Yep, I got the initial 1.8gig patch and when I tried to launch it, it wanted another 17 gig update that I had to select manually.

Thanks! I lost 2 hours of download time and could be playing it by now.

Every time this thread gets bumped, I cross my fingers and toes that it's related to a Sunset Overdrive patch.

Gamersyde updated their YouTube channel with side-by-sides of the new Xbox One X Fallout 4 update:

Pre-patch vs Post-patch:

https://youtu.be/UJT9VI0tcu4

Gameplay:

https://youtu.be/XsPG7_wMk_k

https://youtu.be/E4GDjXwLzQE

I had a quick look and it's immediately noticable that there's a gigantic resolution boost over the OG Xbone with a very noticable increase in ambient occlusion. Shadow draw distance seemed to be the same to me (sadly). But I'm not Digital Foundry. So I'm looking forward to the proper analysis from more technically inclined gamers :D. Either way, it looks great and I can't wait to return to F4 on the X.

I played the Rise of the Tomb Raider trial at 60 FPS on my X. That's going to earn a purchase. It was pretty awesome.

Tough to get back into Fallout 4 after all this time.
I was level 81 starting out Far Harbor but haven’t touched it in a year.
I’m overburdened and full of weapons that I forgot what they do.

Anyway, it looks and runs really well.

Some great info on mods

Fallout 4 & Skyrim: In-depth List of Best Visual Mods to Improve Xbox One X
Enhancements.

So, with both Skyrim and Fallout 4 having their Xbox One X patches today, I saw quite a bit of people overwhelmed by the amount of available mods. Since both Skyrim and Fo4 have had mod support for a while now, it's completely understandable that a lot of people can miss on some great visual mods because they just can't find them, or don't know about them. These games can REALLY look a lot better with the right mods. However, do keep in mind that any mods disables achievements.

THIS LIST ONLY¹ INCLUDES VISUAL MODS. No incompatibilities with your existing (or new) mods load order.

I compiled the best visual mods for both games (I've been modding for quite a bit, perhaps some of you remember my Skyrim post a while back). Do note that this list only includes visual mods, such as lighting, weather, textures all across the board, animations, and additions (such as foliage).

You can search these mods in the mod section in the main menu of both Fallout 4 and Skyrim, respectively.

¹I also included bug fixes because they're pretty much necessary at this point.
And yes, this is in load order, so no worries about that. Usually visual mods go towards the bottom of your load order list, so any other mods you decide to install should go below all bug fixes (which are highltighted in the list), and above all visual mods (everything else in the list).

I don't understand why Battlefield 1 is not in the list, EA has a good relationship with MS and PS4 pro already has a patch. I know there were rumours that there will be a patch, but the truth is that it even doesn't appears in the list.
DICE were incredibly secretive about the Pro patch too. I bet we'll see the X update coincide with the Turning Tides DLC due Dec 11.

What do you guys think about the Fallout 4 update? I haven't played it in awhile. It seemed pretty meh last night compared to other enhanced games.

I loaded up a new game in F4 last night as it’s been a long time since my last save, l figured I start fresh.

Definitely noticed the increase in resolution right away and it didn’t do anything to help how fucking ugly the player models are lol. Good god man! Yikes

The nuke was incoming, I ran across the woods with the family, frame rate is still dogshit. Made it into the vault, looked around at all the ugly weird faces and then shut it off.

Fucking waste of bandwidth ugh.

LOL!

When I first started playing FO4 I could not stand the Art direction, why can they get their faces and areas right? I expected it to be an improvement to FO3; however, after adding some mods the game became definitely more tolerable and fun to be around.

Now, if someone out there will be gracious enough to make a mod for the characters faces, kind of like No more blocky faces in Skyrim, it would be great!

Can I get a couple opinions? I have the Xbox X and I am wondering if it is worth upgrading my TV or if the difference will be minimal. I currently have a curved Samsung 55 inch TV which is 4K however it is not HDR, the link below is the TV I have wanted for the last couple years.

If the difference is minimal I might hold off. Can anyone suggest the best settings for the Xbox X with my current TV and a TV with HDR? Not sure what the 8bit - 10bit stuff even means? Mine is currently set on 8bit

It's minimal in my opinion. I actually have a Sony X800D and went to a regular 4k monitor for my gaming needs. Put the Sony in the bed room.

HDR is worth it on the sets that do it right. THey should have close to 1000 peak nits brightness but I just went from non HDR to HDR and on some game like Gears 4 its mind blowing. 10 bit relates to a wider range of colors. Def put it on 10bit. True HDR will have 10 bit color

I must say... I really think I did things right this gen...I skipped out on the One and PS4 and only now did I buy an X1X and it really feels a jump into "next-gen". Just played through a bit of Titanfall 2 and I'm left amazed.

Best part about waiting till now though is the cheap games now available everywhere...yesterday I pick up TR, TF2, AND Doom for under 35 bucks.

You know you might be onto something here. If the future of consoles now involve half-step iterations, waiting might be the way to go. Let them iron out the issues of a new launch and swoop in while all the games are older and cheaper.

My only problem is I'm a sucker for new Halo games. Have to get it day one.

Well, ms and Sony made it easy for me with their weak hardware and no BC at launch. If they actually do it right the next time, I'll have to steel myself from jumping in. :p

But you missed out on four years worth of gaming bliss in the meantime. I'm glad you're mightely impressed with the graphics and saved a little money... but damn dude.

This just in, EA has promised that Plants vs Zombies 1 will run at 60fps also on the XBox One X exclusively!

They are currently testing the patch and will have it ready sometime in Q2 2018.

Is it me or are the Fallout 4/Skyrim patches just meh. I mean it's great that they at least matched the Pro patches but I thought they would look a lot better. :(

I guess that's on Bethesda

yeah I think very little effort by the devs was put in, but the breadth of mods on the X help go a long way.

I’m sure it would be much tougher to do engine wise but adding HDR to Fallout 4 would have been awesome.
I was in Far Harbor, at night walking to a low lit shack. They could have upped the atmosphere with hdr.
