Personally I see no issue with the term White Knighting, to cover rushing to the defence of those perfectly capable of defending themselves, in an act of vanity. If someone has a problem with it, it's likely they're doing it.

Why are people so angry in here? So much hate for a site that now doesn't affect you and corners off the stupidity. I mean I'm wasting my time even replying here but it's just so morbidly curious seeing how many people continually darting back and forth like some sad ex lover trying to not be interested but 100% still. Just stop people, make some threads on the actual site you so like and bring some actual traffic to this site in the form of intelligent discussions.
So this is the first extended look I've had at GAF since it all crashed and burned last year. Figured I might see what the old place is up to since ERA is down and maybe even talk about some video games.

First and formost: Most users aren't angry here, but comment (in various intensities) on ERA, although i feel we should cover more sites.
Regarding your complaint: Welcome! I think one should know that we have had a lot of previous posters citing the same issue, and therefore, ill be doing an attempt at a proper conversation, taking cites from a prior post on this.
- In the land of The Names*, an opposing view, however nuanced, is a dangerous one in their eyes. Regardless of how correct you actually are, in the eyes of The Names you are always incorrect. This kiwipost about false equivalencies (A staple among the Book of Reasons) explains it better (found below), especially the bolded.
- My point is that because of this system, you are essentially given little leeway to deviate from what The Names consider valid. Some protected users ofcourse can deviate so that there is the appearance that more broad opinions are allowed, even though Reeeeelly, that isn't the case.
- If just activity is your main reason to pick ERA, then i feel one is essentially closing the eyes for the things lingering underneath. It isn't a bit banhappy either: The sole reason a site scraper exists documenting each and every single ban was made out of a necessity to keep track of the motivation behind said bans. Everything is a history of x/a false equivalency, as the bolded also shows, i don't feel these are the real reasons why people get banned. People get banned because The Names consider the opinions and conclusions of others as wrong when they run opposite of what they believe in. (The Names is a term i use to denote a part of the staff, and not all staff, that essentially dictate policy. By giving it a group term, it means i am not picking on specifics. Little Helpers refer to the members that effectively bait users into a ban, have protection, and so on.)
- Please highlight a series of posts from different threads that support either that we are angry, or that the site invokes racism, discrimination to a sufficient degree that it should be addressed. The thing is, multiple users have signed up (or returned) calling GAF out for these reasons, but when it is asked to elaborate, we never get any details. In order to have a conversation on this, we need factual evidence.
- On GAF, extremes are filtered out, but opinions of either side are allowed and maintained. The staff also attempts to not inject their own personal views regarding politics into threads. See this post chain i had with a staff member for more info regarding this. This should also help answering some. There is more, but this is in a private conversation.
- I am well aware that several ERA members have personal issues relating to depression, withdrawal, anxiety, and so on. I also understand that threads like the Mental Health thread and its Discord are an outlet to these people and i wholeheartly support that. However, i do not feel this is an excuse for the kind of rhetoric that goes around there (usually by The Names) regarding race, or pedophilia. There are takes in there that are reminiscent of OldGAF at its worst: How is it interconnectable that ERA users get offended that virtual character rights in games are not a thing, yet on the other end, the site is okay with wanting to see a 15 year old naked kid in a uncensored movie? Things do not add up. Claiming sexual harrassment in Valkirya Chronicles even tho the girl who is harassed actually holds her own more than most of the lads in the game... It just does not stick favourably for the negative image that the site has.
- Perhaps it is futile, but as you can see, i am willing to listen and to reason back with you on your points raised. I do not think every user on ERA is terrible or supporting the cause set forth by The Names. Naively, i'd wish both places would offer dialogue, like North and South Korea (As we are to each and one another).

You're questioning their basic axioms, so you cannot be right. To them, saying "blacks can be racist" is indiscernible from claiming up is down, hot is cold, 4+4=7, etc.

You may find that most users will react sceptically: This is because this particular complaint sort to say has been brought up numerous times, but the accusing end more often than not was not interested in a proper talk on this, and just wanted to say the same or a variant of the words you have been saying here now.

It's more a case of the asylum offers a source of never-ending hilarity and it seems there is always fresh material to amuse and entertain. It's just childish from my point of view, especially when many are now calling it "Reee" which is straight up cringe. Why not just indulge in the actual activity of this site instead of using another site as your basis for arguments and discussions?
I'd love to make some threads but I can't yet, though honestly the more I read through the less inclined I am because the community is so wrapped up in political nonsense and off-board complaining. What's the point in starting discussions on gaming side when it is a ghost town. You can't even argue it isn't when you've got threads on the front page that haven't been replied to in 30+ minutes. The heck kind of active community is that?
Granted I'm glad things aren't lighting paced like before but I'm seeing the same posters over and over, OT's being ignored and all the while people giggling because they get to poke the crazy man and make cringing sounds like "reeee".

In my two weeks ban from GAF I started using N4G any got banned like 5 or 6 times for speaking my mind in comments. Mind you, it wasn't anything offensive at any means, just gaming opinions. The average lifespan of my account was less than 24h. Actually got banned like minutes ago for writing that censorship is wrong and all people of age should decide which content to receive by themselves and the limits of law.
What a fuckin shithole of a site. How does it still operate with that Nazi Gestapo moderation. It was harder to get banned on the carcass of humanity known as ResetEra.com.

Never been there before so I just checked and clicked the top story about Sony censorship. The comments seem overwhelmingly against censorship with many pointing out the hypocrisy of censoring games not meant for kids to protect them while positioning the platform as home to the most violent games like God of War and the Last of Us.
It was a much nicer comment section than most sites I've read, actually. There were some really good, levelheaded responses without a bunch of fighting! With that said I did see a few pretty extreme comments about Marxism that were still upvoted. You must of said some stuff to get banned so much, lol. That was the only story I clicked on, though.

Yes, it is borderline pornography, at the very least it is titillating erotic content with little value outside of that. But I have to disagree on the point of Sony not acting due to demand from the public. Such actions are always performed to prevent negative reactions that could be hurtful to the brand and thus Sony must have gotten the impression that it is indeed in public demand to act on such content. I think Sony's policies are reflective of the prudery in the US which has been on the rise (from a pretty high level anyway).
It is certainly not my kind of content, but in a world where games glorifying violence such as GTA and RDR and those romanticising war such as CoD or Battlefield are being heavily marketed on Sony systems, it is clearly a hypocritical move to ban some anime breasts. I want no part in either of those, but I cannot believe people think they are fighting for a greater good by complaining about anime breasts while financially supporting ultra violent games such as the ones I have talked about above. If one affects how people act in real life negatively (e.g. promoting disrespectful behaviour towards women), why would the other be harmless? And the argument that violent games are restricted towards reflected adult humans is inconsequential, it would have to be applied to erotic content as well.
That being said, of course a posting by JordanN can safely be assumed to be trollish and unbalanced. But I think this is precisely the reason why engaging with his constant stream of outrage posts is a waste of time.
