Easy as its so powerful it will make games look like Toy Story ... true story.

Disappointing to learn Kutaragi didn't say "PS2 like Toy Story", but who cares? He did say :

You can communicate to a new cybercity. This will be the ideal home server. Did you see the movie The Matrix? Same interface. Same concept. Starting from next year, you can jack into The Matrix!

The there's this cautionary tale to those expecting 8k 60fps next gen : "Kutaragi claims PS3 could run at 120 fps"

The point was that MS is just as prone to exaggeration when promoting upcoming products as Sony.

Ps3 did run 120fps gt4 iirc.
Anyway kuta_ken is awesome troll, any ceo appearing in giant bomb skit and ice bucket challenge is awesome. Totally outta the blue.

No fakey build-up or 'kind' words, like a certain 180° Phil...

they did? link?
Even without the led bar i doubt the ds4 battery life would be much better

Well they didnt officially said anything about next gen yet but they are clearly aware of the issue, i dont think they will commit the same mistake on next gen.
Sony plans to release an update for the PlayStation 4's DualShock controller that will help cure its low battery life.
as I've said, i don't think a light bar is responsible for the piss poor battery

The firmware to dim the ps4 controller has been out for years already, am i missing something?

Besides that light doesnt drain tht much battery its just known tht Sony this time around chose a shitty battery.
Of course this update was released years ago (pfff omg) my point was Sony was aware of the battery problem and tryed to lower that, and it did made a difference but still... i dont think we will see another beam in the future.

"pffft omg" where they do that at? Anyway better battery, thats the solution and problem solved. Put a 2000 mah u in there. If a company is going to put lights and additions to the controller they need to out a battery that can handle it.

I dont know, maybe somewhere else than where your from.

A smartphone batterie on a controller... lol

The original ds4 has a 1000 mah equivalent lol so hardy har har yeah. You get the point. thy just need to add something stronger. 2000 were what ppl were adding on their own and switching out if you didnt know.

And word, definitely not where im from lol

You the man though we see you 👀👀

Just my two cents; PS5 will be equipped with a 14-15TF GPU.
The thought that they would de-value all of their PC GPUs to put an astonishingly amazing GPU into a console at $300-$400 would be quite the thought. Beyond logic and reason with this estimate, fella.

That isn't a convincing argument against it, not that i think we'll see 15tf consoles

While we are discussing TFLOPS, Compute Units, Die Size, I have a few questions about next gen console Hi-Fidelity graphics: Will the next gen consoles finally remove bottlenecks or limitations on the following

1) Foliage: For example, the trees in Gran Turismo Sport, or any game in general. Instead of looking like a transparent cardboard cut out with a bitmap or image of leaves and a trunk, will it actually be fully rendered? On top of that, instead of appearing like a static object, it has dynamic motion with many secondary, tertiary animations: Leaves blowing in the wind, falling off, flexing, reflecting the sun light, dew drops or rain falling off from it? Also Will grass, shrubs, flowers, trees also do the same in not hog up so much CPU and GPU processing along with hogging up RAM?

2)Water: We talk about Real Time Ray Tracing but what about real time fluid motion and response? For example in uncharted, when drake goes in the water his clothes get wet but the actual splash animation and the ripple effect seems prebaked. There are different types of water appearence: Ocean/Sea Water with waves hitting cliffs, fresh water etc. Plus how water reflects light as well. Will the CPU and GPU be powerful to do real time water effects instead of hogging up the CPU and GPU and RAM?

3) Dynamic Cinematic Motion Uncharted series and Last of Us are good examples of how characters move in a fluid realistic fashion instead of looking like manikins with stiff movements. The simple act of walking and talking still looks outdated in most games. Will the new Ryzen zen 2 CPU and Navi RDNA GPU be able to handle lifelike cinematic organic movements of living creatures?

This on top of Ray Tracing with 60fps 4K Resolution and online play :messenger_tongue::messenger_beaming:

..sooo not intervening, and letting a market find it's own level is "manipulation" now ? While printing trillions of dollars isn't..

The yuan is not freely traded and the government limits its movement against the US dollar, "letting market find it" my arse.
PBOC (People's Bank of China) unlike central banks of developed countries, isn't independent (on top of it).

They still will eat costs but not that much.
Sony have said two things that can be attributed to price.

1. The price will be attractive despite it being a powerhouse. ~Cerny

2. It’s aimed at hardcore gamers who obsess over the latest features. ~Yoshida
You expect him to say bang for the buck ?

you should know that every company praise its products even if it's garbage, OUYA for example ... lol the HYPE was insane.

What are you reading? Where is the praise?
Are you quoting the wrong person?

Edit: Just read bhunachickens comment. They understood what was written.

For once I'm quite looking forward to the backwards compatibility of the next generation.

There's some titles I've not played in years that I'd like to revisit. It will be interesting to see what - if any - automatic enhancements will be available.

If they can be transferred to SSD then that's even better.

Germany willing to spend over $599.

The well-known website CHIP.de has offered its German-speaking audience the opportunity to state what would be the most money they would be willing to cough up for a PlayStation 5. At the time of writing, CHIP’s survey had over 5,800 participants, with the €600 figure apparently being the magic number. It appears some hopeful types have voted for €100, whereas the more realistic PS5 price observers seem to have plumped for between €400 and €600 (~US$448 and US$672).

I am willing to spend over $1000 New Zealand dollars if it meant I get a quality premium console with brilliant fit and finish, high quality cooling components that is silent enough for me to enjoy my games without headphones.

I mean...

I will gladly pay whatever it cost to have the security (and tranquility) of knowing that I won't have to make any concessions, and will be able to enjoy the next generation to its fullest without worries, without years of "tablet CPU holding back", without not buying day one bcs I need to check the trade offs...

I just want a full fledge generation 😭

Makes sense. Phones have pushed what an acceptable price is for a piece of hardware. Also looking back whilst the PS3 was Sony's worst selling console, year by year it was still selling on par or slightly more even than the much cheaper 360 so it's not like 600 its a deathblow to your console. I assume both MS & Sony will want to know how much the competition are going to charge and adapt their price but I'm betting 500-600 is their ideal to actually not take too much of a loss.
