-4 currencies. Was looking at ETH and ETC. Why is ETC cheaper as they are both Ethereum?

I’ll take a look at ARK again, but they seem TOO ambitious to me. Not sure if they can follow through on there roadmap as it seems they have too many plates spinning. Am I off here?

I think being patient is going to be really important for me in order to maximize my gains. Starting out, it’s going to be hard to know when to sell and when to hold.

It's not quite accurate to say that they're both Ethereum. ETH and ETC are the result of Ethereum forking at some point in the past; ETH then became the "main" Ethereum project. I don't know much about ETC personally or where its current value comes from, but typically when a currency forks, one of the forks will "win" and carry significantly more value than the other.

Bitcoin has forks like this occasionally as well; we just had one in July which produced BCC (Bitcoin Cash) and there's another one happening in the very near future which is presumably driving the current spike in BTC's value.

I believe the upcoming Gold fork is coming up on the 20th? And then the 2x fork will take place a short while after in November.

Turbulent times but there's opportunity there to increase stakes in alt coins if you play your cards right.

Only invest in projects you believe in. ARK has big plans, but it also has a solid team. As I mention above, I believe in them so I felt comfortable putting my money there.

Personally, if I was investing $500, I would look at cheaper coins like IOTA, NAV, LINK, maybe BAT (damn you BAT, go up dammit). There's a lot of promising coins $1 or less. These are definitely more risky coins compared to something more established like ARK, OMG, etc. But, of course, bigger risk can mean bigger reward.

I gotcha. I agree that ARK’s potential is there I just have to decide whether or not I’m gonna make the jump. Also speaking of promising coins $1 or less, XRP looks pretty solid and practical as well.

I think it's going to be better to sell before the fork. Bitcoin gold likely isn't going to be worth anywhere near as much as BCH and the correction is almost certainly going to be bigger than what you would get for it. When you take into account that alts should simultaneously recover, seems like an easy decision. The only issue is whether the market is going to wait until the second fork to sell.

WTC lowest its been in 10 days. Not saying to buy in as not convinced it isn't a scam coin but there you go. If it went back to under $2 I would buy back lol
