Where Do You REALLY Go After Mario Odyssey?

Because when I entered that thread, I wanted to confess how my life feels incomplete now that I'm pretty much done with Odyssey. Think about it.. we might not see another Mario game for a long time, possibly even a really, really long time, let alone another 3D Mario game like Odyssey.

Although with that being said, I could see a Mario Odyssey 2 releasing in a couple of years, or at least DLC with new kingdoms.

Odyssey 2? I hope not. But if they surprise me with enough new ideas to do more of the same, bring it on. I just like how complete Odyssey feels, there's nothing missing. Not a kingdom too much, not a kingdom short.

DLC pack or Odyssey 2 with new kingdoms based on other games in the Mario universe. Delfino Kingdom, BeanBean Kingdom, Paper Kingdom, Boo Kingdom with Luigi's Mansion, etc.

My bet: Mario 3D World 2 announcement during next year (christmas launch). Mario Odyssey 2 2019-2020.

Anyway i'm receiving Xenoblade 2 tomorrow so i'm done for this year, lol.

I'm figuring like a Galaxy 2 with new kingdoms to explore, maybe even a couple of remade kingdoms like Bom-Omb Battlefield.

But the real question is: why are you guys still posting on this forum instead of accusing people of crimes that they haven't committed and thought policing anyone who disagrees with you?!? Pls join us on ResetE... wait, no I'm a normal person who just goes to gaming forums to talk about games with fellow enthusiasts.

As you were OP! Props to you for posting this thread as it's a good topic of conversation and it's a game that lots of people really love. Every true gamer knows "that feeling" you get once you've finished a game that really means something to you. It's when you realise that you don't have any other games to play that match it and you're inevitably left in a kind of melancholy abandon where even some objectively great games can feel comparatively mediocre.

I bounced of a couple titles and found Battle Chef Brigade to be a great palate cleanser before Xenoblade 2.

DON'T play Ratchet & Clank PS4 right after - it just made me sad.

I seriously doubt that we won't see a Mario game for a long time. I'm pretty sure that development team is almost always working on a Mario game, now whether it's 2D or 3D or for the 3DS or Switch... I don't know. That said, I'd want another 2D Mario entry, although I've yet to play SO (it's the next game I'm going to purchase, just finishing other stuff right now). I really enjoy the New Super Mario games, except for NSMB2, and hope they can make another one that follows on the greatness of NSMBU.

Well for me, I've never played SM64.

And I still have BotW to tackle.

And Xenoblade 2 is on its way in the mail.

I am good to go on gaming goodness!

definitely Xenoblade 2 for me next. Havent 100% mario yet though, so i'll chip away at those last moons in the coming months.

I do really hope there is some dlc coming for odyssey, like the teased sunshine content.

I absolutely loved Odyssey but I'm not in big hurry for new DLC for it. I still need to finish BotW and I have Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to worry about next.

I'm playing Fire Emblem Warriors at the moment, and after that it'll be Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Unless the second DLC pack for Zelda arrives before I can play through FEW, then I'll play that before Xenoblade. I have lot's of games to play on Switch, that's for sure.

I *fear* that we'll get Odyssey 2. Don't get me wrong, Odyssey was fun. But I have no desire for more of the same. Give me a Mario game that focuses on well-timed platforming instead of relying on enemy attacks and time pressure to create challenge.

I got REALLY burned out with odyssey. Got like 700 moons and now I can't even look at the game. I actually got Horizon Zero Dawn for cheap last week, having a really god time with it, a nice change of pace.
For nintendo? With Metroid or pulling another galaxy 2.

What are your gaming hours like? I'm 150 hours into Zelda BOTW and won't be touching Mario until I'm done with Zelda. I started Horizon Dawn for an hour when family was over, but going straight back to Zelda until it's done.

If I'm lucky I get a few hours in on the weekend. I can't imagine getting 700 moons that quickly. I only have 89 shrines out of 200 in Zelda and only 150 Korok seeds or so out of 700!

Hopefully on to better games, especially platformers. SMO's main campaign lacked any platforming challenge. It had way too many collectibles (purchasing moon pieces with gold coins? talk about a chore), it was artistically inconsistent (e.g. dinosaur + new donk city), some of the animations were pretty bad (like when the makeshit bridge fell), and to make the full use of Mario's abilities, they pushed garbage motion controls.

Super Cloudbuilt's more my speed. It's actually a well-designed, skill-based game.

There's definitely a lot you could do to make an Odyssey 2 fresh. I wouldn't be shocked if we see it. But I seriously doubt we'll see an Odyssey 3, since that's not Nintendo's style.

What do you mean WHERE? Another classic Mario with a twist in its setting.

Mario Galaxy changed people's perception about how the mario franchise should progress. There once was a mario World, then we had Galaxy and everybody thought "urr durr what about mario Universe! where else could they go?" and that's not how it works.

The next Mario could be something as simple as Bowser kidnaps the princess and takes her to a Pirate World and it's a new "traditional" mario but with some pirates here and there like DKC2.
And the innovation could come from the gameplay side like it should be.

As complete and inventive and indulgent as Odyssey is, I can see them doing another one. The potential for new abilities and environments is far from exhausted.

Easily. This game mostly had classic SMB enemies. Think if they pulled in SMB2 enemies and more. Nintendo has tons of content to pull from. Not to mention letting you play as Luigi, Peach(already has Tiara), Toad, Yoshi, etc. I think an Odyssey 2 is definitely in the works.

I feel like playing a 2D Mario. Not a "NSMB" game, those are in the past. I'm talking about new graphics, new music, new stuff.

Super Mario Switch, pretty please. We all need it.

Still have to finish BotW anyway. Takes a long time for me, because I just can't adjust to the fact that my weapons break. I hate myself for hating that feature.

Super Mario World's Fair

Hub world is a giant Mario-themed world's fair with lots of different art exhibits, new technological innovations (power-ups and other gimmicks), etc. Some of the action takes place in that land, but there are also secret paintings and other objects throughout the fair to find and jump into which transport one to entirely different areas with crazy art styles and challenging platforming.

If your bets abour SM3DW2 and Odyssey 2 come true, I’d be VERY happy. Like, that sounds perfect. Now just throw in another Luigi’s Mansion game and we’re done here folks!
