Someone made a thread “what’s the worst thing you’ve done at work”. And someone told a story about calling a woman a bitch. Got banned for it. Lol. He was answering the OP. He never said it was right.
They act like a stupid AI. Kinda like how Youtube filters can't grasp fair use. No wonder they are labeled as NPCs.

It is too hard to type something out, read it for errors, and re-read it for errors before posting! I need to let my stream of consciousness out in an instant as it happens, unfiltered! :p

I generally do that too and usually only edit to correct typos. Seems dodgy to put forth an idea, let people respond accordingly, then change it later.

Because sometime you post something and then then either someone posted as you did or you see something else you want to quote and respond to and then you have to double post.

What's wrong with two posts in a row if they're different?

I am starting to dislike Resetera. The constant stream of negativity and low effort posts is just too annoying. Although, I am afraid GAF isn't the same anymore. I miss a lot of posters I liked and site activity is too slow.

Only thing to do to fix that is help out and invite your friends. Bring people over who want to converse in an open environment where they don't need to walk on egg shells.

This has been a concern for me as well as of late. Way too much constant bitching for my liking and everyone has to always correct someone on even the most minor of details. It's frustrating but I try my best to just ignore it. Getting harder and harder.

Decided to check GAF again because ResetEra looks like trash now only to find out this site looks different now too. lol

This one here looks better though.

This is exactly what I do. Type, hit post, read what I wrote, and go oh shit and correct for typos.

I very rarely change content, as quotes before the edit will catch it, and if especially egregious a mod will revert it back.

I do the same with texting and it’s really a terrible habit I should try to break.

There's a *giant* gross banner across the bottom of "new" ERA, even when you're scrubbing almost everything with adblockers, asking for money for adblocking.

Was that the secret plan of concocting a reason to migrate the NeoGAF population all along? Monitization?

I held onto my account in some hope that this site would have changed back to some semblance of its former self. I see that's never going to happen under you; nothing has changed.

Fucking ban me.

Lol. I bet you felt cool when you typed that out, especially that last bit. Dramatic people like you are exactly resetera's type. Thanks for doing the community a favor.

Problem? No.

Explanation? Perhaps partially. Transgender people face a ton of bullying, belittling and so on and from that and the general stress of having gender dysphoria there's a high level of severe depression, anxiety and other mental illness in that population.

Hence, the difficulties for having a normal life. The consequences of this is that most of them will just build their lives around defending themselves.

There's another way, a bit more hidden than those people cant barely see:
TRY to be happy, smile to the others, make jokes, laugh about others and about yourself, keep up your self-esteem and forget about that trans-hunt bullshit, and just get over your condition and try to focus on positive things.
Just be nice, and no one, except the most dumb assholes, will care if you are trans or not.

You are doomed at the moment you let your anxiety and fears dominate your mind.

This is the equivalent of saying "Don't be depressed"

Dude...

I assume they are taking medication.

But what I'm saying is that is not always the world what damages you, but also your attitude towards it. And I know it from experience.
And I even capitalised TRY...

Gundam Wing has great music. Too bad bout everything else in that piece of shit.

I don't know why GW is so loved in the US, maybe because it was the first one that really got traction? My first Gundam was 08th MS team and Wing doesn't hold a candle to that one.

It was most kids' first taste of Gundam. The 49 episode format also made it a good choice for toonami.

G Gundam was by far the better kids show. It had fun characters and didnt spend anytime on politics or philosopht like Wing tried so despetately to do. Too bad that wasnt shown first.

Not being able to edit my posts as a New Member is insane.

You can edit up to 5 minutes after posting, but that's it.

Uh... yes, i agree with this, but your post actually reads like that :/

Why do you need to edit it?

Seeing something in a different frame of reference often allows you to catch things you wouldn't in another reference frame of reference and writing is no different. I proofread before posting, but there's often spelling errors that slip passed the sensors before I hit "send" because I'm often still immersed in the more holistic aspects of editing (thinking if there's concepts I should add/remove, checking the tone of the post, etc.). So I prefer to catch those immediately posting.

I've been posting on forums for a decade and a half, and not once have I been involved with a forum system that didn't allow me to edit my posts after-the-fact. That's going to require new habits assuming I decide to stay here, but the notion that it somehow curates a more insightful community is spurious and silly.

Fair enough, but it seems to me that the easy solution is to just participate more and get yourself to member status 😉 It doesn’t take long.

ResetEra is good for getting the latest news because of how much gets posted (although I'm noticing that Gaf seems to be picking up a lot in this respect recently). However, actually clicking on through to a thread is another matter altogether. I find that the atmosphere is often way too negative, and also weirdly aggressive at times.

Not at all.
Check this out.

https://resetera.kiwifarms.net/

Also just saw they banned Rigby. His threads here were legendary. Hahaha.

Here’s what he wrote to get banned.

And of course the modding over there really is something else! That link is a lot of fun to skim through. Seems that there have been lots of bans for "Celebrating death" recently, which does indicate that they are trying not to let the tone go too low, but the fact that the forum seems to attract so many of the kind of people who would write things like "Rest in piss" about a recently deceased president is quite worrying. While I hope that trans people get the respect they deserve wherever they post, the modding there does seem a little extreme. Take this one, for example:

User Banned (1 Month): Transphobia, willful misgendering.
I’ve matched with transgender people by accident on various dating apps because they put their settings as females looking for males. I pretty much end it respectfully by me telling them that I’m flattered but straight and they all have taken it well. One person was surprised on how nice I was. It might help them (on Tinder at least) if some changed their settings around, but what do I know?
The person in this post seemed super respectful, surely not deserving of a month long ban. Shouldn't everyone have the right to decide who they have sex with, and have that consent (or lack of) respected?

Duh! :messenger_grinning:
The guy up top there most likely saw EL doing well and an opportunity to get in on that. They are a registered business and it didn’t take long to roll out there $40/year (lol) Adblock service.

I don’t think it was much of a secret plan. More likely they saw an opportunity (shower story) and struck against the site at the right time.

No, I am not a member on there at all. Do I visit? Rarely, usually if I want some information (such as that contained in a reviews thread).

Sometimes I visit because something daft is going on and a link has been posted on Twitter, in that case it becomes a bit like ambulance chasing but it's very hard not to watch all the crazy.

I'd never go there for actual opinions though. Well, unless I wanted crazy opinions, in that case I'd be there every day.

I requested a perm over there a few days ago. I actually fall in line with a lot of the right-think in that community but the level of toxicity just made me no longer want to engage with them.

Some of the users who post 100+ time per day are absolutely vile and kill any fun to be had over there.

I’m not super active but you all have one more coming back home, so to speak.

Just spent some time over there, what a bunch of insufferable, virtue signalling, spastics. How do you regulars do it?

You could get the same news quicker if you just browse the Gaming/Games subreddit, since that's where RE gets their news in the first place.

No Way. The majority of those kids believe in “guilty until proven innocent”, and those that don’t agree with their politics are considered alt-right nazis.

I went over in the mass exodus because the communities I was following here all immediately jumped ship to Era - the irony being that they've all pretty much died off by now, or I've stopped following at this point.

Although it's a very active/fast moving forum so much of it is just noise. The World Cup threads were absolutely hilarious for this kind of light and shite post content.

Yikes.
