Most of the companies I've worked for that have had this would just do it via an hour long video you had a deadline to watch by. Most people would open the video, drag the slider to the end in 2 seconds and be done with it instantly.

I don’t know the details of the discord comment but on its face it reads like conservative paranoia even though it could be taken as a reductio of all the hate journalists like Jesse Singal has been getting for covering detransitioners and others who eventually changed their mind about transitioning. There should be room for some misunderstanding to cut through some of the straw men but social media seems to enable the most unhinged people who prefer harassment over rational engagement.

Most of the SJW mob aren't going to buy the game anyway because the fact that content was in there to begin with mean that the devs is already branded on the "worse than hitler tier". but about the game, it wasn’t on my radar and still isn’t on it, the drama around it is a bit overblown though, I don’t condone what the devs said but it seems like everyone has to walk on egg shells around sjw’s and people are going to be so afraid to say something, even in their comfort zones without someone creeping and screenshotting it.

Developers need to finally learn that these outrage mongers are not making this world a better place, they are sad f*cks who are hopelessly addicted to the dopamine hit they get when they can take out their digital pitchforks and watch yet another game creator bow to their irrational whims.
The REEtards who screeched until the developer saw fit to back down aren't interested in an apology or in buying their game. These people aren't in it because of their passion for video games, but because they just like to see others grovel in front of their feet. Heck, most of them aren't even concerned themselves, but are outraged on behalf of other imaginary people they dredge up from the bottom of their silly reductive identitarian fantasy.
In the end nothing good came out of all of this, the outrage mongers won't be appeased, and the homo- or transphobes of this world will only feel reinforced in their views. I have more contempt towards every member of the game team for backing down to the outrage mob than the ones who were outraged in the first place. My daughter’s young friends are claiming to be the opposite sex and for something that’s supposed to be rare, it happens more and more frequently.
Half of my oldest daughter’s friends, girls I have know of since they were little, are now lesbians. That is not an exaggeration. One of them is getting in-vitro fertilization with her “wife”.

Toleration is the allowing or permitting, of an action, idea, object, or person which one dislikes or disagrees with.
We can define what is acceptable in our society so long as both of us agree with the definitions. Compromise is a BIG part of that. Who always seems to be the one to end up compromising? What is the next depravity that I will have to look at and accept, at the point of a gun, when it becomes law? One can't even make a joke at the other direction's expense without a wild screech from on high.

Even if it were true that your anecdotes amount to a social contagion (there may be some degree of performativity to being e.g. nonbinary or questioning) where exactly is the harm? I heard the arguments about a slippery slope against accepting gay people (that it will erode families, destroy the social fabric, lead to the acceptance of bestiality, incest, etc) when I first got on the internet in the 90s and I don’t think time has been kind to those arguments
