That trailer seemed pretty...meh...but has all the polish of a really well made Marvel movie...so I'm torn.

That’s iiitt. What i felt! Like something is off but it has a lot of polish, it looks good.

I’ll watch with my family as always, there is no Marvel movie i haben’t enjoyed (key here is enjoyed lol)

The trailer is mezzo, but the Brie Larson did not feel charismatic. I have the same impression with Henry Cavill in Superman.

I'm still confused with the statement that Captain Marvel will be the most powerful hero in the MCU. I mean Thor with the Stormbreaker was able to overpower Thanos with the completed Infinity Gauntlet. So if she's more powerful than Thor, I'm worried they're gonna have her throttle Thanos in Avengers 4. I mean I love Superman, but I hated how the entire Justice League was shown as useless against Steppenwolf, until Supes showed up and just beat the crap outta him.

To be honest, I actually don't think she should even be in Avengers 4. A4 is suppose to be the conclusion to the 1st Generation of MCU heroes. It should be their story, and their triumph over a near unbeatable foe. I don't want to see the new guy/girl show up and take that spotlight from them.

I doubt she will beat Thanos, with Nebula still running around. And still haven't seen Adam warlock also, which also beat Thanos in the comics.

Trailer was meh and she lacks the charisma I'd expect, judging from this. Strange, Stark and Star Lord were masterfully cast, for example. She seems like an odd choice to me.

You know exactly what her character and personality will be like based on 6 lines of dialogue? Incredible.

I watched a couple minutes of her from various scenes in the film and she is coming across as really dull to me. Maybe it's just a very poorly edited trailer that highlights her in all her boring stoic poses/moments. I've also seen the actress in another film and while she was very good in that, I'm even more convinced having seen that, that the casting could be better for this role. I hope she'll be great and prove me wrong.

This looks alright, but it feels like it'll be full of that MCU blandness that makes the movies fun to watch in theaters but then immediately vanish from your mind. Oh well, I'm this deep into the MCU, I might as well keep going.

Also, J Scott Campbell has a much more fun take on the character

People can doubt and hate, but we all know that the movie is gonna be number 1 for several weeks and be financially successful.

It's fairly obvious at this point that Marvel doesn't make bombs.
Like a transformer movie? This is what we are doing now?

Being #1 at the box office doesn't mean your movie is perfect

Never said it was, but Marvel has yet to put out a bad movie. So i doubt they are gonna start now.

Maybe it's because I'm not familiar with the character but that looked very meh.

After all the talk about her being the strongest hero in the MCU everything in that trailer looked pretty mundane.

So far she doesn't come across as specially likeable or charismatic either. She actually looks kinda bored in most shots IMO

But I'll keep my hopes up. Maybe it's just a bad trailer

Trailer did nothing for me, but I'm also not a fan of Captain Marvel at all. I'll still watch it since I see every MCU film, but my hype is pretty low right now. Really hoping this plants the seeds for an MCU take on Secret Invasion though.

While I wouldn't necessarily call them bad, Thor 2 and Iron Man
2/3 do exist :p

So their track record isn't perfect in my opinion.

Where did you see these couple of minutes worth of scenes that involved Brie Larson? Because the trailer involved 6 lines of dialogue from her, 2 of which involved her on screen speaking. Probably a total of 5 seconds of seeing her actually act with her voice involved.

I know nothing about comics but let me get this straight...

There’s a hero called Captain Marvel, and it isn’t satire? That’s the stupidest thing I ever heard.

That's an incredibly low bar and considering the talent involved in this it's going to take some major screw ups for this to end up that poorly.
Poorly? I thought Wonder Woman was a fun movie! What more do you want from something based on comic books? It's hardly Tolstoy.

The trailer looks alright but kind of soulless. I am not a big comic book fan, so I have no idea who Captain Marvel is, but she seems to have as much personality as a piece of cardboard. Her power rays look kinda cheesy but the time jump thing could be interesting.

So far, nothing in this trailer tempts me to drop my decision to not see stand alone Marvel movies. Skipped Black Panther, Ant Man and now this.

In her current run in the comics, this is accurate, which makes me worried about this movie.

So far the better looking Captain Marvel movie is DC's. At least it remembers it's a movie about a kid who can turn into an adult super hero by saying a magic word and works with that. This felt so bland. I know the comics so I know the old lady she punched was a Skrull, but that still shouldn't be the most interesting part of the trailer.

Civil War was so dumb.

it's strange because larson has tons of charisma, and a great sense of humor. i guess they're going for a deflated, boring look?

I felt 100% neutral on this trailer. Which is weird, I’ve never felt that way before. I usually have an opinion. I will wait to see more, but I am feeling like this might be a Doctor Strange type. Completely okay, but by the numbers and forgettable.

