it’s not as good as the first time around but I’m still enjoying it a lot. I’m experimenting with wait mode in battle since I didn’t really use it in my first play through when it first came out.

Probably going to just skim through this time, as opposed to doing every little thing like I did before.

I’m hoping the story will be a little easier to follow now that I have somewhat of an understanding of where it’s going.

If you are referring to the four optional bosses that grant you the four extra classes, those were the hardest battles in the entire game for me, barring the post-game final battle.

So don't feel bad if you're banging your head against a wall.

Update on my Mother playthrough.

I just reached Mt. Itoi Lake. The end is near...... It's been a wild ride.

Also, the difficulty ramped so quickly in the Swamp. I had to grind for hours to get through it.

afaik you can fight 3 out of the 4 special bosses without any prerequisites. Guides suggest being level 50 before fighting them but I don't think that's a requirement either, just a suggestion. One of the bosses is in a town that is not revealed until you have progressed to a certain point in the story. (my memory could be wrong, it has been a year since I played through it)

this is the first time in a long time i'm not playing catch up with a backlog. i guess i'll just play some Rocket League/Gwent/Football Manager until there is a game I want to buy. Animal Crossing isn't out until late next month...

Ive just finished the main quest of Baldur's Gate on the switch. Enjoyed it, kinda rushed through it though and played on story mode. I dont have time these days to actively plan out battles and such, and mostly play for story anyway.

Soon finished with Vampyr. The story is very good with strong writing and interesting characters. The setting with a early 18th century London is gorgeous, and have a strong and spooky atmosphere to it. It looks extra nice in handheld mode too. Docked mode have some terrible performance issues in some areas with stuttering and frame drops so I mostly play portable. Which I almost always do anyway so it's not a big deal.

The downside with the game is the shallow combat, which gets repetitive since the enemy variety and bland bosses are lacking in quality. The areas also look too samey, so it's hard to navigate around. It's just another alleyway after alleyway. It's kinda drab actually, but since the art design is so good and atmospheric I forgive it. The side quests are pretty dull too, with weak rewards.

I love the main character, Jonathan. He is a very sympathetic protagonist, a doctor and a vampire torn on either saving his patients or eating them. He feels like this noble and aristocratic gentleman, kinda like Kain from Blood Omen, and his voice acting is great. He is one of the high points of the game.

After I'm done with this it's time for some colorful Star Fox adventures.

Still grinding it out in Sekiro, playtime is over 40 hours and at the final boss.

One of my gripes is that way too many mid-bosses get recycled. Some are literally just palette swaps with an extra add. I would have rather they had cut some of em out to reduce the length a bit.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for the Switch. I wonder if my old -1992- self would regard this game superior to Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World, because I think it might. Are these classic games really better than this game? Am I a slave to nostalgia? Or am I just so grounded and familiar with certain games, that newer ones don't get the chance they might deserve?

Just beaten it on Hard (supposedly Normal in Japan). This is a much much better game than Star Fox 1. Really satisfying once you figure it out and doesn't require you to memorise where enemy is gonna spawn.

Playing Shadowrun: Dragonfall. I've gotten into playing isometric games on my laptop whenever I'm travelling because they don't need a controller and a large TV. Shadowrun games are well suited to this end. All in all its a pretty solid game, and maybe a few months down the road I'll end up buying Shadowrun: Hong Kong as well.

Hyrule Warriors but I don't like it. It's repetitive and the missions causes a lot of stress with a cluttered map and horrible shit music that do nothing but irritate. I have tried countless of times to get into it, but it fails everytime. It's just the same shit over and over again. This type of game is just not for me.

I hope that DQ 11 lands in my mailbox soon. Played the demo and fell in love with it. Haven't played a JRPG in a long time and DQ is a first too, so excited to see how it is.

Dishonored 2. Started it ages ago on PS4Pro and had to quit due to motion sickness. Now playing it on XBox One X and no problems at all. It's fun. Pretty much on par with its predecessor.

Wolcen make me want to play an arpg so i bought diablo 3 immortal edition on ps4 pro.

This thing still has the best and meatiest combat of the bunch, and it's almost a decade old...you literally make enemy flying on the screen when you hit them with enough force

I just started Earthbound (SNES). I don't know why, but I'm just not feeling it as much as Mother. It has quality of life improvements, but it just doesn't have the eerie feel of the first one.

I guess I'll have to progress more to see if it improves.

I started playing Yakuza 3 Remastered a few days ago. I really like Okinawa city hub and the orphanage area, but I feel like the storyline really takes its time to kick off. Helping out the orphanage kids or finding toys for the dog should be optional tasks.

Sotc remaster:
Looks amazing not just because of the graphical upgrade but also how smooth it feels at 60fps. It has been nice revisiting the game since I haven't player through it entirely since the PS2 era.
It's not quite as good as the first time though since since a big part of the fun the first time was figuring out how to beat each Colossus and so far I've remember all of them.

Vanquish PC:
Still amazing and holds up really well. Also runs at 60fps + even on modest hardware which in such a fast and action packed game makes big difference from the 30fps with drops performance of the original console release

Vanquish is still the best shooter ever!

I am playing Sengoku 1 and 3. I finished 1 on Arcade Archives and now I’m playing 3. Such a huge difference in 3. Multiple characters to choose from, no more transforming into another assist, combos are fun, and there’s running/dashing/and projectiles.

Ninja Gaiden Black (Xbox One) and Sigma (Vita). It’s funny how there’s an Xbox object and then there’s the Team Ninja object next to the shuriken. Depending on which version you’re playing on.

I restarted Hollow Knight recently. I fell off of it fairly quickly when it released on the switch. I'm ten hours in (just got the second nail upgrade and the double jump ability). It firmly has its' hooks into me, though I'm still not a fan of the map system and aesthetic is still a touch overbearing.

I'm also on chapter 2 of Judgment. Really enjoying the game but I'm a massive fan of the Yakuza series so that isn't surprising.

I picked up The Division 2 on PC since it was $2.99 and played it for two hours. I didn't hate it, but I doubt there's much more to be added to the strategy past taking cover, pulling the left trigger, then the right trigger, with the occasional special grenade on a cooldown.

I started playing the game at about 9pm and lost my last life at 3am to Bowser. There are plenty of exploits to get 99 lives but they drain damn fast in World 8.
Just gotta git gud I guess.

I just finished the first game in Ace Attorney Trilogy and its one of those games that made me question myself why didn't I get in to the series sooner.

Also almost done with FE3H's Cindered Shadows DLC and I playing in hard difficulty and I have to say, some these maps are tough, some times more than maddening mode in base game. I'm guessing it mostly because you are much more limited, you need survive from what you have.

I'm doing Breath of the Wild again. Ya know, I get sorta why some rag on it being "Breath of the tech demo", but really that's just the hint I get when I'm thrown into an open world Zelda I think. It's way too easy to lose sight of your objective... but that's what I love about it!!! There feels like so much to do and different ways of doing things, you just kinda get lost in the world.

I honestly still believe it's a masterpiece in some regards... but I have to wonder if the Shrine idea was borrowed from something else they were working on and thought it fit for their direction. The absence of traditional dungeons is still a little jarring considering they're basically staples, almost.

Finished the Resident Evil 7 season pass at last. It was actually alot more fun than I thought it would be. The new modes were brilliant and very addictive... with the exception of Ethan must die.

Giving Red Dead 2 a chance to win me over again now as I couldn't get into it much last year. Its amazing how different the opening levels are on a calibrated screen compared to a tv at default settings, what with all the snow. Rockstar definitely had a specific look in mind.
