With Sony Interactive Entertainment now embracing PC with titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Dreams, plus potentially The Last of Us Part II, they now are listing Windows PC on their website PlayStation.com!

This could mean that the PlayStation giant isn’t holding back at all and is fully bringing their titles that are “exclusives” to more than just their console.

Godfall (minute of gameplay), Counterplay Games’ debut PS5 title is out this Holiday, but that’s not the strange part to this listing. Alongside PS5 is PC, which isn’t something you’d expect from a company that is quite proud of their exclusives. Sony included it while games like Flow, Flower, Journey, Beyond Two Souls, Detroit: Become Human, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Guns Up!, and several others (Jesus Sony has a lot of IPs on PC) all don’t mention PC on the PlayStation website.

Microsoft is releasing all Xbox Game Studios titles on PC and some even on Nintendo Switch, hopefully Sony can follow in their footsteps. Sony Music (Unties + original studio) and Sony Pictures (Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and Animax Games) both have gaming divisions and their titles are multiplatform (like Tiny Metal and Deemo under Sony Music Entertainment plus Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming VR and Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son from Sony Pictures Entertainment) so it was only about time Sony Corp forced the final branch with developers to not do exclusives.

Does this potentially change your mind about PS5 if games will be heading to PC?

Does this potentially change your mind about PS5 if games will be heading to PC?

This question is the core... it makes your attention on the topic, the concern, seem less than genuine IMHO. Like someone already told me I may be off base, so I will entertain the question.

We have had tons of threads talking about some Sony PS game going to PC too, maybe on a PC PSN Store, so not sure why this thread should persuade people that still stuck with their PS5 preference honestly. This thread does not really add anything new under the surface.

Also, does this mean all first party games are day and date also available on PC? Just some of them? Only some and after an 8-12 months delay or longer?
This thread seem to present the same data as before with the same unanswered questions behind it and asks people again if this may finally affect their PS5 purchasing habits. You can see how this may seem odd at best and F.U.D. like at worst?

Really great news if Sony & MS are porting their stuff to the pc.

Realistically there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for me buy a console next gen that doesn't have a Nintendo logo on it.
If both consoles do it, then honestly it means Nintendo is next.

They already went mobile, and even adopted paid online, they'll follow what MS/Sony does and go PC in due time.

It's almost over guys. If this move picks up sales, then Sony's heads might try to sell most games near launch on PC, people might start moving on that platform, Playstation might start to lose sales and then quit devoleping those games. Then we would be left with just a few AAA games form MS and Sony, Nintendo games, few third party AAA games and few Indie gems, taking us closer to that feard future of almost no AAA single players, everything online, all multyplayer games. Sony is really a tech boundaries pusher in game development, their best works usually introduce new bells and whistles that inspire other developers(and vice versa) , and, in the last years, even core gameplay mechanics are getting better and better, losing them would not give a good sign to other developers. Hope that they don't start selling exclusives before 2 years from launch, those games drag people to platforms and then, indirectly, let platforms sell more third party games, like COD or FIFA, which I'll both buy this year, just to prepare for the no single player future. (I don't play online since CS:source, Halo CE on pc and Killzone 2)

(BTW, I'm a extremely die-hard Sony fan saying "IT'S DOOMED". More doomed than Nintendo, which one day will have to stop selling games, due to the world having had come to an end, and Nintendo being the only people alive left, 'cause no one can stop Nintendo from making great games ;) Sorry, I'm desperate.)

Third party game that was announced for PS5 + PC from start.
WTF is this supposed to have to do with Sony exclusives?
If you had even the least bit of observational capability you would realize that Sony has never included other platforms as a release platform on their website including PC, now they are.

Coinciding with the timing of Detroit, Death Stranding, the Horizon and Dreams rumors it seems pretty clear where all of this is headed. I mean you can keep burying your head in the sand though, it won't change the destination.

I'm not burying the head in the sand. I know about the PC ports, and have referred to them myself. They already publicly told people to expect PC ports to be released alongside the console releases for some MP based games. In case you haven't noticed yourself.

Using a third party game that was never exclusive to extrapolate concern for all first party exclusives, though, is a stretch.

I fear it might be too much to ask from you, but try to be more respectful next time.

I thought people bought PC for 'the best graphics'! LOL

The beauty of PC is that you can play on the platform for whatever reason you want.

