Lol at mod response

Great to see the mods recognize That Cunt is probably one of the most unique aussie words we use which can mean a number of different things when applied in context but outside of Australia it's one of the most offensive to people it seems.

NEXT LEVEL lame™
Yeah it was pretty lame watching the only person I felt ever understood me and literally a decade's worth of friends collectively turn their backs on me.

Pretty lame.

I guess the positive is that I chill with my local friends more frequently and have been going out to more local events. Oh, and I've got a good excuse whenever people ask why the posters here care about what happens on ERA.
Look on the bright side, the kind of people that would easily turn their backs on someone aren't the kind of people that deserve to be in your life in the first place. So it sounds like you dodged a bullet in the long run.

White liberals were a mistake.

And as for the colourblind racism. Reminds me of this forum, as this place is rife with it.
https://www.resetera.com/threads/the-harsh-truth-about-progressive-cities.69156/#post-12775047

If this came out of the mouth of a Trump supporter/conservative, you'd never hear the end of it.
But when other liberals attack each other, they're fine with it.

All I can say though is they personally had it coming. They joined a party that guilts them into believing they're the source of all problems. When they start feeling outnumbered, they better not run to the Trump supporters who predicted what's going to happen when you chase identity politics.

Edit: Bonus

not a fan of the reasoning

imo, issues that are a result of "color-blind" economic factors are still preferable to issues that are a result of white supremacist ideologies

i'd rather be invisible/ignored than get shot/killed

Drumpf's Amurrikkka is so in tune with killing everyone, that liberal strongholds are obviously the bastion of peace and security.
Oh wait, they're not.

There's too many things to link and I'm not gonna go fishing through that particular garbage pile.

Just type in his name into the search function and see for yourself.
A couple examples to contextualise the ban would be helpful though, because by itself, the thread does not appear malicious. Since many here either do not have a Resetera acount or only have a banned one (without search or even log out privileges), not many will be able to follow your line of thought otherwise.

Redneckerz

Those long posts don't cover that red neck boy
I split them but just in the kitchen sink, and I left it for a few months, I'll do a better job this time, and more publically. I was the first 3 bans on the site so it's fair enough.

There are easier ways to get attention. I could be far more unreasonable and blindly support literally everything they do in order to get a rise of you guys, but I have voiced my problems with Era and it's moderation on multiple occasions now. Also if attention was all I was after it would be easier to join the bandwagon and agree with all of you on everything. Then I would have all the likes my little heart could ever want lol

Having ventured back over there in recent days, I have to say the Gaming forum there seems to have taken a big turn for the better. Very active, hardly any political threads, haven't seen any political nonsense in regular gaming threads etc. Hope that keeps up as this place is still too slow for me (though getting better). Etcetc. is still a cesspool, but mostly moot to me since I stay out of political/news/social issue threads online pretty much entirely now so the moderation is moot.

Shame that they apparently tried an entertainment subforum area, but scrapped it quickly. That's always been my biggest want for here or there--I hate catch all off topic forums as I'm just on forums for game, tv, movie and sports threads. I don't give a shit about people's random life shit or news/politics.

In any case, I'll stay active in both places (have a different name over there) if for no other reason than curiosity at how the two communities fare over time since they're so similar topically and so differently ideologically and in moderation approaches.

I think you're on point about Era's gaming side. It's mostly fine and easily the best place to go for gaming talk.

That said, man...I thought the Sony fanboys were bad. The dopey Nintendo fanboys over there are obnoxious. Can't read half the stuff because of them. lol

Oh and then this gem from yesterday: https://www.resetera.com/threads/going-outside-after-playing-spider-man.69003/

Yeah, the Nintendo fanboys there and on old GAF were/are always terrible. I quit old GAF before the meltdown largely because of them and the general console warrior nonsense. I really just needed a break and now just stay out of console warrior-ish threads and make heavier use of ignore user for raging fanboys of all stripes. :D

White supremacists want to divide the world. That is what this is all about. It is not about economics, it's about embracing their supremacist ideals.

America elects a President who actually does his job to protect American jobs, and he gets called a Nazi for it. Almost makes me believe in some Globalist conspiracy since liberals in every country, hate their own countries and want to be swallowed up by bigger, outside ones.

Even more hilarious, is the Tarriffs are targeting China. You know? The Communists of the East who treat their own people like slaves and have no regard for individuality? *Gasp* Is this the future they want for the whole world?

They're brainwashed to hate anything a person they're told to hate does.

It is literally religious / cult-like tribalism. They would vote against their own interests if it meant being opposed to the person they are told to dislike.

Oh what's this? A thread dedicated to body shaming a man? Anyone being auctioned? No?

Shocker!

That same thread would not last 2 minutes if it were about a female that looked like a day old beat up Arby's sandwich. 😂

N/M joke was in poor taste. Disregard.

The Russians are posing as members to create topics that manufacture outrage on one end, and then using the Republican elite/media to double the outrage. They understand the majority. They did it with BLM and other groups and haven’t stopped. I believe one or more of their mods is either a Russian operative or being manipulated and doesn’t realize it. China has shifted from focusing on their economy to military expansion, thus the war games, what I’ve seen, and America is getting beaten up on both sides. There’s only one way out of this, and frankly, I don’t see us getting out of this because of stupid party bias on both sides. CA and NY must vote red to purge China from our elected Democrat officials. The rest of the country must vote blue to purge the Russians and their asset Trump.
10 years ago, a Russian professor made a prediction of how the United States could split.

