You need to read properly, your opinion is just the way you look on things, it doesn't mean other people share the shame view. And that's ok, so instead of working on your own issues don't make your own issues (of having a issue on other people different opinions) a thing.
Can you read what you posted please???

What is exciting here is that as per our thoughts last year, the small area occupied by the Zen core means that Sony can deliver a full eight cores, presumably supplemented by hyper-threading, for a 16 thread total. This ensures a massive generational leap over the lacklustre Jaguar technology found in the current generation of console hardware, allowing for higher frame-rates, more complex world simulation and more detail.
The understanding we have is that on the one hand, Navi is a new iteration of the existing AMD Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, which suggests a structural limit of 64 compute units or 4096 shaders. But on the other, certain leaks have suggested that Navi is geared more towards pixel-pushing as opposed to its immediate predecessor, the more compute-orientated Vega. I wouldn't underestimate the 'custom' side of the equation either: Sony has spent years on this project and with PS4 Pro, the firm has shown how it's prepared to innovate in areas that PC gaming is only now starting to get to grips with. Secret sauce? Quite possibly.

I’m glad it’s backwards compatible because I skipped ps4. Now I’ll be able to catch up on the exclusives I missed while waiting for more ps5 exclusives to come out.

because it will be $599 for the box.

That’s a lot of money. Don’t get me wrong, I hope it’s expensive to the point of prioritising power, but that converts to around £600 in the UK if you include a game.

On the one hand, it might not matter if they pitch it as a premium product whilst the PS4 chugs along. On the other, if they want to generate initial momentum, I still think it would need to be below 500.

3D-audio in hardware should be really good. The psycho-acoustic approach (like QSound) was always underrated and underutilized, it just had a requirement for the listener to be positioned at an equidistant point between the speakers for it to really work.

Putting it in hardware should be much more effective as not only will that allow it to be calibrated properly, but also to employ the positional effect dynamically.

Ok, well. It's a broad church etc.

By the way, you used the term 'bad faith'. That sets off my ResetEra alarm.

Point of order. Bad faith means you are misrepresenting your position. The closest internet equivalent would be concern trolling, where you are feigning one position to try and undermine another. It's not simply stating a contradictory opinion. So, for the sake of argument, if the chap is simply saying 'I think Sony are shit', that's not bad faith. That's just a contradictory opinion.

They use the term 'bad faith' as a banning reason all the time on ResetEra and IT MAKES NO SENSE.

Hmm..correct me if I'm wrong. Isnt this an article not only just confirming PS5 but also giving what to expect? How in heavens it turns to be a Xbox discussion? Unless of course it was meaning to start a console wars. Because if discussion about PS5 doesnt interest, I see no point in posting here. Would be wise to reserve this kind of post to a xbox rumor or a xbox next gen reveal.

I honestly expect next Xbox to be very similar in specs (if launching the same year). MS has to work with the same APU size limits and material prices, and diminishing returns will make 2-3tf differences barely noticeable.
Next gen differences will be all about exclusives/services and not so much about specs.

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
So if it ships say with a 1tb drive, thats about 700 / 750 gig useable storage space after o/s and system storage / reserves.

So about 6 to 7 80-100 gig games before its full and I'm back reliant on a slow external drive again or I'm constantly chopping and changing what's installed on the SSD.

Does that about sum it up?

3D audio was already used by Sony via Playstation Platinum Headset, but this time will be hardware acceleration (NAVI) instead of software.

Most people in this gen have external HDDs or already have 2TB SSD's though. Honestly if I do get the ps5, even as somebody that owns a ps4 with over 80 games I would only want to play 5 of them tops by next gen. Then there is the fact that Sony is moving away from the niche games I enjoy at an alarming rate so storage shouldn't be an issue when I really don't see myself buying more than 4 games on the Ps5 lifetime.

Ray Tracing ?
Wow. I mean there must be some catch there that's only visible to tech savy people, because Ray Tracing even in Nvidia cards wasn't that great performance wise. And AMD generally had been behind in GPU market compared to Nvidia.

But if true, holy shit I am melting imagining even more detailed lightning in Horizon Zero Dawn 2. (Horizon After Noon?)

Are we clear then? Are you gonna keep talking about that or can we discuss about "PS5"? I'm all for talking about PS5, if you don't mind.
I like my expectations tbh. 8K is a great thing, even if some doesn't consider a new one.

Lmao at all the RTX owners.
The PS5 will do the same thing for a fraction of the cost and will have awesome exclusives to show it off in.
I’m not sure if you understood what RTX means.

Any card can do it even nVidia old cards (AMD too)... the point is the performance is not enough without dedicated hardware... he’ll even with dedicated hardware the performance is only enough to 1080p.

Lol... look the specs seem ok, but you won’t be getting real ray tracing. Not for the price, anyway. You WILL be getting some ray traced things at low samples, but nothing like what most of you are expecting.

Eh? You quoted me. What’s with the passive aggressive ‘can we discuss PS5’. Last time I checked I was considering the price.

Christ, there are some sensitive souls about these days.

ray tracing for audio is the more interesting point here. 3d audio for games has mostly stagnated since the 90s

but expecting rtx like visuals seems like a lot of wishful thinking

Passive agressive? I'm not offendinng anyone here, just asking if we can moving foward to discuss the PS5 reveal. There is no agressiveness in my post and neither I intend to. Are you really ok?

As for the price...kinda strange this isn't the first thing that came in my mind. But from the spec and the history of pricing, I get the feeling it will be salty.

Current PSVR will be compatible with PS5 and will improve PS4 psvr games.

HUGE news.

So much for those of you that said Sony would ditch VR for PS5.

I had always intended to buy PSVR at some point this year anyway and that's part of the reason why I upgraded to a Pro recently but this news guarantees that I'll feel really good about buying PSVR this year. Looks like Sony really do intend to support the platform into next gen.

Doesn't this seem kind of uh..........insanely stupid to put the specs on the board over a year from launch (almost 2 if larches in november) when your competitor has more access to vendors and more money?

Nope! Because they didn't actually release the specs.

No, because these are not specs, just what architecture it will be using. The same architecture I am sure MS is adopting as well.

Well, as I said upthread, I personally hope it is expensive as it means they’re not half assing anything. But it depends how many they want to sell in the first year. Sony is at the point where people are so locked into their platform, they can say ‘people will buy one eventually’ when they drop the price.

They released what the have now and what they are aiming for, (although we don't know which specs on the list are which) which still gives the competition a blu-print for a minimal floor.

Something tells me that Sony can afford to do this because they know there isn't but so much that MS can change given this information.

RT on PS5 will be limited, very limited, don't expect titles running at full RT @ 4K or up. Surely it will help for better lighting and GI, for example.

Still a nice addition.

So what are the predictions on when we get the next drop of info? Official unveil PSX in December? Full spec leaks post E3?

I dunno if MS will do the same as Sony to reveal next box or wait until E3 to talk about too, but those specs are like to like.

I don't even have a PS4 and they want to launch the PS5. I miss the time when I had money for leisure! lol

Seems to be really cool tho.

I wonder if they'll just call it PlayStation due to the 25 anniversary coming up next year and Cerny kept calling it next-gen console.
It would make sense to just call the consoles PlayStation from here on out due to continuation and go with E.g. PlayStation (2027).
