This seems like a mountain over a molehill. If the console brings games you want then play it. If not then don't. It's not a break up, that's ridiculous. I wasn't thrilled with Sony after they dropped the Vita, or 3d gaming, or closed some of my favorite game studios, but guess what? I kept gaming. Can't say I'm into the AAA 3rd Person cinematic story telling they're pushing lately and multiplats are superior on Xbox One X/PC. But I keep my PS4 Pro around for the few exclusives I care about.

I will still be buying both consoles. Just this time the Ps5 will be mostly for just exclusives. Idgaf about what they're censoring cuz I don't play those types of games. But the principle of it alone is off putting.

By now we have a good view of what to expect from each platform holder, it's all out there in the wild.
Buy (or not) a system that meet your needs knowing what it will bring, be it services, games or policies.
Every platform has them, it's where you come in as a consumer and stand up for what you believe is justified and/or right.
Without it there wouldn't be any real progression and it's probably why we have more than one platform/system, because no one company will ever "has it all".
Regardless there's still a great lof of discussion to be had here without the nonsense or childish behavior.

Kinda strange when in terms of putting out quality games Sony has been on fire, and usually they keep doing that untill the very end of the generation, witch is also happening with PS4 with still many exclusive games to come out.

At the end of the day you should play the games you enjoy, if Sony dosent do that for you anymore is ok.

The only thing that could make me abandon Sony is, No backwards capability on next gen.
Other than that....... It will be dificult to kept me away from a Second Horizon, Spiderman, a new God of War, a new Gran Turismo, a second The last of Us (or even a third). And im pretty sure Sony has more exclusives on its sleeves.

I can't speak for the OP and given that it's a company that's out to make profit I can understand this change.
At the same time, when the West is no longer viable like Japan is now who knows what they'll change that'll affect gamers?

GAF, I think after this gen I’m done with Sony. I’m not super angry at the company, or disgusted like I was with Microsoft last-gen, I just think that aside from their exclusives, they have nothing to offer me anymore.

Just to give a background, I’m a gamer for life. I probably had one or two hundred X-Box 360 games, but toward the end of the generation I was eager to switch. This was partly because I fell in love with games like Gran Turismo 5 and The Last of Us, partly because most of my friends and family had PS3s, and partly because I didn’t like Microsoft’s messaging to gamers and the way they treated indie devs. So I bought a beautiful Vita, got the PS4 soon after release, and exchanged it for a Pro when the time was right.

Now I think I’m done with Sony. It’s been good, but I feel like they are sending the same type of off-putting messages that Microsoft was sending at the end of the last generation. In particular, I don’t like how they are telling devs to censor the sexual content in their games now, and I’m thinking that for every skeleton of this type in their closet, there’s probably at least a handful more that haven’t come to light. I’m even fine with the angry narrative for TLOU2, but it also seems like an indication that the company is entering partisan nonsense, and I don’t want anything to do with that. So the writing is on the wall for me. I’m not a fan of this culture war stupidity, and I’m wondering if there’s a silent majority out there that feels the same.

I’m not sure what surprises the console makers have coming up for the next gen, but I’m thinking whatever they can offer, PC gaming will probably match and surpass it. It might mean I have to spend a bit more to join the fun, but so be it.

As a growingly discontent PS4 owner, Sony had better get their shit in gear for the PS5. A new-wave, 2019 style Sony console (ie. "ultra-progressive, SJW-focused, heavily censored American style console") for release in 2020 is an instant no sale for me. That would be just as bad as the intended DRM ridden, always-online, OG version of the Microsoft Xbone for 2013, if not worse.

Give me access to completely uncensored Japanese games in a console that's powerful, affordable, but is housed in an attractive plastic form factor, Sony. Or don't even bother to rock up for next-gen. The other two console manufacturers will happily eat your lunch and I'll be flipping the bill.

Meant PS4 consoles wise . About PS3 sales they miss almost a year or more of data as PS3 was still on a slightly better trajectory worldwide compared to the Xbox 360 and I do not think it stopped selling like a brick in 2013 while the Xbox figures are from the year after. Would have Sony shouted about gaining second place in 2014/2015 for the previous generation they actually wanted people to forget many things of? Maybe not, hence why it is essentially left in ambiguous terms by both manufacturers.

I know. Actually, it seems very likely the 360 remained in front due to the figures we know. 84 million sold until June 2014. Sony had sold 80 million Playstation 3 until November 2013 and only shipped 3.1 million in 2014 (although, weirdly enough, Wikipedia says 3.4)

Personally, I dont feel very strongly about either console for next gen. Theres just too much speculation right now and not enough concrete information. I can't make a decision based on what we have so far but I do know one thing. Eventually I will have both systems in some capacity (console or streaming to pc). I primarily game on PC, I bought a PS4 for exclusives, but at this point the only games I'm really looking forward to from them is a next gen God of War. HZD was a decent open world game, but it's not a system seller for me. I'm going to do next gen what I should have done this gen. Wait until the refresh and get the more powerful system or the slim at a discount. Then play all the exclusives at a discount as well.

I wouldn't boycott them for their "censorship" though.
