No, some artist can truly evolve and make relevant contributions to their craft.
Look at God of War 2018.
Many musical artist can evolve and be relevant for their time.
But when you become stuck in the same ole same ole, then the only fans you're going to have a niche ones.
VERY few can. An insignificant amount.
Most can't.
GoW was a very unique circumstance. It was a series that many, including its creators, thought was becoming severely long in the tooth. Not only that, but it was criticized as a shallower rip of - you guessed it! DEVIL MAY CRY! Even the original creator admits this.
GoW 2018 was an attempt to not only revitalize what most considered a stagnant series - but to craft its own long awaited identity out of the effort.
This is not analogous to the DMC series at all. A series that has been dormant for 11 years now, was always considered not only the progenitor, but the
standard for the genre
even until this day, and people were honestly starting to think we would never get another game in the series again.
This is definitely
not a situation that warrants "revitalization" in the same sense.
