I didn't hate the reboot, I liked the director's other work (Bridesmaids was brilliant - it was weirdly just the right movie to watch when my wife got her MS diagnosis - we laughed our asses off and it really helped us to cope with what was a really shitty day - maybe our emotional state at that time was part of it but it was one of those perfect moments for us in a weirdly personal way) and the cast was fairly capable, but overall it would have been better to make a new franchise (which to be fair, the director mostly did up til that point) than shoehorn his schtick into Ghostbusters where it didn't entirely fit.
I'm skeptical about a new film, partly because I suspect some of what was in the original Ghostbusters just couldn't be done today, and I agree with #Phonepunk# about how they were special because of a time and place and cast chemistry - it won't be possible to match that without an incredible amount of luck, and this applies to all the nostalgia reboots (so yeah I basically agree with phonepunk on most of that). Also agree the director's son has no reason to be as good as his father, it seems a tired way to gain credibility with nerds like us. Hopefully we won't fall for it.