You are definitely in the minority on that opinion lol
is he? Right now the opinion of this movie es eh...
It was way to over politicized and the movie itself was not even reviewed at this point. It was the political importance for people. If we go by plot etc you know like actually reviewing a movie people are pretty eh about this one. Especially here in Germany he was not recieved very well by critics.

It was just another marvel Movie and not another Winter soldier.

Because it happened before Infinity War? >.>

Because besides the actions scenes, none of the movie was good. The characters fighting felt weird and unnatural. It was cool, but their reasons for it felt thin. A lot of the dialog was either boring or dumb. They bring back Ross but don't do anything with him (easily could've introduced Red Hulk). Tony's anger was on the silly levels of Martha (and I saw the movies damn near back to back, there are way too many similarities besides picking two sides of a fight). "I've excepted the fact that you are not in control at all when hydra says your code word but I am just so angry that you killed my parents even though I've never brought this up before this movie and it feels weird and out of place." The villain was just all around dumb. Really, it's fucking Zemo and this is what we get? A guy with a plan that shouldn't work for so many reasons and could've had his own super soldiers but didn't want those, just wanted to split the Avengers which didn't really 100% work. Most people you ask about it will always bring up the fight again Cross-bones, the highway chase or the airport fight because those were so well done, while the rest of the movie is just dumb and/or forgettable.

Yeah he is definitely in the minority. The movie was widely praised by audiences and critics alike. It also was wildly successful financially.

It's okay to not like the movie. That's fine. But let's not pretend that's a common opinion.

The conflict did feel forced indeed with no one pointing out the alternative outcome if the avengers had failed.

Again....

Was it loved because it was a good movie or was it loved because of the message people tried to hammer in? Again In Germany a country that has nothing to do with the race obsessions of America it was mostly called Kitsch in english it would be cheesy, tacky etc. Because people here saw the movie and not the political message behind it.

When you know even go to places like Resetera it is the same. While it was loved back then for the political message the film itself was just . decent or another marvel movie for many.

This looks like what I expected. A solid rental. As long as it doesn't turn out to be "men dumb girl good" I'll probably enjoy it. I really liked Wonder Woman.

I obviously don't live in Germany. Here in America, it was box office hit. It was important for a couple of reasons:

It was the first big budget scifi/fantasy movie with a nearly all black cast (there's tons of those with white casts)...

The plot of "should we/shouldn't we?" for Wakanda to come out of hiding and help the world at Large was a driving point for T'Challa to decide. The visuals, costumes based on actual African tribes ... These things were an emotional tether for many who saw it. The thing for me that brought on the waterworks was near the end when T'Challa and Shuri went to Oakland and the little kid came up to T'Challa and asked "who are you? Where did you come from?" ... That whole ending was about giving hope and change to those who didn't see much of those things. And they were going to help the world. Not just black folks.

I can see why some non-black people didn't like it... But POC are always told we are to relate to white leads in films where aren't POC aren't very represented.

Surprisingly, it did well in Russia which doesn't care about PCness and doesn't have a large black population.

Wait so Captain Marvel is now a guy? I thought it was some Muslim women which name I forgot...

This whole Captain Marvel thing has been confusing. I have always been of the thought that DC Captain Marvel = Billy Batson\Shazam and Marvel's Captain Marvel is Carol Danvers. Then there is Captain Mar Vel that apparently is in this movie too.

You're thinking of the new Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan.

So confusing lol.

I personally have always thought the name Captain Marvel or anything including Marvel was lame. I like the change to Shazam on the DC side.

That is what I was saying. It was not because it was a good movie but because of the message about it. If you would just get rid of all this political part was it still a good movie or was it just a decent Marvel flick?

Yeah It is the same for me. I just think of the movies/series as canon and everything else I do not care about anymore. This wa always the biggest problem with Marvel and also DC. Try to follow a chronological path that is coherent in all this and you will realize how convoluted this whole thing is. That is why I love Manga like One Piece. You have a story that is now going on for over 20 years and everything in this world makes sense.

Captain Marvel is still Kamala Khan last time I checked. I am pretty far behind on my comics though.

I thought it was a bad movie at first because of the messaging, not so much the messaging in the movie itself but from all of the Journalists that kept pushing things about it. I saw it release day and I just thought it was totally overrated and didn't really enjoy it at all. Grabbed a digital copy of it to see if I really didn't like it or maybe I was in a bad mood. It was much better on second viewing for some reason. I don't think it really deserved the massive praise and box office but it wasn't as bad as I had originally judged. Certainly there are better Marvel movies for sure. Its a middle of the road movie.

That is also a reason why I have not watched it yet. But I plan and a non stressful weekend for sure since it is on netflix.

And yeah it was certainly not a ad movie but it was not the pne people praised it to be in terms of movie quality.
