REMEMBER REACH l OT

So nice to finally play one of the later Halos on PC! It was unreal being able to press F12 to capture screenshots in a Halo game lol. I had the original on 360, but it's nice playing it again here, on PC, free online, and at 60fps! I suppose I didn't do too bad, but could improve more. Reach is one of the multiplayer greats for sure.

Have fun man. I'm excited for when 2 and 3 come out for you. I wish I could replay these games for the first time again. I think I've played more Halo than every other game combined in my lifetime. CE was great, but 2 and 3's MP took over my life for years and years.

Thanks man! Yeah, definitely I got why Xbox fans could not stop talking about the franchise. It must have been even crazier to see Halo evolution in a time were console FPS multiplayer was at its infancy! I got curious and saw some videos about Halo 2 and 3. Very impressive stuff, specially forge and the ability to record and share videos, maps, etc.

I hate how we can no longer upgrade Noble Six's armor through the SP
Some people are wrong, we already know this. Most people though remember when Halo was actually good and not just decent with a string of asterisks.

Wait what?? Can you not customize your single player armor?

I’d like to know what’s missing as well, been forever since I played original Reach. I don’t remember SP customization

I've seldom agreed more with a video review than this one. Everything original in Reach on PC is great and the game is stable as long as you limit yourself to 60fps, but everything else 343 touched made the game worse. From the single player menu and unlock system to seemingly missing obvious shit like kb/m players only having full speed as a movement option, breaking the crouch function. Five seconds of play testing would have made that obvious. The sound mixing and quality is not good, and there is no way to fix it without digging through the files.

Between this and the DF video explaining why the game can look so jumpy/jittery at times, and why the AO looks almost like cell shading, I'm even more impressed by 343's ability to not only make mediocre new games with unlimited resources, but also shit up older games too. How did this take so long to release? I can't wait to see what they've slapped together with $500,000,000.00 for Halo Infinite.

Aaaand done. Finally solo’d Legendary.

nightfall probably gave me the most trouble. Ive always sucked at sniping and the officer/ultra elites needing two-three headshots was a pain in the ass.

exodus was probably the easiest. Brutes are very susceptible to needlers/NR’s and you can steal a wraith in the final act of the level for extra cheese. (Though the dame can be said anout new alexandria, especially if you know the button tricks for things like the dj brute and pelican.

Finally beat the game for the first time and man even though you know what is going to happen it is still super sad. Especially the last "mission". Great game, played it on a Xbox One X and the only issue I had with it is weird button input lag. I would try to switch weapons sometimes and it just seemed like I had to press the Y button twice or three times sometimes in order for the weapon to switch. Also would sometimes shoot a weapon more times then I wanted (sniper rifle). But all in all it was a great ride and I should have played it back on the 360.

Absolutely fucking loving this. But I keep getting crashes from the UE front-end, which is weird. I'm sure it'll be patched though.

Keep it up 343!

343 gonna be 343. I swear, as far as releasing a complete package that wasn't buggy, 343's high point was Halo 4 and it has been downhill since. They have needed new management for like forever and a day. For some odd reason, all the people who sign off on these buggy and half baked releases and give them the green light, get to keep their jobs. All that said, I still love Halo Reach.

I remember being a GOD playing Reach online on xbox360 and now with Kb+mouse can't kill shit lol. I'm even getting frustrated of leaving so many people without shield and being incapable of finishing them with a headshot.

I don't have MCC on PC (I have it for xbox) so I can't comment on PC specific issues, but I don't understand why 343 can't just leave the games as they were instead of changing playlists and other features. The games were great because of what they were and the settings they were left with. 343 still doesn't understand that.

After basically being unplayable at launch, years later they finally "fixed" it and then they kept fucking with game settings and playlist selections. It ruined some small communities like Snipers/Swat players. Now I go onto Reach for the first time since way back and I see ranked MLG and ranked Invasion as the competitive playlists? Wut. I'm sure the game settings aren't fucked up...

343, just keep the games as they were and make sure they run well. I can't be arsed to play a worse version of the games I loved.

I had the most trouble with the last mission killing all the brutes for the pelican landing. Had no ammo and couldn't find much in the buildings. Also just wanted to be done with the game by then so that wasn't helping.

I would prefer it if they let you choose TU or not for reach. It was cool at first but getting rid of bloom killed reach for me.

The TU lessened the randomness of the DMR. Before the TU you could pace your shots perfectly to be accurate and still lose out to people who spammed. And if you spammed it was a crap shoot. I just like less randomness in my shooters.

