A physical version of the game could then arrive, as happened with Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remastered.

They should do 1 to 9 remastered on one disk.

So glad that FF8 is finally getting a remaster though, played that loads as a kid and got all the gf minus tonberry King.

Also got all characters to lv 100 and remember after 100 hours gameplay the timer goes red.

Triple triad is also the best mini game in FF history.

I can understand not doing a physical of 7 due to the remake coming out soon but how about one for 9? That way if this is true we could at least have 8, 9, 10 together. FF11 of course just had to be an MMO and it's very unlikely they would want to revive it. Giving that game the number 11 was a mistake and the same goes for Dragon Quest and 10.

They should have done the same for FFVII when they released it for PS4. (The Remake doesn't count because it's a completely different game.)

Anyway i'm not sure if i want a physical version of VIII.I mean i have the original, complete,in perfect condition and it's also my least favorite FF.

IIRC this VIII re-release has more work put into it than the VII and IX re-releases (new character models, etc.) so that may be their reasoning.

FFXI is a fantastic game with a story that fits right into the FF metacanon. There is no reason it shouldn't bear the number XI (not that it matters anyway). They've already announced a new iteration of it, currently in development.

Since FF7 from PSX didn't receive any physical edition, Square added 2nd Bluray to the remake ;-)

Would be odd to do this and didn't do it for VII or IX.

You could probably fit all those games on one switch 16gb card.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I'd love to see physical versions of the rest of the Final Fantasy games that are digital only, if the rumor is true.

I already own 7 and 9 digitally (on multiple platforms) would be certainly buy a physical copy as well if the opportunity presented itself.

It would be cool if they could somehow work in the Pocketstation content that was available for the original Japanese release, it was a like a little Tamagotchi Chocobo minigame thing, maybe they could add it via Vita or something. I always saw it in strategy guides I used for doing runs but never got to check it out.

Chocobo World is in the PC version. Its really a glorified item generator as opposed to an actual fun minigame. VIII is already super easy as it is, don't need more items to refine into powerful magics and whatnot if ya ask me heh.

If they do this I hope they go with an old retro style playstation cover, probably only for the PS4 version mind you, but wouldn't it be really cool to have an Xbox or Switch version have a retro PSOne cover on your game lol

Interesting, I threw down for the Steam version a while ago but didn't notice that was included. I quit the game immediately after discovering it wasn't using the original music files, I will never play that version.

Speaking of chocobos, VIII has to be the game where they have the most subdued presence.

A player can go an entire game and not see one. Crazy.

I read that some things were mistranslated on PS1...

Old translation from what I can tell. I'd have to fire of my PS1 version to 100% confirm. But when I played it on PC the translation seemed the same

the amount of hours I spent on triple triad was insane. Couldn't wait to get home from high school when it came out on PS1 to play.

Never finished the side quest. But there was apparently some really rare cards you could get. I replayed FFVIII on Steam again when it came out. But I tried to steer clear of triple triad. Shit is addictive as hell.

I still have my 1997 ps1 ff7 game discs, as well as a PC version on CD. Even better, my fatty bc PS3 still plays em. Hell no, Im never giving those up.

For those who dont know: You could get all of the cards in disk 4 if you happened to miss any. You take the gate to the world map, get a chocobo, and head to a desert where the airship is. Some bitch in there will duel you and has access to all cards.

The one exception is that alien card which you can only get in that UFO sidequest.

Nice! When FFVIII releases on PS4 I'll make sure to do this. Heck I might even replay it on PS1 or PC now. Thanks for sharing this
