Some say that Metal Gear series is dead but I don't think so. I'm sure Konami will make a new proper Metal Gear game at some point. Remasters of the old games might come first but Konami knows that there is demand for more games. What do you think Konami will make? Here is what I'm hoping. A full 3D remake of the first 1987 Metal Gear and its sequel with modern gameplay. It is the most likely scenario because then Konami has some blueprint to work with at least. They wouldn't need to come up with a completely new story. It will need new writing to fit the canon and to be a modern game but it can be done. Imagine Solid Snake vs Big Boss in 3D and with cutscenes. I want to see that happen. The most important thing is to bring David Hayter back. Then I would be excited.
Kojima has also mentioned that he wanted to make a game with The Boss as the main character set in WW2. That sounds like a great idea in my opinion. They could also make a game set between MGS1-2 with Snake and Otacon working for the anti-Metal Gear organization Philanthropy that was mentioned in MGS2. You would go to missions sabotaging and destroying Metal Gears. Konami has many options.