You could argue that it changed the way the game played though, as the DMR became more accurate at range meaning you could hold power spots more easily and consistently. Tbh I liked both but found that in arena I wasn't as frustrated, since my shots more often went where I aimed.

I would mentally mess up sometimes if I was taking more damage then I thought I should be if the other guy was spamming. But paced shots almost always let me out gun in an even 1v1.The halo 3 br was way more random and even that could be controlled by leading your shots.

I've seen the videos explaining why bloom sucks. But I had almost a 3 k/d in Reach and a lot of that was because of bloom.

So is it like “a thing” that people set up their controller or KB/M (with a script or something) to just move and spam attack during grifball matches to AFL grind for cosmetics? Or am I just getting unlucky in matchmaking

Needlers are your best friend against brutes. Takes about five and BAM, inst-kill even on legendary.

Down to 16k.

halo still dead

that 343 magic....

Infinite will stil be a steaming pile of shit like 4 and 5.

To be fair, you picked a Wednesday morning for that 16k number.

For a Saturday afternoon, there are currently 40k players and the high for today was 45k. Reach is currently the 14th most played game on Steam. Then you have all the people playing on the same servers who bought it directly from MS or are playing via Gamepass PC. Not to shabby for only 1/6th of the complete package. Since a new Halo game will release every two months, I could see the numbers staying high and the community growing. The Halo mod community is already doing some amazing things.

BTW, for those who want to rank up fast and earn armor, it's double XP weekend for MCC!

It is so sad and emotional even from the opening as we know going in it's not going to end well for Noble Team, but Lone Wolf is especially intense and emotional. It's not sad in a mushy, sentimental way, it's stoic just like a Spartan.

It's also sad to hear about the input lag.

Damn I love this game, I wish I would stay out of this topic because it makes me want to play it for the millionth time, but I'm trying to hold out until a bit before Infinite and play through ALL the Halo games again in Chronological order and then slide right into Infinite.

It's amazing what a revival a game goin' on a decade can pull of. I can't stop playing Invasion. I need it in Halo Infinite dammit!! WITH Elites. I always liked how Halo Reach had a discernible difference between the Spartans and Elites, though it could make normal multiplayer harder to balance.

Well, i think i'm going to quit and hold off for another few months until some of these issues get fixed. I can't believe just how bad the audio is. Everything, except for music and vo , sounds like you're underwater. I can't even hear gunfire a lot of the time. You would think after the absolute shit show that was the MCC originally, they'd really make sure to make Reach as perfect as possible, but this is so disappointing. I should have seen it coming. The way they' were hyping up "60 frames! 60 frames.." as if people with high refresh rate monitors give two shits about 60 frames should have told me how awful this port was going to be. Mouse input feels laggy, even relative to other 60 fps vsync'd games, and you can't crouch while moving. Why?

This is why I hate PC, why can’t you just play it as the developers intended? Nevermind all the cheating and other shit that comes in.
When was flexibility a bad thing? You’re not forced to play it in third person, it’s just a nice add on to enjoy Reach:)

When they start using those mods in multiplayer and whatnot it gives an inherent advantage to them, and a disadvantage to those who don’t use them.

Like treasure peek in Sea of Theives. You can’t corner peek on Halo but with this 3rd person mod it makes it viable.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t give a shit what anyone does in their single player game. If they want to mod it so every hit does max damage and they can’t die, that’s on them.
They are free to ruin (or enhance) their own experiences, but they always seem to carry the hacks over to multiplayer where they actively ruin others experiences.

People that use mods that give any sort of advantage in MP games are turds. Even mods that change as little as reducing fog or improve control response still give you an advantage and is cheating.

I love modding for the purpose of getting more out of my games, often taking games and changing so much that the game is almost unrecognizable. I can't stand the people that have created the mindset that modding = cheating by making shitty aim-bot mods, stat buff mods, etc, solely for the purpose of being a cheat in multiplayer. What's the point of winning if you had to use a crutch to do so? It doesn't even make sense.

You can't use those mods in multiplayer, you have to launch the game with anti-cheat disabled which is the only way to play with mods.

Have they said anything at all about a potential patch? My buddy literally has ZERO audio like 90% of the time we play this game. We're all waiting to start the campaign together until they fix it.

Enjoying the campaign, but I'll be damned if I remember anything of this game. For some reason it's a blank, more so than any other Halo game (I've finished all campaigns in series within a few weeks of release.) I actually looked up my 360 achievements to make sure I did beat it. No idea why I don't remember it.
