CPU is too slow to be lockhart unless lockhart is a pure last gen replacement and not a low end Series X.

Also, MS doesn't need to use hardware for back compat. Their structure enables software compatability.

I don't think so. The game is coming out for the current gen (supposedly March?), i doubt that a cross gen title would be visually impressive as he described.

You might be right. And that'd peg it around 2.9184 TF with that clock setting.

Wouldn't be too bad as a streaming-orientated device at $300 I suppose. But it's "only" about 3.648 TF of relative GCN performance. Don't know if that'd be enough for natively playing next-gen games at 1080p60. I'm guessing, like Ariel > Oberon there might be a revision that ups the GPU clock later, but it'd probably not be a full revision like Oberon was to Ariel.

IF that happens (and if this is Lockhart, mind), of course.

Oh right, i forgot that Ubisoft delayed a bunch of stuff after Breakpoint flop. Still, it was intended as a current gen title and i doubt they'll change that, so, i don't think it will be that visually impressive as it was described.

Besides, "The main character is impossible to confuse with anyone else and this game has not been revealed", so, it's something still to be announced.

Edit: Unless "revealed" = gameplay.

2.9184 x 4 = ~11.7TF - so actually really very close to what we are expecting no? 1080p = 1/4 x 4K.

3 tflops would be 1/4th of the 12 tflops series x. if series x is targeting native 4k, 3 tflops should be enough to run the same game at 1080p.

honestly though, I think Xi cares much much more about the economy and appearances so that the travel bans get lifted. I think they’ve accepted that they can’t sweep this one under the rug any longer so they figure that all future deaths of Chinese citizens are simply collateral damage in a hopeful gamble that the world just accepts and embraces this new Chinese illness as a permanent norm.

Fair enough. But I wonder if it would only be enough for 1080p30. Even if XSX hits 12 or under/over that some, it's already a given games like GTA won't be 4K60, not with the amount of stuff going on in them.

But I've also been one of the sort who've been hoping Lockhart is just a streaming-orientated device for those who want higher-fidelity next-gen on a budget. The fact it can do 1080p60/1080p30 natively would be good. Just hope it's cheap, like $250 - $300. Cheaper Lockhart bodes well for PS5 and XSX pricing-wise.

My compation goes out to all the CPU's out there who's probably quite confused why it must convert ascii binary to binary and spit it out again through all the api layers so that in the end your browser can display the binary numbers in ascii again.
