It is just shocking is all. I fully intended, despite ranting in this thread a bit, to follow the rules there and just do my best to stay out of threads that just weren't for me. I was never disrespectful or rude or dismissive of anyone. Even in my rant here I feel like all I ever was was frustrated that every thread turned into a fight. It's just tiring.

You don't want murmurs around your game. I know the core audience of Ion Fury don't care about this stuff and they're right. This is a non-issue, don't think I'm defending the initial controversy because I thought it was very stupid. I think apologizing was sort of inevitable, patching out the game was idiotic and maybe they could have taken a stand and said that enough is enough. But they didn't, but the thing is the removed content was so minor and inconsequential that I don't have an issue here. I just want this whole shit ordeal to go away.
And my point about Vavra is that thankfully he largely operated outside the system. He wasn't american, he was for all intents and purposes his own boss and the whole controversy around his game was somehow even more stupid than this one. Voidpoint didn't have a choice here and 3D Realms probably also didn't enjoy the same freedom Vavra did.

You know, this is gonna sound awful to say, but every time I read this thread, whenever a suicide happens or a mass shooting happens and people go "I don't understand how people could be pushed to do something like this" it really starts to make sense as to why people are hurting so deeply in today's times. Bullying is kind of a stigma attached to older times, kids in high school getting wedgies and stuffed in lockers, but I swear to you bullying is more prevalent today than it ever has been, and it's adults doing it as much as kids.
I know we all here like to mock and make fun of that website, but how many people out there are legitimately hurting and getting depressed or slowly building up anger because they are being picked on, ridiculed, and mobbed by an entire website of psychopaths?

I think it's a lot of people that were bullied now having the opportunity to punch down on someone else through the internet. You used to have your nerd hobbies as an escape but now so many of them have grouped in one place via those nerd escapes with anominity/internet and no repercussions that they get to dish it out to other people. You could probably write pages analysing it in more depth than that.

If it makes you feel any better, while I never got permabanned on any site( as I have 0 interest in arguing/trolling in forums) , I've only been banned twice, once 15 years ago and in that rat hole for disagreeing with several "all men are thrash" comments. While I have 0 interest in arguing I'll speak up against hate.
They should just save people the hassle and have a questionnaire when joining:

Same here, been on forums since about 1998, in all that time there was only one forum that gave me a ban (three in fact), but that's becuse one mod took a dislike to me and they were all from him. When he left I never got any more bans and I was there for over ten years.

I was looking at GAF's statistics and comparing them to ERA's, not sure if anybody has noticed this before - or it may be a once off. However, while the numbers on ERA are much higher, 2,465 of them are from registered members - with only double the amount as guests; 4234. Now GAF has 196 members online currently, but with 1254 guests. That's an 6.3x increase of guests on GAF compared to 1.5x of ERA.
What this tells me, while ERA is quite popular still - the only people really taking their discussion seriously are their own members. I remember GAF in the good times had much higher lurker numbers.

I have a GameFAQs account that is over 18 years old that I was a mod on for like two years so I'm not some troublemaker.
If I did get permabanned just for ranting here that's life I guess. Just a shame is all.
I did appeal on the basis of having a clean history but I'm not holding out much hope they are going to overturn it if the reason I'm banned is posting in this thread.