What seemed laughable then is almost starting to sound true today.

Well you also have Soros funded actors at play as well in social media. I hate to keep calling back to that David Brock leak, but it really explains what is going on to the Trump presidency.

I consider myself fairly neutral over Trump these days because I am so burnt out on the negative news. I don't trust anything the media says about what is going on though. I don't think they are desperate enough to crash the economy yet to take him out of power, but I do fear that it is on the table.

Isn't this literally what happened to Bernie Sanders?:messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy::messenger_tears_of_joy:

God the Hillary shilling across the internet was awful during the election. So many posters attacking Liberals and fiscal progressives for not being socially woke enough. The Democratic establishment didn't want Bernie to get in office just as much as they didn't want Trump. Both are populists (albeit with differing flavors of populism) and that doesn't fit into a globalist agenda.

It stands to question whether isolationism is a good way to protect jobs. I mean, clearly for primarily locally sold products this can be a plus, but companies that are exporting may suffer from such trade wars. Overall, I'd expect a trade war to be a net loss for the US.

You only think that because you hate that I agree with Era about certain types of posting. The fact that I am even on Gaf in the first place should tell you I'm a bit more unhappy with the way Era works than what you think.

Just because I don't personally hate every single member of the site and hope that it burns to the ground doesn't make me 95% fanboy. There are damn good people on Era. It's not their fault a few of our mods are zealots at times.

A few weeks ago I asked a friend why my country can't have somebody as competent as Putin leading it. I then paused, thought for a second, and realized that I had answered my own question.

I do so loathe the gentleman but I have to respect how good he is at his job.

Isolationism gives workers more leverage, something that Democrats used to care about. When you have an open, worldwide economy, it allows businesses to use their capital -- the capital they're sponging off their workers, according to socialist rhetoric -- and spend it on cheaper labor elsewhere. Or do you believe businesses should profit immensely from the hard work of a local town and then up-and-leave whenever they feel like it, gutting the town entirely? Local work creates local communities and local unions.

Remember those? Unions? They're really hard to build and enforce when a corporation's workforce is split across numerous branches across numerous countries.

The reality is that all of our markets are "rigged" in the sense that we pick and choose what regulations to uphold and which things to restrict. There's nothing wrong -- nor anti-capitalist -- about this fact. So we need to stop letting corporate-bought politicians (who have infested both political parties) get into office and pick these rules for us.

I don't want to pay Amazon's employees welfare because they work for the richest guy on the planet. That's his responsibility. I don't want to pay Wal-Mart's employees welfare because they work for the biggest retail chain on the planet. That's Wal-Mart's responsibility. I don't want to pay "seasonal" workers (hotel staff or retail staff, for instance) who are let go from their jobs "when things get a bit slow" when the company profited immensely from their work during the "busy months". Many corporations will leverage their HR team to give you the unemployment paperwork so that you're all ready to go when they lay you off for the winter. In work that is truly seasonal (farming) I can see the need, but "business slowing down a bit during some months of the year" is not "seasonal".

Governments should have a responsibility to look after their own citizens first.

In Canada, we had a bunch of companies go under around 2011. Guess what happened? Some U.S companies came in and bought them up.
Sounds good right? Nope. They too just decided to close some businesses and then leave.

Who then suffers for these decisions? The Canadians whose jobs are being held at ransom by some foreign company south of the border.

This is why globalism is cancer. All the perks of cheap cellphones doesn't address you are at the mercy of some faceless company in some far away land.

When China becomes the source of all future manufacturing, how exactly is the West suppose to survive? They'll extract all the benefits to send their people to other countries and start buying up all the dying properties, and the local citizens wont be able to fight back.

The difference is, GAF (now) would seemingly not close/ban a ladybits thread dedicated to a specific women's body shaming, ERA would.

But of course, you know this hypocrisy stands.
It may come as a shock but I know it's hypocritical and that why I and a few others wanted it closed, but we were overruled. A combination of "Fuck Trump" and knowing people wanted to talk about it was the reasoning.

I hate Trump than arguably anyone else here and even I don't wanna see threads like that. Now that's mostly because I don't ever wanna see the words "Trump" "sex" and "Penis" in the same sentence. Not out of any kind of respect for the shit. Especially considering he has no problem publicly body shaming people.

But nobody needs to know this kind of shit. His own wife pretty much doesn't wanna think about this stuff. Why should we?

We are learning that there are certain cancerous growths -- figuratively and literally -- associated with dense population centers. It's not a USA thing. It's not a Canada thing. It's not a Western thing. It's just a human society thing. Big cities and densely-populated areas come with all kinds of baggage to go along with their benefits.

The last 30-ish years of neoliberal globalism has run its course. We all watched the experiment. We all lived through it. We all gave it a chance. And it has ravaged our countries. Time to try something else. No hard feelings. Neoliberalism was just "wrong" and that's okay. No one can say we didn't give it a fair chance to succeed, and no one can rob it of its victories along the way.

Globalism does not put more power into the hands of the individual. It does not equalize our citizenry (unless you consider "equalize" to mean "pushing everyone further toward the bottom"). Instead, it puts more power into those who can adequately leverage the "global" situation i.e. wealthy elite and their corporations.

Aren’t they already buying up property in cities en mass in turn helping to make urban living even more costly?

I know a lot of Asians, specifically Chinese are buying up property en mass (in Canada) through first hand knowledge.

Or why do elephants do it in water? Have you ever tried to keep a 2000 pound pussy wet?

See probably innapropriate and maybe (I hope not?) banworthy.
