I don't use 8chan myself because most of the culture is unappealing (you can see a wide range of utterly degenerate porn boards under the popular boards, in addition to the Nazi stuff) but I approve of what it exists for. Decentralized communities doing what they want and (for the most part) leaving others alone.
Just because I don't like, say, vore, does not mean that people who do should not be able to communicate in a way that impacts no one else. They have their place, and I don't really begrudge them it because it is harmless to everyone else.

I, like most people, know 8chan by reputation more than anything else so when it gets reported that a big publisher did an AMA on 8chan I just think it's a bit of a PR blunder.
The reaction should just be "haha, you idiots didn't know what 8chan really is" and move on.
It's not unusual for people working with publishers to be a little out of touch and maybe they though 8chan was "cool" or some shit, I dunno.
