I agree with you. If people started saving in October this year of $50USD/month, you would easily have $600 within the range of release. And this is speaking of People who at least have a job. I'll gladly pay the $600+. Don't forget that tax though! NY tax alone will add an extra $50 to the total cost.

I'm going to wait and see with the custom SSDs in the mix said to reduce RAM needs. 32GB for example would probably be 75% more cost and require 16 chips in clam shell mode at launch increasing motherboard cost/complexity.

If you consider the bandwidth of these systems likely to be around 600GB/s (probably less) that's 10GB/s of usable memory per frame on a 60FPS game and 20GB/s on a 30FPS game. And no game is going to use their bw to read the entire pool like that every second so anything more than 20GB total is probably going to be a waste, especially with way better streaming on SSD.

I am one of the few that thinks that even 599$ is not too high. This has been taken as gospel, but its just really a wrong extrapolation of what happened with PS3. PS3 was more expensive with less performance than the competition, thats not going to fly in any situation or at any price point.

With the right performance, it would sell like hotcakes even @599$. Granted, that price would have to be lowered in about a year or two, but thats totally doable with 5nm/3nm coming up.

Agreed. Everyone is comparing to the 2013 release. There was a $499 option too at 20GB.

Sony imo was able to regain the trust of the Consumers with great games this generation. It will be interesting to see how they deliver the price, but knowing that the Consumer will continue to get great games like they did this gen, I'm sure many will dive in no issue.

Single core turbo with no GPU load tho, and I don't see the clock speeds in the reddit post the article cites, only speculation in the comments?

Well past time for AMD to ship 7nm on mobile CPUs and APUs though, should have capitalized on Intel being so late on 10

16gb should be fine. I've read PC comparisons with 8 vs 16 GB ram with a 6gb video card and it was pretty much a wash in the fps numbers. More is always nice but 16 won't cripple the new consoles with all the other stuff they've added.

To my understanding developers never load entire game into RAM, but just stream one level for example. It would be funny if developers would want to load entire 100GB at once :D. 13GB just for streaming should be more than enough.

Well I don't have idea what these companies have in mind or what ace they're gonna play, but thinking of consoles having just double the amount of RAM over the previous generation and be on the market for the next 7 years makes me laugh, I read many times in the past before PS4/Xone that 8GB of RAM was too much and thanks God Sony/Microsoft didn't listen to it, so I hope for the same. Funny is they are pushing about 8k and you people think 16GB is enough, enough for what? Today's games? Sure, but I expect that hellblade2 running in real time with perfect texture now, and it's hard to believe they gonna achieve that with poor 16GB of RAM @ whatever speed

I have been unemployed/student for last 10 years with only few months of work/year or not even that.

So most years my income is 600-900€/month, of which after rent+food I'm kind of broke. Lets say under 10000€/year income with 8500-9000€ into bills+food.

And I have been able to save for ps5, as I started it few years after ps4 release.

So if poor bastard like me can do it, anybody(western) can do it.

Trick is to not to waste money on alcohol and other shit. Just few hobbies and games

600$ would turn into 650-700€, which is maybe 700-800$

So kind of too much for many, 500-550€ would be more acceptable for those that arent HC gamers

There are also so many opportunities to make money online now compared to 2013. I make $30-40/month in amazon gift cards just from running my bot for 2 minutes every morning.

No one should be using their hard-earned money for gaming.

Why are we talking about budgeting and income?
Just use sites that give you amazon gift cards for doing little gigs. I make $30-40/month off amazon gift cards for running a bot for 2 minutes every day.

No one should be spending money from their real job for games. I paid $40 MGS V and The Witcher 3 using my credit card and I already feel disgusted with myself.

I mean, everyone is different, but most adults I know think paying money for games is a waste of money. I paid $40 + tax for MGS V and The Witcher 3 once and I still feel disgusted about that purchase. That's $40 + tax I could've invested into SWPPX.

My PS4 slim and the other 15+ games I have for it have been bought with free amazon gift cards. That's hundreds of dollars I saved.

Guys wanna think Sony is gonna have the faster ssd by 4 xs Xbox lol, and also have a faster gpu with less cus . Playstation has an incentive to be cheap and cheerful .. make sure they transition over their users ... xbox knows this so has to go with 2 sku because they need to be cheaper and be more powerful.

It's not just that, but whatever power advantage there will be, it'll only be around a 10% difference. Unless console gamers are given the option to play on an uncapped, unlocked framerate, that difference won't be that noticeable.

Xbox SX SSD is going to be used better than anything on PC right now because it's a closed box & the SSD is the standard , so yes it's going to be special & used a virtual RAM , basically no loading in some cases but as far as the hardware go the SSD in Xbox SX will be run of the mill while PS5 SSD is going to be cutting edge.


This could be 2X faster than Xbox SX SSD or it can be 5X faster .

Cant stand the fact that I have way better sources than that and we already know Xbox has the bigger chip lol. Also your sources also had no idea about 12 navi tflop until Windows central broke the story. You gonna worry yourself all thru the holidays imagining every which way possible that ps5 is more powerful . Good luck buddy, I know im not losing sleep over it

I don't think anyone can say that it won't be a noticeable difference until after the devs actually push the limits of both consoles because some of the differences in the hardware & API might make a bigger difference than what the GPU specs show.

Well im not making imaginary shit up, i want Xbox to have power crown and alot of xbox fans wanted that after what happened in 2013. If Sony matches what xbox has tho, its a win for lockhart. I think pricetag will be indicative of specs. The ability to go 2 sku approach insured them to go after a 2080ti gpu spec or close to it.
