Does it appear to anyone else that there is an overlap between people who are against the second amendment and people who support taking up arms against their political adversaries?
Only if it's the "right" kind of enemy.

Look at this:

wBF6Vsm.png

They wanna wank over the "revolution" and "anarchy" words when they see things like that. If there was a third political party in U.S. named as Revolution Party a lot of them would just drop Democratics and jump in into that new party immediately.

Another thread on bashing White people...

Explain to me one more time why do Game Publishers line up and kiss the feet of SJW's when the same SJW's openly hate them and want them dead?.

I once said on era that I dont believe most of the people in there arent the real good guys they pretend to be but just follow the flock and join the echochamber. Yeah, they didnt like that. But look at these threads man.. It’s on a daily base.. like clockwork right? and its always the same shit, the same words and the same people. Shit drove me insane. Left the etcetera for what it was but then they start to appear in the game section more often as well. Broken records.
These people have thousands and thousands of messages in what.. 2 years? Thats not a good sign

1.5 years. Not even two. Some managed to have 40,000 within 7 months time.

how the fuck do you post 40,000 times / 7 months, that seems impossible
GAF is not devoid of empty one-sentence drive-bys of course, but most posters contribute a little bit of thought to their posts.

One-sentence (or even one-word) replies constitute the bulk of activity at ERA. You're lucky to get a paragraph on a particular topic. It makes all those pages upon pages of activity pretty worthless.

Michele

you.

I would've posted a lot more than just occasionally, if NeoGAF was more active than that. I do agree having 40k posts in just 7 months is really quick, and a little unhealthy depending on the situation.

Yeah, that’s crazy. I mean I post way too much and have for many years (since the late 90s) over many forums, but even at my heaviest I doubt I ever hit even 5,000 posts in a year across sites.

It’s easy to post a lot with a flexible job with no direct supervision, working from home a lots etc. even more so with smartphones and posting from the toilet, while waiting in public etc. But 40k in 7 months is insane.

no, they do not think for themselves, and despite all the Antifa Revolution rehetoric, they love authority too. they crave the power it has over others. they love their power figures, their Marvels and Disneys, their Pelosi and powerful Democratic Party. if they actually wanted to leave and go third party they already have that option. it is the desire to stay and be establishment shills for the corporate elite that run the US which fuels their ego.

it really just boils down to seeing your team win the big game. every day is a new super bowl, every hour a new game, let's see who can "get owned". meanwhile nothing of substance happens, no constructive ideas are offered up, it's nothing but a bunch of dogs pissing on each other to mark their territory.

TDS in full effect right here lol. cryingliberaleagle.gif up in this bitch.
We are approaching a great national decision about whether the American experiment will succeed or fail, whether this moment does what two world wars, a civil war and countless past misjudgments and missteps could not.

We will make it together, resist, offer a better alternative, embrace that alternative and the best leaders we can find...or succumb, let the inertia of some among us mark the end of what for two and half centuries was an idea so compelling it inspired the world.

His family is nice and supportive but he wants to ask Era if he should abandon them.

Typical replies:
“If they're supporting you financially, get as much money out of them as you can and then sever.”
“Sounds like you need them. Until you can actually be independent and live without them, then continue to take advantage of their support.”

aight which of us wants to make the 'should i abandon my family of trump supporters' thread

I'm eager to see someone creating a thread like that and actually asking a forum that exact same question :pie_roffles: .

Who knows. Maybe 2020 then?

Replies are absurd as expected either way.

Huh, my guess is that we have some sympathetic trolls over there who read GAF and are watching this thread. The timing of Barnabot Barnabot and Tesseract Tesseract suggesting this exact thread within a few hours of the actual thread being made is too coincidental.

Dude this thread is insane.

Things are only getting worse over time. There's a lot of mental illness on display there, and many of them really need to disconnect from their echo chamber before they end up sabotaging their relationships and family ties for "the cause." All this paranoia, mind-reading, triggering off the slightest cues. Get off Resetera, and into therapy if necessary.

Sad to see some folks I used to know, some I've met IRL, begin to contemplate cutting off their family over mainstream political views.

Yeah, it's crazy. I mean most of us have some shitty family members we cut off for things like being actual racists dropping n-words left and right (lots of that shit in my extended family on my mom's side), but it's crazy to cut people off just for supporting the other party.

Yeah, I think Trump sucks and hate that people I care about voted for him--it doesn't mean they're all terrible people or all bigots or anything. It just means they were/are willing to overlook that stuff as they want abortion banned or are panicked about illegal immigration, or believe the lies about bringing back coal mining and/or manufacturing jobs that are drying up in my home state etc. It disappoints me that people are easily duped on that stuff, or selfish enough to overlook things they admit trouble them about Trump to vote for him due to other issues--but it's not a reason to disown someone. There's a lot of holding your nose and voting for the lesser of two evils with our shitty two party system. Most anyone you vote for is going to have stances, beliefs etc. that you don't like.

If it's any consolation, this shows that the meltdown on GAF a few years ago was due to this crowd (since we're starting to see the same meltdown at ERA) and not due to anything inherent about the GAF community. Any 'safe space' they occupy in sufficient numbers will inevitably lead to... that.

Political views are complex and multi-faceted. It's not just about ignorance or overlooking bad things (and emotional appeals can be manipulative, too). It's always a good thing to keep yourself open to hearing out both sides of a debate, and that's a major benefit of GAF.

Yeah, for sure. At any rate, we're doing fine and we have a bunch of great people here.

Agree 100%. My comments were limited to family/friends I've debated these things with who made it clear that they disliked x, y and z about Trump but voted for him because of things like abortion, coal jobs or just not being able to vote for Hillary. It's definitely much more complicated than that and it's important to understand all sides of a debate. Even if you despise the other side of issues, you at least have to be informed of them and the reasons behind them if you ever want to effect change.

You are not wrong that the excuse is dislike for mainstream political views. But to me the real reason seems to be they joined a cult that only accepts fellow cult members as worthy of association (or worthy of a job, various freedoms, and in some cases life itself). Their cult just has much larger numbers than most thanks to social media and media infiltration (universities too) letting them spread their dogma much faster than going door to door on Saturday mornings. But fundamentally, no different than a cult. They are now even praising people who attack federal institutions as freedom fighters.

Sometimes I wonder how some people in REEE actually function in everyday life. If they are anything like their persona on REE there is no way they would make it in the real world. I bet they just keep their mouth shut and wish they could say all the shit they believe, and just go home and type stuff out like they're some bad ass, lmao.

Combo of those types and severely mentally ill shut ins that rarely go out in public due to social anxiety etc.

More classic modding on Era;

User gets a warn as just posting "Eat the rich" is a driveby.

Yet, how many times was that exact post repeated here?