It's not a platform that tells you when and how you can play your games. If you want to play the newest game with the shiniest graphics and you have the hardware to pull it off, you can do that. If you want to play some old obscure game for nostalgia purposes, you can do that too and you're not at the mercy of backwards compatibility. If you want to play Ace Combat 7 with the most ridiculous hardware setup imaginable you can do that too:

Even online games that devs shut down can and are still played to this day. As an example:

This is why there's been such a backlash against Microsoft's UWP, it takes all those possibilities away from PC gamers and in a lot of cases reduces it to a console like platform where all you can do at best is play the same shit but with better graphics.

Situations i'm okay with:

Sony doesn't release their game on pc and i have to buy a ps5

Sony release their games on pc after 2-3 years and i have to buy a ps5 because i can't wait 3 years to play some games.

Sony release their games at launch or after 2-3 months on pc with a previous announcement and i don't need a ps5 at all.

Situations i'm not okay with:

Sony release their games on pc after 2-3 months without even an announcement.

This is realistically what most people is thinking right now (except people who hate pc gaming and has zero alternative)

Sony doesn't list PC on their site for 3rd party games: Sony is lying to us! They don't want us to know that the game is available on PC too! ARROGANT SONY!

Sony lists a 3rd party developed and published game as being available on PC too: All Sony games are coming to PC day one! Ha Ha! the PS5 is a useless doorstop! SONY IS DOOMED!

This is where I'm at.

They just need to be clear with their strategy going forward so I know where I stand so I can decide whether I want/need a ps5 or not.

If they are not clear then I won't hide my displeasure.

90% of probability that we are gonna get fuck in the ass by sony this time.

Microsoft already opened a passage to my sphincter, sony is gonna destroy the little anal verginity i have left...

I may finally just use the money I’d have spent on a PS5 and build a PC. It’s a loser for them, because it devalues the platform and increases the competition in the pool. Seems like every other generation, Sony puts its head in its ass.

They will definitively need to have a stance on this, will they release day 1 next gen games like the sequels for Horizon, The Last of Us God of War and Spiderman?

Because clearly makes little sense spend 500$ on a closed platform with few games compared to a gaming Windows PC.

Good for PC gamers, and doesn't really matter for console gamers.

When Microsoft did this, some people kept saying that there wasn't any reason to buy an Xbox now, since they would play it on their PC and then buy a PS5. I just think that there aren't that many people that have a decent PC AND at the same time a console, and use them equally as much. Neither for Sony or Microsoft do I expect a dent in their sales due to the release of their games on PC. Wonder if Sony is going to release something similar as Gamepass Ultimate this year. It makes sense to give gamers the possibility to Play Anywhere, and have shared saved games.

Not everyone sees the appeal of PC Gaming, to some the negatives outweigh the positives.

The plain truth is that PC requires more attention and maintenance than console, and simplicity and ease of use is a draw.

As to what Sony are doing specifically, who knows yet. Maybe they are angling to be Epic's new best friend, and in return for feeding some of their titles to their storefront as timed exclusives they can quid-pro-quo similar timed exclusive deals for Epic titles on console?

See, this type of thing is part of my skepticism over MS' chances going forward when its potentially impinging on several business fronts simultaneously, it practically begs their competitors to make strategic alliances in order to contain their ambitions.

I built a new PC back in October 2019. The minute I screwed on the protective glass, I've never once went back inside again. Zero, I mean zero times. I booted the first time to install Windows 10, and everything worked right after.

The only update I did was download new drivers.

Compared to my PS4 or even older consoles like Gamecube, the maintenance is the same.

In terms of simplicity, if I want to play a game it takes only 5 seconds to just click and launch. Hell, having everything on an SSD, I technically load games faster than my PS4 ever did.

congrats on buying a brand new PC. The difficult is usually in playing on an older system get back to us in 5-10 years when your drivers are busted and you need the next Windows but can’t upgrade to it until you upgrade your hardware.

As a former PC only gamer who recently made the change to consoles I’m just laughing at this whole thing.

Also I think this is a lot of counting chickens before they hatch. If u think ur gonna play Bloodborne on PC soon well u might end up waiting a few years or indefinitely. Bringing some games over is obviously not bringing all gAmes over
