Horseshoe bus seats introduced to encourage passengers to talk to each other

Obviously made by someone that doesn't ride the bus.

i'm looking for the profit motive and i guess you could potentially fit like...maybe 1 or 2 extra people on there than the usual backbench, but in practice it won't happen cos nobody's gonna sit in the 45 degree angle of space between two stranger's asses.

so it could be that, in which case it's really penny pinching. or it could be yeah a complete misunderstanding of how people use public transport by some cloudhead asshole who thinks everyone should always be happy and curious about the people around them.

No.

And I don't want it to be easier for large groups to sit together either because you just know they're going to get loud.

Last night on the bus a man sitting near the front suddenly turned towards the other passengers and, looking intently into thin air, started speaking about how Mary should do a little dance for everyone. Even as nobody responded he persisted, loudly insisting that Mary was a beautiful girl and wouldn't everybody enjoy it if she danced for a minute.

I did not want to have a conversation with that man.

The only people receptive to conversation on public transport are either old, crazy or a combination of both.

Everybody else just wants to mind his own business.

Good I hope this encourages more people make new friends. I can see it now a thread is made about how a stranger said hello to them and that it made them uncomfortable.

What an amazing way to turn 2 seats into 3 seats!

Reading this while on the train. Although not the bus, anyone who takes public transportation understands you don't ever wanna talk to people. Just wanna get the fuck off.

Ugh. No. I ride the bus to get from Point A to Point B, I have zero interest in interacting with anyone else doing the same. Those also look like a dream for those that manspread or take up seats with their bag/purse.

Will definitely make for some better dick flashing/masturbating vids on xhamster, I mean the women being assaulted don't even need to turn their heads now.

I've never seen anyone put up their legs to stop someone sitting on the seat next to them on public buses. You'd get thrown off the bus if you did, and someone needed to sit there. People do tend to take empty seats by preference but they'll sit next to people once those are occupied.

Also I don't think this is any more likely get people to talk than having someone sit next to them, so I rate it as <5% per trip and that the period of the conversation will probably be < 5 minutes.

Just let people be antisocial if they want. Also if i rode the bus this would make me want to put a bag next to me even more or manspread out as much as possible so nobody sits anywhere near me.

I'm sorry to say that based on personal experience, if a stranger initiates conversation with you on a city bus or subway train, they are mentally ill.

Shit like this is always designed by people who never use the service.
But Alex has a Design degree and HE said he went on a DEEP DIVE to find new SYNGERGISTIC ways to MOVE THE NEEDLE by thinking OUTSIDE THE BOX , IDEATING and DRILLING DOWN to reach the LOW HANGING FRUIT to deliver a new LIFESTYLE supporting way for MILLENNIALS to TOUCH BASE face to face without having to REACH OUT digitally, and that having these dumb ass seats would AMPLIFY the VALUE ADDED direct ONE to ONE talking time that many MILLENNIALS have listed in FOCUS GROUPS as being DESIRABLE

Yeah, that ain't working. Groups of teenagers will like them, but everyone else will still be on their phones, ignoring each other.

Also, lol, we aren't social folks in the UK, so this is probably the worst place to test something like this.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
Just think about how much room you can take up man spreading at the apex of that U shaped seat! You could cover like 5 people's worth of seating, maybe 7.

So they took the back of a bus, which is horseshoe shaped and typically has seats in the shape of 3/4 of a square and made it...rounder.

How innovative. THIS WILL CHANGE THE WORLD.

I'm 6'4". I have enough issues sitting on buses already, how the hell am I ever going to sit in one of those horseshoe seats without cramping my own legs?

I get the bus every day for work and it's a miserable experience. Most of the people that get on buses every day are miserable at best and intolerable at best.

Getting real sick of this "people are too glued to their smart phone" excuse.

20 years ago, people were ignoring fellow commuters on their laptops, 30 years ago they were on their Walkman, 40 years ago they were reading dime store paperbacks and newspapers. Where was the social outrage and shit solution to a problem that didn't ducking exist then?

Alex probably don't have to get up an extra hour earlier so they can walk the 6 blocks to make the bus in time. And do the reverse to get home

Doesn't work on the train so won't work here. All it does is encourages people to stare at me and try their luck every so often.

youll have to seat in the middle of the seat and let them pile their legs on you, bro
